After it’s come to light that illegal activities, not to mention, extremely bad business decisions took place, folks in the area are fighting back, asking for three board members’ resignations.
In a surprise move, a Tea Party member tried to implement a vote for the school board to use a different attorney, and when asked why, he said, it’s because he’s less expensive. That of course, was found to be a lie. The attorney turned out to specialize in fighting unions. In addition, that attorney has no experience with education law. On top of that, the attorney costs $15,000 more than the board’s lawyer.
John Prager at Americans Against the Tea Party explains, “The lawyer who, under their plan, would be representing the school district is Kevin Maloof. Maloof is the President of the West Clermont Education Foundation, a fund-raising group. School board members Mark Merchant and Tina Sanborn are also on the board of the WCEF.”
So much for Tea Party transparency.
This same thing is being attempted up here in Alaska as well, only for us the pressure is coming from our Governor, and in Anchorage the mayor, whose decisions to cut funding have resulted in the layoff of 6% of our teachers thus far.
These people do not want to fix public education, they want to sabotage it.

ReplyDeleteOf course they want to sabotage it! The push for guns in schools will run sane parents right out, won't it? My grandkids will never attend a school where there are loaded guns. Left will be the RW kids whose parents want them stupid and dependent all their lives. Either that, or they see them as the next Palin or religious 'leader' making tons of money for lying...great ethics, those Christians with rifles.
ReplyDeleteEveryone should heed this article as it is coming to a town near you. The TBags have been infiltrating our local county government for the last few years. The locals haven't woke up to it yet, and by the time they do I think a lot of damage will already have been done. Off topic but, I found this article and it appears Scott Walker took a page out of Palin's play book http://www.politicususa.com/2014/02/23/scott-walker-scandal-explodes-documents-show-directed-county-workers-break-law.html,
ReplyDeleteCertainly not everyone can afford the best secular boarding school options, but perhaps it's time to think about saving that money and sending your children to places and institutions where they can get the best education possible.
ReplyDeleteOur public schools are stellar, partly because we have a rather high tax base, partly because we are a relatively liberal city, and partly because parents are vocal advocates of liberal arts education mixed with a hefty dose of science and math.
DeletePrivate schools (especially boarding schools) cost more than some colleges.
G, I was so hoping you had seen this. It is pretty incredible. And even a side of word salad too!
ReplyDelete"Merchant says the motion to hire new, more expensive legal counsel was introduced ”for the purpose of increasing the ability to stimulate cost reduction,” whatever that means."
http://bit.ly/MmIAdJ
It also said they were trying to do "union busting" that is the whole reason they want a new "legal team".
ReplyDeleteDidn't stoopid sarah get her start in the PTA also, too?
Or is that Pussy tits and ass at Mugshot saloon?
You can't make this stuff up and you can't fix stupid. So if one of these idiots got arrested, they'd shop for the cheapest lawyer? LOL Sounds like a plan.
