Morality is not determined by the church you attend nor the faith you embrace. It is determined by the quality of your character and the positive impact you have on those you meet along your journey

And verily the Lord sayeth, "There's a sucker born every minute."
And that's what continues to amaze me about Sarah Palin -- she has the gift of gab and a grifter's lack of conscience so why doesn't she just do that for a living? She could be a celebrity and have people write her "sermons" and the money would roll in from the evangelical sheeple
Agree with you Anonymous 4:51. I do think Sarah will eventually get into televangelism. It will be her last resort for financial security, but it may become her most lucrative scam yet. Especially if Todd's pimping is exposed and her PAC runs out of money. She'll divorce Todd (if she hasn't already) and claim she didn't know anything and play the victim to the max. When her Trig pregnancy hoax is finally exposed by the MSM she'll just say she was trying to protect Bristol's "reputation" and her religious bots will love her for it. Never mind that Sarah is a liar and a sociopath.
It appears that that many of her current followers already worship at the altar of Sarah Almighty. Low overhead evangelism for the gods of money and power.
No one ever said that the anti-Christ had to be male (h/t to the one that said it first)
People go there for a sense of community. We have a good friend who’s moved a lot because of his job and he always gets deeply involved in some church. I don’t know if he buys what they’re selling, he doesn’t try to convert anyone, but he seems to need the human contact. He could join clubs and pay dues, but he goes to church instead.
Churches provide sexual opportunities. I think true believers are usually women, with men wanting money, power and sex in some order.
Yes, and it's pretty sad that women will believe stuff that hates on them. Traditional society has women are conditionned from birth to be exploited by some or another stuff. Modern society is not much better on this account.
Rev. Beldar JC Conehead, DDiv, Rectum Church of FSM, ret.5:27 AM
Gryphen, you are, without ANY question going to spend eternity in HELL for your blasphemery, you... you... you BLASPHEMER, you!!
Wait, maybe I jumped to the wrong conclusion.
You weren't blaspheming the almighty Zeus, were you? As long as you direct your contempt and mockery, also too, to lesser or imaginary deities, you'll be ok.
There was an interesting discussion on MSNBS last night. IT started with the story about the LA congressman kissing staffer. Then the discussion turned to religion permeating every corner of politics. Can't have politics without putting your religious affiliation out there. Then someone mentioned if someone called themselves an atheist. It would never go! Where are the secularists. I believe that's what most of the founding fathers called themselves.
All the emphasis has been on the congressman. What about the lady in question? That guy was her boss. Sexual harassment anyone? Now she is out of a job and her marriage is shot. All the religious affiliations bely forgiveness for the sinner's actions. How about responsibility for your actions.
Remember when Clinton was being crucified? The Illinois Senator leading the charge had been having an affair with a married woman for many years. Her husband stepped forward and told the story of how he wrecked their marriage and children's lives. He was never punished or took responsibility, just forgiven!
"The Illinois Senator leading the charge had been having an affair..."
I believe you are referring to the truly awful House member, the late Henry Hyde, R-IL, who also deserves to be remembered as the author of the Hyde Amendment, a provision attached to various bills over the years barring the use of certain federal funds to pay for abortions with exceptions for incest and rape.
Both senators from Illinois throughout the Clinton Crucifixion Era were Democrats.
IM is the happiest place on earth. Very few grammar/spelling nazis here. Everybody makes mistakes. You weren't admonished for the minor error in your comment but it was gently pointed out in order to prevent any potential misunderstandings, whether by you or other visitors.
If you read lots of comments here over time, you'll see it's almost always about the content and not style points.
The only people that get picked on or treated dismissively are the trolls and they earn it.
(Literally, it would appear, as it's been suggested that some of the loopiest trolls who make repetitious nonsensical comments here ("Grow up", "smh", "you don't know her personally", "I feel sorry for you"....) are compensated by the Great Right Wing Cabal or ScreechyPAC, whichever comes first)
Your comment was well written and a welcome contribution.
When McCain picked Sarah and I spent several days reading everything I could about her, one link took me to a letter written by Sarah in support of Todd Bentley, a Pentacostal Assembly of God "preacher". Bentley had run some sort of tent revival in Lakeland, FL, that packed in 10,000+ of the faithful. He physically assaulted 3 elderly cancer patients: One had lung cancer, Bentley slugged her in the face; another had cancer of the stomach, Bentley slugged him in the stomach; the third had bone cancer in his legs, Bentley laid him on a table and took a baseball bat to his legs.
All of that was done during the "services". All of that wasn't enough to remove him from the pulpit but he was removed when he began an affair with a female staff member. He was married. Long story short, he went through spiritual rehab of some sort and is back in the pulpit. Unbelievably he wasn't arrested for assault and no one of the 10,000 people in the audience stood up and screamed NO! Because of driving out demons, ya know. If memory serves correctly, Sarah's charming letter of support was before his scandal and (I think) while he was still preaching in Canada but one look at him, bad reputation or not, unimaginable that any sane person would support him.
Gryphen, may I ask you and the last few remaining librul deadenders visiting your defunct blog to join me in responding to the supernatural challenge thrown down by the esteemed (or perhaps simply 'steamed') royal pain in the ass and former presidential candidate Pat "I'm jus' a lil stinker!' Robertson.
"Pat Robertson just wants this "crypto-Muslim" Obama nightmare to end, and he's hoping a little divine intervention will do the trick." http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/pat-robertson-deliver-us-obama
Specifically, I am asking free-thinking individuals whereever they may roam, to invoke the following prayer to Zeus, Jupiter, Satan, the FSM or their god du jour:
"Please, almighty (insert imaginary deity name here), deliver us from religio-centric early onset dementia as raised to an artform by the likes of Pat "I'm jus' a lil stinker!" Robertson and his ilk, also too. Yay, verily, may You strike him where he need be stricken and smite him where he need be smitten. And, in the unlikely event you are a REAL supernatural omnipotent being, which I find virtually unimaginable, please, oh Lord, protect our president Barack HUSSEIN Obama from douchebags like Robertson, of whom there are far too many amongst us in our midst. Amen."
Think I read this on your site -- Religion has always been the the best way to locate gullible suckers.
ReplyDeleteTotally agree !!

Say, Beldar - which may not even be your real name -, you can't even spell 'rector' right??? (And don't try to blame autocorrect this time!)

I feel sorry for you...
You definitely should live more vibrantly, whatever the hell that even means!

How many senators from each state? I believe 2. If Hyde was a repub, how could your last sentence be correct? Please enlighten me.

My mistake. He was a Congressional Representative. Husband of woman in affair confronted Mrs. Hyde and then it stopped. But he was forgiven, oh my!
Delete10cats
10 cats, the operative word is "house Member".
DeleteWell, I guess I need to operate better. Correction acknowledged.
DeleteIs it the grammar, nom, or article intent that is more important.

What's 10%?
ReplyDeleteI don't get that.
You aren't forced to give money to your church. We all hope that when we give money it will be used well.
I choose to give my money to St.Judes children hospital.
I dont think you have to attend church to be a Christian, It s is simply how you choose to live.
IF they ever see the product after they die.
ReplyDeleteWell, that's the beauty of the scam, isn't it? If they don't see the product, obviously they didn't pray or pay enough.
