What War Does to Children. Shocking one second a day video.

Courtesy of the YouTube page:

A young girl's life gets turned upside-down in this tragic second a day video. Could this ever happen in the UK? This is what war does to children.

What should disturb almost as much as these images is the realization that much of that kind of destruction, and the fear it inspires, is due to weapons deployed by US servicemen around the world.

As Pogo would say, "I have met the enemy, and he is us."

  1. Jesus. I didn't understand what the video was about until the last slide/scene. NO child should EVER have to go through that. Goddamnitsomuch!

The little girl's acting is amazingly good for her age.

"....Could this ever happen in the UK?"

It already has. People today don't seem to want to remember and equate. The Second WW was a time when it DID happen in the UK! And this question has to be ASKED?

    Short memories.

Powerful film clip. And the pogo quote fits so perfectly. I grew up listening to my parents (who were children during world war 2 in Italy) and the atrocities and diversities they faced. There was a palpable thread through all their lives that their fathers, brothers, grandfathers could be dragged out, shot, and their bodies never found again if they dared speak against the government.
All the photos were in black and white, but I could tell the material in women's dresses were all the same. The Americans never forgot the villiage's kindness, and airdropped canned meat rations, candy, and bolts of army green fabric. The children in all our old photos have the same faces this young child has.
I learned so much talking to my grandparents and parents.

We take much for granted here.
