Christian radio host arrested for sexual assault involving a minor. I believe I have written some variation of this same headline multiple times now.

Courtesy of M Live:

John Balyo, the WCSG radio personality arrested Friday on a sex assault allegation involving a young boy, was taken into custody at the Big Ticket Festival, one of the nation's largest Christian music events, police confirmed.

Balyo, 35, of Caledonia, was arrested about 11:30 a.m. June 20 without incident, Battle Creek police Sgt. Jim Martens said.

Martens said Balyo was identified through investigations following the arrest of another man, Ronald Moser, of Battle Creek. Moser was arrested after police searched his residence on June 5.

The charge against Balyo involves a single incident in May, Martens said. Homeland Security Investigation agents allege he paid a man, identified as Moser, to arrange a sexual encounter with a minor. Martens declined to discuss specific details of the case against Balyo.

Earlier it was reported that Balyo had been placed on paid leave, but now the radio station is saying that he is no longer affiliated with them.

Gee, ya think?

You know just the other day I was asked by the parent of a young boy that I am working with whether or not I am gay. Of course the subtext being that people believe that gay men are more likely to also be pedophiles.

That of course is incorrect, but part of the reason that such prejudice continues is that some churches either actively push that meme, or subtly suggest it from the pulpit.

In fact you may remember that even Vladimir Putin used that argument in order to oppress homosexuals in Russia.

However from my perspective it really seems that if one were to try and link pedophilia to one demographic it would overwhelmingly be that of Christians. And more appropriately, Evangelical or Fundamentalist Christians.

I'm just saying.

You might make that fundamentalists of all sorts -- cults, Hassidic Jews, varieties of Mormons who prey on the young. Any group with rigid rules and secrecy can keep their furtive practices from prying eyes. All the better if their cult proclaims them to be morally superior to the rest of mankind.

    1. Yup, it seems to be a sure fire formula for abuse.

Ya know what - I think maybe it should be a "profile factor!" Morally superior finger pointers - we're on to ya-- just watch where ya put yer fingers.

  2. They're raised to be sneaky and hypocritical. They see that behavior in adults from the time they're toddlers. They see sin of all types, asking for forgiveness, and then merrily moving along as if nothing happened. If they're immersed in that kind of Christianity all their life, they're genuinely astonished when another section of society calls them out. They thought everyone did it.

Regarding Putin, he was smallish and may have had bad childhood experiences. He took up martial arts to save himself. He confuses homosexuality and pedophilia.

I have to admit, about 2 out of 5 Christian Fundie men I meet are definitely repressing SOMETHING. They are odd!

The other 3 - 2 are just misogynistic assholes, and 1 will be o.k. but usually trying hard to hide a superiority complex.

As a young woman I was preyed upon by a man eventually arrested for pedophilia. He was an evangelical Christian with a fervor that bordered on obsessive behavior. Creepy.

I have another Male Christian Pedophile story for you. I will make it short. My husband is a Fire Captain. His Engineer, a DEVOUT Christian and major homophobe was arrested for his relationship with a teenage boy who went to his church.

This boy trusted this "fireman" - and the fireman even brought the kid to the station as he was "helping him become responsible" by helping out at the fire station.

"Ray" - fit the profile to a T! Overly religious, homophobe, married, straight man with a family!

When my kids were in grade and high school, I was active and volunteered as a teacher's aide. There were four teachers who were in committed gay relationships (that we knew of). This was a public school, and the principal (male) decided to do an inquisition and find a way to handle the situation, should word get out. He's a nice man, the pillar of the community, married to a woman and has two kids. Anyhoo, your notation about males being pedophiles played into his inquest. The three male same sex relationships were thoroughly investigated, but the lesbian couple wasn't given the same microscopic Private Eye treatment the men got. Nothing ever came of it, no letters were sent, no one lost their job and they were stellar people and teachers.
The pillar of the community? He resigned his position because of similar circumstances to the man in this post.
I'm sure this nightmare must cross the minds of men involved in teaching children, and it's so unfair and degrading. I've seen female teachers treat kids horribly and get away with it.

I wonder if a case could be made for the proposition that once you start believing in things that aren't real,
that once you are deceived into accepting crazy shit as your reality,
that as your belief system gets further and further from hard facts and empirical data...
it could possibly open your mind to sicker and sicker pursuits
and since your whole support system is based in fantasy,
complete with imaginary beings and spirits,
some of which might even "talk to you"...
you eventually might use your delusion to justify your pathetic, twisted impulses
    ...
    As I've said here before:
    belief in nonsense
    is
    NOT
    harmless.

Except statistics say otherwise. Not only is the urge more prevalent among homosexual men (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/1556756), when they do offend they tend to offend many more times per offender than heterosexual pedophiles 9http://www.rense.com/general24/reportpedophilia.htm).

Here's another question for you: if this man recently arrested turns out to be not only a Christian talkshow hose, but also a homosexual, how will that affect your hateful attitude toward Christians?

    1. Most pedophiles self identify as heterosexuals, are religious and married.
I hate Christians and I am a religious Christian. As ye sow, so shall ye reap.
Your source is garbage. Too little explication of methodology for comfort.
