For years, advocates of stricter gun laws have rallied at the barricades of the National Rifle Association's annual meeting. But this year, as the gun lobby convenes in Indianapolis, there's a new posse in town. They're mothers, they're survivors of gun violence, and some of them are both. And they're dead set on disarming the NRA of its outsize political power.
They operate as Everytown for Gun Safety, a new organization combining the grassroots group Moms Demand Action, launched after the Sandy Hook massacre, and Michael Bloomberg's Mayors Against Illegal Guns. At a press conference in a packed downtown hotel conference room on Friday, the group unveiled a forceful new report and political ad.
The NRA may have money, and political power at their disposal, but as every son knows all too well, nothing stands long against the power of mom.
I look forward to watching how the NRA tries to respond to this.
Hmm..the only "everytown for gun safety" sites on Facebook in every state, are very, very pro gun and have some pretty awful liberal bashing stuff on their pages. Are you sure that's the name?

ReplyDeleteDoes the NRA and the traitor Sarah Palin support the nuts who have now set up road blocks in Nevada near the Bundy Ranch? Yes, it is being reported that armed men are stopping folks on the highway and demanding to see ID. So much for freedom.
We made huge strides with MADD and we'll do it again for gun safety. A bullet wound is rarely like what's usually envisioned, a small hole with a ring of blood, perhaps a little line of blood. There are weapons on the street that the military can't use. My BIL works in forensics and I've helped him collate briefs, label photos of evidence, diagrams, autopsy reports, crime scene analysis, etc etc etc. My sister usually does the bulk of the work, but when she gets swamped, I'll help as much as I can. I don't do it often, but I've seen photos of victims my own children's age and I can't begin to express just imagining what it does to entire families. .

Also, people will go from here to sites for gun safety and comment. This is one of the few sites keeping an eye on what that crazy, vicious, traitor Palin is up to, and as such this is one of the places to comment on her.

ReplyDeleteGun control doesn't really work. Criminals navigate the law to get firearms. I personally think that any adult with no criminal record and a clean bill of mental health should be able to own any type of gun for self defense.
