President Barack Obama marked the dedication of the long-awaited September 11 Memorial Museum Thursday with families, survivors and rescuers at the site, saying the "sacred place of healing and hope" will ensure that "generations yet unborn will never forget" the worst terrorist attack on U.S. soil.
"It is an honor for us to join in your memories, to recall and to reflect, and above all to reaffirm the true spirit of 9/11: love, compassion, sacrifice and to enshrine it forever in the heart of our nation," the President said before the gray bedrock of the fallen towers.
The very fact that this monument even exists should be the reason that we never again elect a Republican as President of the United States.
So Bush sent his "regards"........he has "art" to churn out......
ReplyDeleteWe never did elect that Republican President. Supreme Court appointed him in 2000 and Rove stole Ohio and the election in 2004.

Thank you. So many people seem to want to forget this, or pretending that Bush actually won in 2000. Also, too, John Roberts was in FL interfering with and stopping the recount process in Bush v. Gore. His appointment as Chief Justice to the Supreme Court was his payment.
DeleteRove was supremely confident that the numbers coming in from Ohio throughout the night that favored President Obama weren’t indicative of who would win Ohio when all the votes were ultimately tabulated by the state's computers. With a quarter of the vote still out there, Rove was anticipating a shift to the Right just after 11 pm, which, coincidentally, is exactly what happened in 2004.
ReplyDeleteThat year, John Kerry and the entire nation were watching Ohio just after the 11pm hour. Florida had just been called for George W. Bush and according to the Electoral College math whoever won Ohio would win the election. And considering that exit polls from the state showed John Kerry with a substantial lead, there were a lot of tense moments for Karl Rove and the Republicans that night.
Then the clock struck 11:14pm, and the servers counting the votes in Ohio crashed.
Sixty long seconds later the servers came back up in Ohio, but now with vote rerouted through SMARTech in Chattanooga. And, coincidentally, Bush’s prospects for re-election were suddenly a lot brighter. The vote totals that poured into the system from SmartTECH's computer in Chattanooga were flipping the exit polls on their head. The lead Kerry had in the exit polls had magically reversed by more than 6%, something unheard of in any other nation in the developed world, giving Bush the win in Ohio and the presidency for another four years.
Everything you stated was true....this country was asleep!!!! Our media allowed this to happen and looking back if Gore had been elected, where would climate change be on our agenda? If Kerry was elected would we have been in Iraq? Those 8 years destroyed the basic fabric of us in so many ways.
DeleteThank goodness for anonymous.
And if I'm not mistaken, some guy name Ken Blackwell was in on also.
DeleteHi Gryphen! Dubya, that old bastard Cheney, Rumsfeld, and Ashcroft - the traitorous Gang Of Four! In their quest to fatten the profits of their corporate masters, countless innocents suffered during their tenure. These criminals must answer for their deceit and lies, in this life or the next!
ReplyDeleteAbbafan, it was a gang of Lord knows how many, Condie, Wolfowitz, all the torture memo lawyers, etc etc. Regardless of who they were doing it for, they committed war crimes. ,
DeleteDont' forget too that C. Rice also supported the war w/Cheney, Rumsfeld and Ashcroft - and Bush!
DeleteIt still gets me that those in charge REFUSE to admit responsibility - bush, rice, hayden, rumsfeld, tenet, and especially DICK. Just refuse. THIS is their place in history. The whole lot of them should be ashamed to show their faces at the memorial.
ReplyDeleteIt's cool having such young couples that do things like this together.
ReplyDeleteLast paragraph: AMEN, brother Jesse!
ReplyDeleteWhere's the fucking shrub? It happened on his watch.
ReplyDeleteThe very fact that we went into Iraq under made up pretenses and all the death and destruction that ensued as a result should be another reason we never again elect a Republican as POTUS. And Gryphen, you didn't include a picture of Bush or Cheney at the dedication. Oh wait, for once they showed some decency and didn't show up.
ReplyDeleteLove the president, but can someone explain how "the true spirit of 9/11: love, compassion, sacrifice:" reflects reality?
ReplyDeleteThere were certainly individual acts that embodied those qualities, but they are hardly the 'true spirit' of that horrible event.
Comprehension problem? Somehow, I doubt that Pres Obama was saying the event of 911 reflected the "true spirit'. I thing he was referring to the FACT the the people in this country and the world came together in a way that reflects "love, compassion, sacrifice".
DeleteI mean, really now.
Love the Clintons and Obamas - especially when they appear together.
ReplyDeleteIt's wonderful having President Obama in office two terms and the same will be true for Hillary Clinton should she run for POTUS. She will be elected and the Republicans are literally going to shit their draws and fight her every step of the way. The Clintons know how to handle the assholes better than any others in politics! Especially the creep Karl Rove! They will literally eat his lunch and perhaps put him in the hole forever!
Sincerely would love seeing Hillary and Bill in the White House again. As a couple - they have the MOST experience in politics in our country.
So love the Obamas and the Bidens! Good job guys! You've done extremely well in spite of the Republicans obstruction since day one!
VOTE as many Republicans out of office (across the nation) that you can in the upcoming elections. They are a horrid party mainly because they are ANTI everything! Check their individual records - not what they say - but, how they vote!
Like to infinity and beyond!
DeleteThere's some great Sousa Photos of the event on Whitehouse.org and Obama Diary linked on the left. I watched part of the speech President Obama gave and it was so very moving. Made me proud of our current administration. What I recalled while he spoke, was when he gave the Seals the order to take Osama Bin Rottin' out, President Obama extended his hand and offered President GWBush a chance to speak, which he declined. That, alone, showed the true character of the two men.
ReplyDeleteFor all the benghazi balogna the GOP has hashed and rehashed, for all the obstruction and disrespect shown this first family, they've always stood tall, above the fray, and have done the best they could for the people they represent.
I'm sure he had his reasons, but the first order of business should have been bringing any of em all of em up on war crimes. When Condi Rice was brought before the committee, she evoked the "I don't recall" Nixon schtick, until someone asked her to read just the heading of ONE E mail cc'd to her which proved they knew it was an unjust war. They were Warned of an impending attack and did nothing. All of them have written books and tried to whitewash and change history, but history won't be kind to any of them.
The ashes of the victims, the blood spilled by our brave military, abu gareb, waterboarding, and the deaths of countless innocent people can't be washed away by the soothing waters of this memorial.
The people in that photo will hold a special place in the history of our country and our standing in the world.
