Bill Maher trashes the story of Noah's Ark on Real Time last night.

In reference to the Christian backlash against the upcoming movie "Noah":

"But get this, what the Christians who are now protesting this movie are upset about, is that it doesn't take the Biblical story literally enough. They're mad because this made up story does not stay true to their made up story."

It seems to me that I said much the same thing just last week.

I know it was weeks ago, but why, oh why, does he have Issa on his show. They are saying Mahr won't feature him on his 'flip a district' campaign. It's like his new Coultier or Christine O'Donnel. Feature a right wing hate job to keep some kind of even keel?

Anyway, saw this meme about Sarah's bus for sale, it's perfect!

    1. I hate to say I told you so after my "predictions" turn out to be *totally* true, but this is too easy to pass up. So I will tell you in advance again that this Rogue Channel (or whatnot) will NOT be a successful on-going business venture for Sarah as she "expands" her media footprint (lol--- Sarah's "Orwellian" definition for her getting fired and then having to settle for a tiny, micro-audience of really stupid, financially-strapped nobs).

This grifting effort will fail within a year, if for no other reason than the fact that Sarah is way too damn lazy to provide regular, meaningful content herself. It's not that the entire business model is completely flawed. Sure, Glenn Beck, who is just as crazy (but not nearly as vapid and clueless as SP), has a reported 300,000 subs to his streaming audience, making it a real cash cow for him personally. But he's also invested his own capital from his other cash flows, and has personally worked his crazy ass off in promoting it and developing his own content (crazy, convoluted, conspiracy-laden shit, but nonetheless, content) for his target audience. His stuff is very hands-on, and he also has a regular radio audience/ daily website to cross-promote with and piggyback his media ventures. Sarah would have to work every day, and she has never built anything that required tenacity, continuity, or work ethic. She will fail again, just as she has failed time and time again, even if she cashes a few checks before this most recent set of friends/investors/suckers pull the plug on her sorry, emaciated, bony ass.

Interesting tidbit: As lovers of books for reading and life-long learning, we support the local municipal library as volunteers for different programs, so we attend book sales from time to time. For the past 15 years or so, we always donate books to the library, Salvation Army, Goodwill or to schools after we have finished reading them. This afternoon, I was perusing the used books on sale at one of the library branches, and there were 4 of Sarah's latest book, the "Christmas book" on the "$1.00 or less" shelf. I picked up one, and saw that it was originally a gift from a local company to one of its employees. And so were the other three! I got a good laugh out of that. Obviously, the books were part of a bulk purchase that were then given away free to people who never opened them before donating them to a volunteer nonprofit organization to sell, and they still couldn't hardly give them away only four months after the first printing! No, I didn't buy one because I haven't had a *rickety* coffee table or end table needing to be levelled since my college furniture went to the curb 25 years ago.

      BEST-SELLING AUTHOR, MY ASS!

    2. I saw the SP Xmas book on the "New Non-Fiction"
shelf at my local library. I was very, very tempted to mis-shelve it somewhere in the bowels of the library,
but I didn't. I'm an atheist and have ethics.

Too bad that this movie will bomb.

It is unfortunate because any kid with half a brain would see the ridiculousness of the story, just as I did, and expose the fiction that is the bible.

If I were a religious, I would do my best to hide and downplay this story.

    1. again, to assume the fundamentalists are correct is your first mistake. They have little sense about the Bible and the way it was writtten. To assume it is being "historical" or "sceintific" is a big problem for nearly everything in it. These discussions are embarassing for anybody interested in educated, knowledgable argument

I'm starting to think he has no life or happiness. It's sad how little respect he has for people with different beliefs.

How quick the Christians are to cry THEY are being disrespected and then persecute, even kill (think wars) anybody who disagrees with THEIR childish beliefs.

