Utah may be in quandary over same sex marriage, but the federal government recognizes as legitimate those that have already taken place.

Courtesy of New York Times:

The Obama administration on Friday said that it would recognize as lawful the marriages of 1,300 same-sex couples in Utah, even though the state government is refusing to do so.

Wading into the fast-moving legal battle over same-sex marriage rights in one of America’s most socially conservative states, the administration posted a video on the Justice Department’s website making the announcement. Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. said that the federal government would grant federal marriage benefits to the same-sex couples who rushed to obtain marriage licenses after a federal judge last month unexpectedly struck down Utah’s ban on same-sex marriage.

“I am confirming today that, for purposes of federal law, these marriages will be recognized as lawful and considered eligible for all relevant federal benefits on the same terms as other same-sex marriages,” Mr. Holder said in the video. “These families should not be asked to endure uncertainty regarding their status as the litigation unfolds.”

Well that is good news for those who were concerned that their marriages may be in legal limbo until Utah gets its act together.

And once again let me say that Utah may be in the throes of some kind of inner turmoil, but ultimately we all know that they will, like every other state at some point in time, allow marriage equality in their state.

Progress may get interrupted, but ultimately it arrives, whether people are ready to accept it or not.

These crazy conservatives: if they own a shiny new car it just drives them nuts when the people down the street get a shiny new car just like theirs. I guess they figure that if someone else can get the same thing they have somehow lessens the value of theirs.

It must suck to go through life with an outlook like that.

Barack Obama – Imaginary Reign Of Tyranny

Very young children often have imaginary friends. Most grow out of this phase. Not our dear friends on the Tea Party right. They have an Imaginary Tyrant they play with every day. His name is Barack Hussein Obama.

    Emphasis always on the “Hussein.”

It’s been all the rage now for five years. Glenn Beck and Michael Savage love to insist that President Obama is equal to Hitler. Or Stalin. Or Mao. They might as well compare him to Barney the Purple Dinosaur. It makes as much sense.

...Perhaps, then, it’s time for an intervention. Time for Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter and all the Fox News crew to grow up! Let’s look at some of the “subtle” differences between tyranny and garden variety political ideas the right just doesn’t like. Tyranny would be Caligula plotting to make his horse a Roman consul. Not tyranny would be Ted Cruz, that horse’s ass. Whatever we liberals might think, he was duly elected. And he’s a real, live human being.

When the Federal Government makes it known where it stands on those who've been legally married in Utah, you know it's burning the bigot's britches. You're right, how can the State go back on it's word and not recognize legal marriages while not allowing others the same rights? Come on Utah, get with the program. Mitt Romney's Son, a Mormon in Utah, can adopt an african american baby after years of aftrican americans not being recognized as fully human beings by the Mormon Church. They change their mind on that archaic bigotry, how about Marriage Equality?

How DID Marie Osmond get legally divorced, then married to the same man in the same church? $$$$$$$?
