It's never too early to start screwing up your children.

Here was what the young father posted along with this picture:

My 10 week old daughter and me at an open carry walk today. She's of course also carrying.

I am trying to determine what about this photo bothers me the most.

The fact that this man brought his infant daughter to protest where she would be surrounded by automatic weapons.

The fact that she must share a house with him that is undoubtedly full of automatic weapons.

Or the fact that he will raise her to think that it is perfectly natural to own a large number of automatic weapons.

I'm going to go with all of the above.

I should clarify this by saying that I really don't have an issue with somebody owning a handgun that they keep safely locked up in their homes for personal protection.

I personally think that a good dog, pr perhaps an alarm system, is a much better deterrent against burglary or home invasion, but to each their own.

But in my mind there is NO justification for this desire to walk along the streets of a city or town, with a military style assault weapon strapped to your shoulders.

To my mind that is an indication of an unhinged mind, and possibly somebody who is looking for a confrontation in order to have an excuse to use their weapon against another human being.

And I don't give a shit about what these assholes say, there is NOTHING in the 2nd Amendment that protects their right to be such obvious douchebags.

yup. And even if you're a gun-lover, something is so wrong about this guy with his baby this photo, it is obscene. Just because you can, why would you? Pot is legal in a few states, would he go to a puff-in with her, too?

You're idiots.. the safest place on the planet for this father and his baby to be is surrounded by like minded individuals like himself. It's people like you who posted this thread that people like him become weary of. The people that think this country and our people and our safety as a nation aren't at risk. Open your eyes look around you. The simple beliefs that this country and our Constitution were formed around are slowly being taken away. Don't you think if solid minded individuals carried and protected ourselves that crim would be abysmal? It's a free country there's nothing illegal about owning or carrying multiple firearms, just as its ok for Jane doe to have an abortion, or for you to go to the diner of your choice. The difference is minimal. Some of the men and woman on this March are school teachers, doctors, engineers, transportation workers etc. The same people you surround yourself publicly everyday, those same people that might also save your life someday. Think before you speak remember your freedoms before they are taken from you and I... mic drop!!!

It's really surprising he was able to father a child, given his hilariously obvious great difficulty in getting it up, not to mention its glaringly obvious miniscule size. Maybe he'd better get her DNA tested on his way home from the tiny inoperative dick rally.

Open Carry Texas Invades Art Festival, Brings Armed Kids!

Gun-toting domestic terrorists Open Carry Texas are still at it! The group decided that, despite being banned from Sundance Square, they would just attend anyway!

The group–complete with their arsenal–showed up yesterday to once again push the issue of unrestricted open carry of long guns, even bringing armed children to the event, according to Coalition to Stop Gun Violence. While they did not say if these were “good kids with guns” or the “bad” variety we can only assume, given the group’s track record, that these would be the “bad kids with guns.”

The group posted a woman’s phone number and name via a YouTube video the other day in an attempt to intimidate and punish her for having the audacity to report a group of armed lunatics wandering around in public, and has previously waited outside of a restaurant armed to the teeth to bully anti-gun group Moms Demand Action.

But you'reaware the MMothers Demand Action groups spread cold-cut lies about the open carry group, right? MDA claimed when the OC group went to a Jack In The Box for a meal, the employees were all shocked at the sight of a firearm, and his in the freezer. What actually happened, the OC group went to jack in the box for a meal, made friendly talk with the employees, and even took a picture with one of them. And guess what, the employee looked full of joy to be with these men in the picture, not horrified.

5:46- Do you actually read- I said I don't think these types of protests are that productive either- I certainly wouldn't participate in them, or in any other rally- not my thing. Point is, this is about rights and the right to demonstrate about whatever the cause is. I'm sure many of the fine folks here at IM would be up in arms if the right to hold pro-choice rallies was somehow infringed.... but those demonstration do occur because they are always (and rightly so) worried about the religious right taking away their freedoms of choice. If there were never any question about pro-choice rights- you wouldn't see any domonstrations from either side. Same difference in my mind.

Regardless, there is really nothing intimidating or aggressive about this photo besides possibly being in poor taste.

