"Fast forward to January 2016," Carville said. "The most likely, though not the only scenario is Hillary Clinton is the presumptive nominee. Everybody's going to have a poll in the field showing how they fare against Hillary. They're not going to not nominate somebody because of Common Core [i.e., Jeb Bush]."
"Trust me," Carville warned. "The party knows, and I use this word advisedly, that if it loses the 2016 presidential election, the Republican Party as we know it today will be extinct."
"We heard that in 2008, too," Laura Ingraham said.
"This will be the sixth out of seven elections in which they've lost the popular vote," Carville replied. "The Republicans want to win this. That will be the biggest issue in January 2016: how can we beat Hillary Clinton?"
I am going to go on record and agree with this assessment.
I think the Republican party will still be able to win local elections, especially in red states, but even that could start to fall off if their national image is one of the always second place opposition party only.
I also think that if they lose in 2016 there will be a legitimate opening for a third party.
Not a Tea Party either, they are too enmeshed with the GOP, I think if a true competitive third party emerges it will have to place itself somewhere within the ideological chasm which separates the Democrats and the Republicans.
That's my opinion, anybody have a different one?
Oh LOOK! Sarah's crazy pig castrating buddy has been busted in Iowa for LYING about her non votes and national service! Color me surprised!
ReplyDeleteIowa GOPer's National Guard Service Excuse For Missing Votes Doesn't Check Out
...
Iowa state Sen. Joni Ernst (R) has said she's missed votes because of National Guard duty, but a review by The Cedar Rapids Gazette of Iowa suggests that Ernst's National Guard duties actually haven't kept her from attending that many votes in the Iowa Senate.
Ernst, according to the Gazette, has repeatedly cited National Guard duty to defend herself against criticism that she's been missing too many votes in the state Senate. But a report by the Gazette on Monday said there's actually "very little overlap between Iowa Senate votes and her National Guard service."

Oh, those evil lame stream reporters who keep coming up with facts that prove the candidate's a liar! What is their sinister Marxist plan?
DeleteBill Maher: Being An Elected Republican Is 'Just A Higher Form Of Talk Radio'
ReplyDelete..."It actually makes perfect sense, because the GOP has kind of become talk radio," the comedian and liberal political commentator said Friday on "Real Time With Bill Maher." "An echo chamber where people are not interested in actually legislating or compromising or fixing America -- just in screeching about how liberals have ruined it. So why not do it on the radio? The money's better. And no one can see your toupee."
http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/bill-maher-mike-rogers-talk-radio
With all the angry atmosphere that's bubbled since the 2008 election, and the ugly divisive name-calling politics, the trashy talk, the lack of civil discourse, and the renewed racism and bigotry (blended in with fanatic christianity), of course something's got to give.
ReplyDeleteHopefully people will cool down and sound reason will prevail. I think average people are very tired of the shameful politics on display. The 'people' will get fed up enough to vote against the angry voices and the barkers and ankle biters.
This is an historic time for the U.S. If the will of the people (voters) is strong enough that they've had enough and are tired of party politics, it will happen. Kind of like, "if you build it, they will come" (Field of Dreams). But if people keep their heads in the sand, the 'elite' and cons will create the new Party and that could be disastrous.
You do realize that Obama is the most lawless President in history? You think that might have something to do with people being upset?
DeleteClearly, they're freakin' scared out of their minds and so...
ReplyDeleteGOP Deploying Army Of Volunteers To Court Women Voters
Signaling that the Republican Party is getting serious about wooing women, the Washington Post reported Monday that the Republican National Committee is planning to recruit an army of volunteers who will court young female voters in Democratic-leaning suburban areas.
The co-chair of the RNC, Sharon Day, is slated to launch the "14 in '14" program Monday in West Virginia, according to the Post, aiming to "sign up women who will commit 30 minutes per week in the 14 weeks before the election, making calls, recruiting other women, identifying voters and getting people to the polls."

It needs to be put out there constantly how the Republicans have been anti women for the past years. (To include anti abortion!)
DeleteWe need to be countering them every step of the way - talking to our friends, family members, classmates, coworkers etc. Especially the younger ones. Most of them are already liberal and anti war.
Facts need to be provided them - Republicans have always been pro war...McCain on TV today calling for the US to get involved militarily w/Putin/Russia. He's nuts! We don't want to as a nation and cannot afford it!
