It's Monday so let's start it off with something sweet.

A little girl was bothered that her daddy worked too hard, so she wrote a letter on his behalf to his employer, who happened to be Google.

Just in case you can't read it clearly:

Dear Google Worker,

Can you please make sure when daddy goes to work, he gets one day off. Like he can get a day off on Wednesday. Because daddy only gets a day off on Saturday.

 From, Katie

P.S. It is Daddy's BIRTHDAY

P.P.S. It is summer, you know

Yeah, it's summer you know.

Believe it or not, Katie's dad's boss at Google wrote back.

Wow, he got a whole week off for vacation. Nicely done Katie!

You know the only time my daughter got me out of work was when I had to use vacation days to stay home with her when she caught chicken pox.

We still kind of had fun. You know in between the itching and applications of calamine lotion.

Doesn't Google have a vacation policy for its employees? How many hours a week are Google employees supposed to work? Our European friends have five to six weeks of paid vacation time and are required to work less than the 40 hours that I was required to work. We really should have a national policy for work hours and paid vacation in this country. As in many areas that are important to the lives of individuals and families, this country is far behind other countries.

Beaglemom in cali we have labor laws here. If he was working so hard it is by choice meaning he is on "salary" and not hourly. Labor laws cover hourly. And vacay? Well for google I'm sure they get plenty of vacay time, other workplaces not so much. And Repubs don't even want to PAY Minimum wage, let along VACATIONS!
But yes, the google story is BS. We have labor laws here.
I call BS on it. But google thinks everyone is stupid.

Americans are scared to take paid time off, they might miss something, or the promotion or....

Notice how the girl asked for a day off and google told the dad to use his vacation time for the week.

Yes they are. I was fired for taking vacation, but I just took the asshole to the labor board. Got my week Vacay + severance pay to drop the case.
The employer was pissed b/c I was telling the illegals they had rights! Like OT and vacay.
Of course now a days in this Republican dominated bs environment now....THERE STILL is a LABOR board in CALI!
Yeah he was not a nice person.

  3. About 5 years ago, my mother (at about age 85) developed shingles after she 1) had surgery to remove a tumor (everything's fine now), then 2) developed pneumonia during her recovery from surgery. Plus she had been anemic for at least 6 months before the surgery. So her immune system had been working hard. A few months after Mom had shingles, a friend of mine (2 years younger than me) also developed shingles. I did like you, but went to Walgreens. And my health insurance paid the full cost.

Kids are so observant of their surroundings. When I was ill and took a leave of absence, just to keep my daughter busy, I asked her to draw various things. For "Family" she drew me, her sister and her brother. I asked her "Where's Daddy? " and she replied with a frown "At work", It was a temporary arrangement, he's always been involved with the kids, but he had to work more hours because of circumstances, on his day off, he'd rotate and spend a "Special day" with each child.

    Excellent observation and comment, Ted!
Shingles is sheer torture. My mom had it twice, the first time it started in the center of her back and met in the front, she said it was the worst pain she ever dealt with, and she's been through a lot. The second time she got it on her face, including one eye. Three of eight nerves were effected and she had to wear a patch, As soon as the Vaccine became available, we were both in line to get it.

the first time it started in the center of her back

My pharmacist said that the vicinity of the spinal cord is a favorite lurking spot.