6:48 there has been an underlying murmur (threat to some) of gun control on a federal level for the last several years no matter what state you live in and what the local laws are. Add to that a democrat white house that was recently pushing for gun control (which they have quieted on because uit was a loser). Your logic doesn't see the big picture as to why these demonstrations are occurring.

Frankly, I do not chose to need to carry a gun to a store or other public venue in case a nut case starts shooting I can join in as if the local strip mall is the Wild West.

The only family member who carries does so to intimidate people even at the grocery store, he gets a kick out of people's reaction when he has them see his pistol while they are peacefully looking for pancake mix. He also claims he has PTSD from serving in Iraq....which is not safe if he is carrying a loaded gun and has PTSD. Since teenage he got sick kicks from saying sexually inappropriate things to provoke reactions from adults and so it goes with his weapon.

funny, CPS has NO problem with lawful, safe firearms ownership... someone tried to get them involved after my wife was breastfeeding while OCing in the park in Oberlin... CPS called "BS" and dropped the investigation... I don't necessarily think that carrying a long gun is the best option for everyday carry, but if one is under 21, it is the only option, since handguns are not legal for carry by an 18-20 yr old in Ohio... as for "weapons as playthings," I beg to differ... a child who is properly trained doesn't screw round with guns... my almost three year old has already been tested multiple times... (unloaded firearm left out (even in the middle of all the toys), mom and dad in another room... so funny to watch her come running in: "Mommy, Daddy, there's a gun!" "Did you touch it?" "No! Always loaded!" (She's learning the rules of gun safety along with counting, colors, and her ABCs...)

I have two young grandsons who are obsessed with killing, stabbing, blowing up people, laser guns blasting people to pieces that they see in Ninja shows and video games. I believe that if there were real guns, weapons around they might not think twice of grabbing one, aim and kill someone. Especially if the parents modeled weapons to kill are an accessory for a walk since a child was an infant.

The minimum age to open carry, in Ohio, is 18. The boy's child is 10 months old. Because he has a gun and I have to agree with him, the pink gun his ten month old is "open carrying" must be real, Right?

I am the guy in the picture. Firstly, I would like to thank you for your opinion and concern for the well-being for my daughter. Second, I must set some facts straight. At no time in my daughter's 10 weeks* of life has she been around an automatic weapon. The only time I've ever been around an automatic weapon was at a military base. My rifle and the ones other people on the walk were carrying are semi-automatic, civilian versions of military rifles so I can see where your misunderstanding comes from. Second, there is no such thing as an assault weapon. A military rifle is an assault rifle but to be an assault rifle it must have select fire capabilities, which means it can be set on fully automatic or burst fire and semi-automatic, which I've already addressed. If this was a picture of me holding my daughter at a gay pride even with a rainbow flag wrapped around us would you be making such a hateful post? No, because that would be prejudiced. Just because I have different political views from you and am a heterosexual white man does not mean you can create stereotypes and show prejudice towards me. You are right, though. The second amendment doesn't cover my right to be a douchebag, that's the first amendment, the same amendment that covers your right to post a horribly inaccurate blog post.

However I do not believe that the second amendment was written to allow people to walk around with semi-automatic weapons strapped to their backs. There is no way the Founding Fathers could have envisioned the world we live in today.

And by the way the difference between a gay man bringing an infant to a pro-rights gathering, and you bringing your daughter is that gay people don't go off by accident and kill innocent bystanders.

    4. Anonymous3:03 PM

Gryphen for my rifle to have gone off "by accident" someone would have had to have chambered a round, turned the safety off, and pulled the trigger. That doesn't sound like an accident to me. The Founding Fathers also couldn't have envisioned the internet, radio, tv, or cell phones so if the second amendment only covers muskets the first amendment only covers letters and newspapers.

      Delete
    5. Anonymous5:30 PM

Hey Gryphen - guns do not "accidentally go off". What happens is uneducated, poorly trained people that do not respect firearms behave stupidly and irresponsibly. This is avoided by raising awareness for gun safety, and that starts with people fully understanding their rights concerning firearms.

I say this as someone who once did not respect firearms, was irresponsible, and subsequently almost killed one of my best friends. No, the gun did not "go off by accident" - I was being reckless.