Thank god McCain was never elected POTUS - especially w/the idiot he had running w/him that has proven herself to be a farce time and time again!
View from the north: If Democrats started calling the GOTP "anti-choice" and equate it with loss of individual freedom, maybe that would ring a bell with many women -- and men, too. Just my 2 cents' worth!
Delete7:45 So agree with you! Good point!
DeleteExactly, Maple, I like your choice!
Delete60% of abortions are of girl babies, but that's not a "war on women?"
DeleteI think much of it hinges on the 2014 mid-term election...
ReplyDeleteIF the Republicans retain the House and take the Senate
...everything will change.
They WILL impeach President Obama --- over something, anything
-- remember: they impeached Bill Clinton for a blowjob!
They spent $30 million trying to find something...
they looked into Whitewater, corruption as governor, everything
and they came up with.... a blowjob.
And they used it.
So, if the Republicans come away from the 2014 election with both the House and the Senate, they will impeach the President, they will repeal Obamacare (and he'll veto it) and they'll do it again (and he'll veto it again).
The House and Senate will pass Republican budgets, voter-suppression laws, anti-immigration legislation, sharia-law inspired anti-abortion laws, etc.
THEN, in reaction to the oppressive Republican moves of 2015-2016, whomever gets the Democratic nomination
will win the Presidency.
If Hillary wants it; it's hers.
But any Democrat will win in 2016 if the Republicans take the Senate this year.
Just like Bill Clinton did in response to 12 years of Reagan/Bush
and Barack Obama did in response to 8 years of Bush/Cheney.
And just to add my Woe Is Us, consider that every single close-election Repubs will be given millions by the Koch Bro. to make lying-smearing ads against their opponents.
DeleteI can only hope The People get sick of it, but given the IQ of half of American, they won't.
The stupids will get the Government they deserve, but we'll ALL be fucked. VOTE!!!!
If they do win majority in the House and Senate and the only thing they use it for is to try to impeach Obama on anything, they will lose 2016 big time.
DeletePeople are already tired of their obstructionism. An obstruction that will be palpable to any idiot from 2014-2016. People are already sick of it and a two year stand still will have people yelling for their heads; taking pay and cadillac healthcare and doing not one damned thing. People already hate them for not doing their jobs but taking taxpayer money hand over fist. So again, they'll be shooting themselves in the foot.
Whether they win in 2014 or 2016 or not doesn't matter. What is killing the GOP is their bigotry, their obstructionism, their greed and their obvious loyalty to ONLY the 1%ers. They've done it to themselves by doubling down over and over to the right wing hatred.
Those that agree with them are becoming fewer and fewer and the independents are becoming increasingly alienated and downright pissed off.
The Republicans have screwed themselves so badly. Every day we see that jerk John McCain calling for war and US intervention. The party includes nothing more than war mongers!
ReplyDeleteThey have NO one with the experience of Hillary Clinton to put up against her. I hope she runs, but would understand why she wouldn't! Who in the hell would want that job of POTUS after watching the Republicans constantly go after President Obama these nearly completed two terms? They've been non stop and still have not found or proven a thing that he was a party to - even though they keep trying and wasting the taxpayer's money!
Thank god Sarah Palin, John McCain, the jerk from Kentucky (McConnell), Cantor, Issa, Boehner, etc. and Republicans serving as governors across the nation (and in the U.S. Congress) are being proven for what they are and are not! What a horrid party!
Don't think they won't try every dirty trick to get the election results they want because they and y he Koch brothers will.

Totally agree with you, M. Diebold machines, hanging chads, SCOTUS....I really lost my faith in 2000.
DeleteJeb Bush Was Public Enemy No. 1 At One Of The Year's Biggest Conservative Gatherings
ReplyDeleteFormer Florida Gov. Jeb Bush has started, over the past few weeks, to ratchet up talk of a potential presidential run in 2016. If that's the case, the reaction he received this weekend at a gathering of conservatives in the first-in-the-nation primary state of New Hampshire was not what he was looking for.
Bush served as a punch line for — of all people — Donald Trump.
"You know, I heard Jeb Bush the other day," Trump said during his speech at the Freedom Summit, hosted by the conservative groups Citizens United and Americans for Prosperity.
The crowd immediately started to boo and groan upon hearing Bush's name. Trump then referenced comments Bush had made on immigration on April 6, when he said most people who cross the border illegally do so out of "love."
