The 2nd Amendment keeps gun owners so safe that two of them were robbed leaving two different gun ranges.

Courtesy of NBC Philadelphia:

Police are asking for the public's help tracking down the second suspect responsible for robbing gun range customers of at least nine weapons and shooting a 67-year-old man.

Authorities identified the missing robber as 27-year-old Jeffrey Chandler.

Officials say Chandler, who stands 5-feet 10-inches tall and weighs about 200 pounds, has numerous tattoos on both arms. The most distinctive tattoo is the word - "Stretch" - located on his right hand, they say.

Investigators say Chandler fired the shot that wounded one of the victims.

Chandler's female accomplice surrendered to authorities after seeing that her face showed up on video surveillance tapes. However Chandler remains on the run, and is considered now heavily armed and dangerous.

Besides the 67 year old, they also robbed a second man as he left a second gun range:

They robbed a 68-year-old man at gunpoint outside Yury's at 544 N. Percy St. around 6:40 p.m. June 11, emptying the victim's pockets and taking off with his backpack, which contained two .22 caliber handguns, according to authorities.

So to be clear these two managed to steal nine weapons from two different armed citizens that they can now use to murder or rob anybody whom they choose.

Yep thank goodness that 2nd Amendment exists to keep people safe from crime, right?

P.S. That kind of reminds me of a conversation I had years ago with a local cop who told me that many burglaries were targeted toward homes that were known to have a large number of weapons on the premises, because guns are incredibly easy to sell once stolen.

Which means instead of an arsenal protecting a homeowner from crime, it actually made them a more desirable target.

He looks very deranged and scary and we call him "cross the street" kind of guy where I live. Eyes are dead an he looks mean and then the tattoos are also a sign of scary people that should not be approached!

LOL I know some people who probably need to rethink those "protected by Smith & Wesson" signs they have on their front lawn...

The people who got robbed must be in such disbelief that their guns couldn't be used in time to protect them and that they were just stripped of them so fast. Irony at its finest.

So then, ... Which of these target shooters was the "good guy with a gun" that was supposed to stop the bad guy with a gun, eh, NRA?

The people who did this were breaking the law, those to whom they did this were complying with the law and had their weapons separated from their ammunition and locked away. Without CCP they were defenseless.

This was all over our local news. There are cameras everywhere, and no I don't feel any safer with these idiots out on the street. If you see something, say something.
The footage of the robbery itself was kind of pathetic. The guys who got robbed were older and looked dazed and confused (don't blame them) they looked like they were being pranked on some show, but at least they're alive and no one got hurt.

  7. I think that most of us see OCT as a group fighting for civil rights and doing so legally. You can disagree with their methods, but their goal is very important and honorable.

  8. The comments seem to not include people that actually go to ranges for training and practice. Every range that I know do not allow guns to be carried on the property. All guns must be cased and unloaded when on the premises unless at the firing line. Gun ranges are effectively "No Gun Zones" for people not at the firing line and when the range is hot.
Maybe, there should be some changes to those policies.

      My thoughts as well.

    2. Most people fail to realize that just becuase there are a number of guns around, look at military bases, doesn't mean those firearms are in ready to fire order. I have been to an indoor range near my home that didn't allow the shooter to enter the building with loaded magazines. The place was a bit stuffy for my taste and I haven't been back since.

This is a misconception. There are no guarantees in a gunfight, obviously. Cherry-picking instances does not prove anything. Moreover, one victim was carrying .22lr pistols, which are generally not used defense weapons. And finally, just because they were coming from a range does not mean the victims had loaded handguns on them at the time.

  10. A couple of points: First, did the victims have concealed weapons permits, and if so were they armed at the time? Even if they were, you cannot outdraw a trigger-pull. If suddenly confronted with a weapon pointed at you, your best course of action is to comply, unless you believe you will be killed regardless.

  11. Stories like these are why it is always a good idea to leave a few rounds at the end of the day unfired to have as a backup. An empty gun is little more than a short club.

Idiot. The only place in PA where concealed carry is against the law is...Philadelphia. The perp no doubt knows this. The victims were obeying the law.

Thank you. It's obvious that leaving the range the guns were cased and locked so they were of little use when confronted by an armed attacker.