I learned my lesson the hard way, and got lucky that no one was hurt. Since then I have received formal training on firearm safety, handling, and operation, and have received my Concealed Carry Permit. I carry my firearm every day, without fail, and in the last two years since I got my permit, it has not "accidentally gone off" once.

Now that I've clearly stated my opinion on firearms and gun ownership, would I have done the same thing this man did? No. But not because of some irrational fear - rather because I personally don't feel that loud of a statement needed to be made. Yet even though I do not agree with what he did, I still recognize the validity of his reasons for doing it, and I support him in demonstrating his rights as an American.

Your view is remarkably close-minded and serves as a disservice to everyone with whom you claim affiliation. You make those you laud look very, very bad. You should be ashamed of yourself.

"There are many inaccuracies in your post, starting with saying that my daughter was surrounded by automatic weapons at the walk in in my home. There were no weapons on the walk and I definitely do not have any automatic weapons. They are semi-automatic, civilian versions of military assault rifles, so I could see where the misconception comes from. Secondly, you draw a lot of assumptions based off of one picture. If I looked at a picture of a parent with their child at a gay rights rally and talked about how you were teaching your child to be gay (which I do not at all believe) you would scream at me for being prejudiced and stereotyping people. It's funny, a lot of people find prejudice and stereotypes to be horrible except when they're used against heterosexual white men. You're also right, the second amendment does not cover my right to be a douchebag. That's the first amendment. Before you judge my parenting from one picture and spout about how horrible of a person I am, maybe you should study the constitution a little and get your basic facts about guns straight. It's hard having a rational conversation with someone who has ignored the facts so severely."

Hey, you know what would be really cool to do today? Let's take one picture completely outside the context of actually knowing a person in that picture, and let's judge that person based on our assumptions.
I actually know the young man in this picture. He's a great dad, and I know him to be very educated on the subject of firearms. He's also extremely open-minded and accepting of people whose ideas and lifestyles differ from his. That is, when they're not complete strangers bashing him in their blogs.

Have any of you ever been to clifton its hood as fuck, I carry a loaded 45 everywhere I go and have been shot at, robbed, and jumped. Gangs of young black kids roam around beating students with pipes and bats for fun. MLK and clifton ave are where all walks/rallies are held per UC. Both parents are enrolled in school full time at UC and work full time.

The week before this picture was taken I worked 9 days in a row, plus having 18 credit hours of classes. But I'm a horrible father, right?

And yet all I see are bigotry, stereotypes, and hate coming from you and your readers. Stay classy, anti-gunners.

I think that he wants to protect his daughter if you buy a dog and you have a dog in your house they can attack your baby just as much as a gun that you're stupid enough to use in the house to go off but I personally know this man and he is not a child he does have full time job and he has his head on his shoulders are correct way and always puts his daughter and his fiance first rest assured the baby is safe and if anything happens to any of these people you guys would have to answer to me and a whole bunch of other people I'm just saying before you judge know the person that you're talking about because obviously you guys have nothing better to do than talk smack about somebody else...when this person and his fiance would give their shirts off their own back for a stranger that would need a more

  29. All you people calling this man a monster are monsters yourselves. Here's why: you take a peaceful photograph where a young man holding his beautiful baby and turn it into something you see as evil and inhumane. Fuck you for going after this very smart and intelligent young man. I also happen to know this young man, and he is anything but what you say of him. He works full time, and as soon as he gets off of work, he goes to school. He's taking 18 credit hours. He has taught me almost everything I know about guns and I have never had an accident shooting one of his guns. Why is this you might ask? Well that's because he makes sure I am doing everything the proper way and that I am in control of what I'm doing. Everyone of you going after him on a stupid fucking blog post has something seriously wrong with you. Seriously. You are hiding behind a keyboard, some of you in your parents basement, and your making a huge ordeal out of nothing. He went on this walk to educate, not harm. So before you go after someone who is trying to protect his family by doing what he sees is right and exercising his constitutional rights as he sees fit, please consider in your very closed-minded minds that the ones you plan on verbally attacking are human beings too. The fact that he has to defend himself online, is the reason why America is fucked up. It's because of you pussies and assholes who think everything you say is right, and you can't live alongside someone who is willing to stand up for the person next to you.