"He was talking about people that come into this country illegally. They do it for love," Trump said as the boos got louder.
"And I said, say it again. I didn't get — that's one I've never heard of before," Trump said. "I've heard money, I've heard this, I've heard sex, I've heard everything! The one thing I never heard of was love. I understand what he's saying, but, you know, it's out there, I'll tell you."
The crowd laughed.
Jeb Bush, brother of former President George W. Bush and younger son of President George H.W. Bush, wasn't just a joke for Trump in New Hampshire this weekend. The man many describe as a potential front-runner for the GOP nomination was public enemy No. 1 at the Granite State's conservative gathering.

Folks need to get out to the polls - volunteer - watch the voting results, etc. We can protect ourselves and our vote!
DeleteThat chart needs to go viral, hell it should be on every billboard on every highway!
DeleteAnon 11:21 is right, we gotta get fired up and ready to go.
They are already on public record for blocking the vote of black and brown people in various states. The AG is going to go after them and I'm sure the Dems are going to be very watchful.
ReplyDeleteThe Republicans are nothing more than assholes, pro war, anti women (they have their place!), racists, non Christian even though most profess to be otherwise and not to be trusted on any level of government. Vote them out of office whenever you have the chance and don't vote for them!!!
WHAT. THE. FUCK.

DeleteOh, except when they come up with numbers that support the latest GOP talking point. THEN they're completely accurate.
For the most part, the only way conservatives win is by criminally gerrymandering districts. That's why we see Democrats winning national elections and Republicans maintaining control of the House of Representatives. And I say "criminally" because anybody who's analyzed the shape of districts redrawn since the last census has noted the even crazier shapes, shapes that are not justified under any scenario. Look for more of this as they scramble to gain control by means other than honest elections.
ReplyDeleteWow!
ReplyDeleteNevada GOP Strips Opposition To Gay Marriage, Abortion From Platform
The Nevada Republican party on Saturday voted to remove its opposition to gay marriage and its pro-life stance from the party platform, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
State party Chairman Michael McDonald told the Review-Journal that he was pleased with the outcome of the vote.
"I think it was about inclusion, not exclusion," he said about the platform. "This is where the party is going."
A party committee proposed a new party platform without a stance on the two social issues, after the Clark County, Nev. GOP voted to remove them earlier in April.
The old party platform in Nevada defined marriage as between a man and a woman and stated that the party was "pro-life," both of which were removed from the official platform.
Nevada Republicans told the Review-Journal that they felt it was time for the party to step away from some social issues, especially after numerous court rulings striking down state bans on same-sex marriage.
http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/nevada-gop-strips-gay-marriage-abortion-opposition
Sorry, 8:49, but while it may APPEAR to be good news, just because it isn't in the platform doesn't mean they won't use it unofficially!
DeleteNevada voters! You would be smart in NOT voting for ANY Republicans that are running for office or up for reelection. They are changing their stripes there as a temporary move to get votes. They'll go back to the way they have always been after the election.
DeleteRepublicans are NOT to be believed anywhere in our country!
Quitter Sarah Palin Endorses Quitter Karen Handel Based On Something Neither of Them Did
ReplyDelete...Former Secretary of State Karen Handel (R-GA) has a new ad out promoting her endorsement by former Governor Sarah Palin (R-AK) for cutting budgets and not raising taxes. This is odd, since Karen Handel was a Secretary of State before she quit to run for Governor, and so wasn’t in charge of taxes and budgets.
It’s also weird because Sarah Palin raised taxes on the oil companies in Alaska and left Alaska with a 70% debt to GDP ratio and increased general government expenditures by over 33% percent as Mayor of Wasilla and 43% percent increase in taxes (both numbers were actually higher, but have been adjusted for inflation per PolitiFact).
In other words, we have one failed “conservative” praising another for something neither ever did, at jobs both quit.

If Republicans Win the Senate, What Crisis Will Mitch McConnell Cook Up Next?
ReplyDeletehttp://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer/2014/04/what-would-majority-leader-mitch-mcconnell-do.html
This is why the Republicans are putting so much time and money into winning the Senate and keeping the House (at all cost). They know they cannot win against Hillary, so if they control both houses they will obstruct, obstruct, obstruct, just like they do against President Obama. They would love to paint her as an "ineffective president", just like they do our current one.