You were spot on in your linked post. As a comedian, Maher can take a certain extent of comedic license and sneak a jab in here and there. In this one, after mentioning elephants on the ark, a few lines later he shuck a dig a Gov Chrispie Creme Lite. The conservatives can't say they were singled out, either. He's an equal opportunity religious stereotypist.
What gets me about this rash of religious films is that, if they involve the bible, they have a guaranteed captive audience with all the mega churches showing it and charging admission, then the flock goes out in the field with their boarder collies, and fill the studios with more and more viewers.
My son said the story might have had a chance if the arc was a modern nuclear submarine with a lot of scientifically proven technology, but even then it would be a stretch.

OT, I have Comcast Cable, and they just sent their new "tier". For me to watch Sarah's Show, it would cost me about 175 bucks more for 600 plus channels, then I'd have to add fifty bucks for the sports special, then ten bucks a month for the three ring circus. Out of curiosity, I called and asked if a lot of people have been ordering the whole chrunchwrap supreme, including the ten bucks a month. So far 12, and my carrier covers a huge chunk of Northeast Philadelphia, Bucks County, and several other big counties with high concentrated areas. Doesn't bode well for the lipsticked Wendigo. This'll sink quicker than the arc and her books..

But Palin's show on TAPP isn't on TV it's digital streaming on the internet.

That's what they told me, I'd have to buy a higher tier AND subscribe 10 bucks. Unless I misunderstood. I checked Comcasts's site and couldn't find it, but I did find this, so maybe they'll change it (which doesn't make sense on second thought because they're begging for higher tier sports minded people)

    OT but important!
    DEMOCRATS BE WARNED!

There is an ill wind blowing your way.

It feeds the anger, fear, anxiety, hate, and zeal of a GOP base and it is threatening to blow the Democratic majority away in the Senate, to widen GOP control in the House, to keep control of a record number of state legislatures and governorships, and to give them a shot at the White House.

Here is a sample of its power.

As reported on Chris Hayes tonight in an interview with a 78 year old GOP activist by Dave Wiegel from Slate:

"The idea that we're giving our monies for health care for illegal aliens, who are here illegally- that's for the birds. I'm at an age where I'm expendable. Let's say I get a terrible disease. Would I get any coverage? The death panel would probably decide."
This is a true believer. It does not matter what the facts are. It does not matter what the truth is.

Want another story? Look no further than http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/03/10/obamacare...
Cancer Patient Who Blamed Obamacare for Unaffordable Costs will Actually Save Money.

YEP. And when faced with the facts? She just denied them. They just cannot be true. "Obama is a bad man in a bad party."

IT IS GOING TO COME DOWN TO THIS: HOW MOTIVATED WILL THOSE WHO SUPPORT DEMOCRATIC PARTY IDEAS, PRINCIPLES, GOALS, PROGRAMS BE TO VOTE IN LARGE ENOUGH NUMBERS LARGE TO STAND AGAINST THE LIES.

Given how poorly Democrats perform in getting out their vote time and time again despite numerical superiority, I say the GOP has a good chance of pulling this off.

AND THEN......let the tears begin because the GOP will use their control to make it easier for their minority to hold power and to neutralize those who oppose them.

WHAT DRIVES IT ALL IS $$$$ particularly when applied to media campaigns that create and disseminate waves of lies.

Beginning with the dismantling of the campaign funding transparency, reporting and total funding limitations put in place by McCain-Feingold, continuing with Citizens United, those with billions to spend (much of it as a result of tax loopholes, subsidies and incentives from middle class tax dollars) are investing in their own futures by funding the GOP's control of the legislative, judicial and executive branch.

Republicans love to claim that they are standing for the rights of everyday citizen in defense of liberty, and freedom. As with most propaganda the truth lies in the reversal of the statement. "WE STAND FOR THE ELITE AND THEIR RIGHT TO HAVE THEIR WAY IN DEFENSE OF THEIR GOALS AND PRIORITIES."

Years of fully funded lies running amok have poisoned the well of public discourse. Power messaging, ruthless discipline, relentless communication - all is needed - for years - just to get your sound bite heard and believed. Sadly, I predict loss in 2014, and a stunned/confused Left