"This blog is dedicated to finding the truth, exposing the lies, and holding our politicians and leaders accountable when they fall far short of the promises that they have made to both my fellow Alaskans and the American people."

I think that you should check your little slogan again, my friend.

A better suggestion might be, "This blog is dedicated to personal rants in which I spew my vitriolic thoughts onto a public forum where like minded, hateful people can make invalid assumptions about another human being based on a minute portion of their life that I happen to disagree with."

So much tolerance in these comments. I love the not-so-subtle hopes of this man and his baby needing dying off or killing themselves......I had no idea we had so many Nazis left in this world.

Do you guys actually wish Ill harm and death on people who are not the same as you? Your parents must be so proud.

It is so easy to sit back, point a finger, and jump on the hatred bandwagon. You do not have to agree with the man, but you also do not need to spew hatred and death wishes - shame on you.

Personally, I don't understand why you must exert so much hatred. If a policeman was fully suited in his uniform with a gun strapped to his body and happened to be carrying his child, not a single word would be muttered from your ignorant mouths. I know this man and his beautiful fiance. They love their child more than anything in the world. They both work so hard (and attend school) to make sure that their baby girl will never need a single thing in her life. She will be proud of her daddy when she's older for taking the time and energy (and trust me, you don't know how diligently they work) to raise her to be a smart, educated young woman. She will be more knowledgeable than ANY of YOUR children. She will know how to properly defend herself if ever needed (heaven forbid). This will be "normal" to her and she will know exactly what to/what not to do when it comes to the guns that her daddy has. This man would harm no one - not even the scumbags that are posting on here. This man does not deserve any of these comments. I suggest you incompetent crawlers stop haunting his life by shoving your faces back into your own assholes and get a life. Reflect. And then come back and tell me how hard you work for the things you have. This is one of the luckiest baby girls I have ever seen. Her parents will never ever teach her to degrade others for having different beliefs. And that is a blessing.

This was a public walk. There were many others carrying weapons that day. Wouldn't it be safe to assume that there were other families around that day that weren't a part of the walk? Are you going to blast the city for allowing this event to take place? I think not.

Please reconsider your comments and I hope you all are someday able to have the hearts of this family that is being slandered, because they would never do the same to you.

That's not an automatic weapon. It's a $300 kel-tec that fires pistol ammunition. Add the $5 strap, the $10 walmart drop holster, and personally I'm more worried that the baby is growing up in poverty. Dad probably can't afford bullets.

I was there next to him. I own one degree in Mechanical Engineering, and am working the next in History. He was a nice young man and obviously an extremely caring father. I am 45, and have raised 4 boys in total, 2 of which are currently in college, and 1 on the way next year and another in 2 more years. We walk together with me armed all the time. My father was a CPD officer and had a gun behind my head at all times as we traveled throughout the city in the 70's and 80's because it was in the trunk at all times. Many of the best walks in my life were with Grandpa or Dad hunting or shooting guns. That was "how to survive" training on top of the sports and educational message I learned. By the time I was 6 I knew NEVER point a weapon at anyone period because I got to see and use a 12 gauge shotgun personally and felt the power behind it. You make some awfully silly generalizations. I grew up in a home with at least 10 loaded guns on any table or surface in our home. My Dad was a Police Officer and my whole family carried. Everyone I went to high school with back in the day showed up with shotguns at school on the first day of gun season for Deer. What has happened to make all of you so afraid of the guy carrying a firearm? You should fear that kid over on Vine Street who has it stuffed down his pants illegally and wants your wallet to boot. Stand and Deliver.

3 references in the blog to automatic weapons. Yet automatics are virtually impossible for the common person to get their hands on.

You want the truth? You're an ignorant narcissistic social-justice warrior that wants to throw away all the liberties and freedoms that Great men and women, way greater than you or I, fought and died for just because someone has a different belief system than you. The USA is about coexisting with those different than yourself under the common goal of being the best version of yourself. If you disagree with someone else that's fine, is it your life goal to make sure they can't live their peaceful existence the way they want to live it? Why is that?