ReplyDeleteI think the upcoming election cycle is going to be interesting in spite of Republicans trying to block voters nationwide.
DeleteWe could end up having voters come out in droves and demonstrations could occur if they try to block votes even w/the proper ID.
In my state we are making sure that folks have the proper ID so that they can vote!
I think they've played that hand out.
DeletePeople are getting wise and intolerant of them taking their pay for doing nothing.
If they take the Senate by the time 2016 rolls around voters will be livid at 2 years of nothing getting done but Congress still getting paid.
Even the 'baggers won't tolerate that.
When the Republicans win the Senate next year we will see our country wither and die. The Kochs and religious crazes will finally have control of our system of governing. The office of the President will be nullified. The presidential election will just be a shiny object of distraction. Get ready for real change. The people who need to get out and vote are disconnected and frustrated. They don't watch cable news nor visit blogs.
ReplyDeleteI want to believe Carville. Unfortunately, he doesn't seem to have an ounce of sense left. Did anyone see his appearance on Bill Maher about a month back? He appeared with his wife, she was in full on Palin. Either drunk, stoned or both. I can't believe anyone would appear with a spouse who was so compromised.
ReplyDeleteTEXASMEL
She was stoned on narcotics.. She was post-surgical or post-injury or something like that. She didn't have the sense to stay away and I can't imagine any Democrat being able to talk sense into her- including her husband.
DeleteWhat an odd couple. I can take Carville in small doses, but that Matalin woman is why there's an off button on the remote.
DeleteWe are already watching the hastened "evolution" of our political party system. The GOP was organized in the 19th century to meet the needs of a rising capitalism - a young, less fettered system than old European mode(s.) That party can no longer respond to the problems that our society faces. They simply have no real answers except support the 1% and scare the shit out of "low information" voters so that fear and ignorance determine their voting behaviors. That's all they got- except massive computer hacking /voter fraud.
ReplyDeleteNow I don't think the Dems have all the answers at all. But at least they have some answers and they are willing to ask the hard questions.
A political re-alignment is already underway. I have a feeling that we won't see the end of the party name - Republican. I just think that the base will shift. Remember what happened after the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was passed. Slowly the southern Dems/Dixiecrats became Republicans. We may see a shift that is more in keeping with that one.
Tea Party Challenger Says Boehner Suffers 'Electile Dysfunction' (VIDEO)
ReplyDelete“If you have a Boehner lasting more than 23 years, seek immediate medical attention,” the ad's narrator warns.
http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/boehner-challenger-ad-says-speaker-suffers-electile-dysfunction
"Trust me," Carville warned. "The party knows, and I use this word advisedly, that if it loses the 2016 presidential election, the Republican Party as we know it today will be extinct."
ReplyDeleteIn my mind Carville is one of the more under-handed people ever born and I have no respect for him from a political viewpoint. However, to have him say this is like music to my ears. It couldn't happen to a more deserving group of crooks.
Instead of being so negative - you might say that we all need to talk to friends, family, coworkers, etc. regarding what is going on in our government. I'm doing that already.
ReplyDeleteHave run into a couple of Republicans and their take on things is interesting. They won't talk facts or provide any! It's so apparent they watch FOX and/or listen to Limbaugh!
They will not go away, because there is always a market for racists. They have candidates that are both subtle enough to play to most mainstream prejudices to those who are overt, violent and inflammatory. Sadly, there will likely always be a market for that.
ReplyDeleteCarville is spot on. The GOP is destined to fail because of a variety of issues, the most important one is it's lack of effective leadership and the space between the one percent and the Tea Party/libertarian flavors they've allowed on board.
ReplyDeleteNot having "Christie" and even considering Jeb there, yet allowing Donald Trump to speak shows the stratification. Since when had Donald Trump been considered a serious candidate?
Our local news had a photo op of Chris Christie with a bunch of government workers he's gutting their pay by two percent to balance a two percent drop in property tax, yet all he spoke about was the investigation HE launched and paid for with tax dollars has cleared him of "knowing" about bridgegate. The Grand Jury has more than six months, and it's their opinion that matters.
We need several political parties which serve wider interests, labor, the environment, socialists because the interests being served by the two party system have helped cause the problems we are having. If there are several parties and one becomes corrupted or dysfunctional people can just switch to another that fills the void. That way we avoid not being able make any progress.
ReplyDelete
