Vance County Sheriff Deputies were called to the home of 84-year-old Lloyd Woodlief late Monday night. A family argument had turned violent, Vance County Sheriff Peter White said, leading Lloyd Woodlief to shoot his 49-year-old son, Lloyd Peyton Woodlief, with a .22 caliber pistol.
Authorities said that they believe the unnamed 11-year-old then shot his grandfather with a 12-gauge shotgun.
Lloyd Peyton Woodlief was taken to Duke Medical Center, where is he recovering from his wounds. His father died on the scene shortly after authorities arrived. The 11-year-old was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon.
“A juvenile petition has been taken out against the 11-year-old,” Sheriff White said. “He is in the custody of juvenile services.”
I am not sure that this boy should be charged with anything.
If he lives in a house where there is violence, and he sees his grandfather shoot his dad, what's he supposed to do?
He responded in the way that he had been taught to respond by the adults in his life.
In my opinion the boy will need a lot of counseling, his father needs to take parenting classes, and the grandfather got what was coming to him.
Unfortunately it's too late for the father and parenting classes are now out of the question.
ReplyDeleteThe grandfather is dead. The boy's father is recouperating in the hospital
DeleteAll the best to this child, and I hope the child's father makes a speedy recovery.
ReplyDeleteSo, three people in a house full of guns. Two shot to death, and the third with a probably ruined life.
ReplyDelete-----------------------------------
So were they good guys with guns or bad guys with guns, NRA?
Coome on, Nefer. I KNOW you can read better than that! Try again, only this time pay attention to the fact that the article quoted stipulated the GRANDFATHER died, but the FATHER is recuperating from his wound.
DeleteOT, on the radio news this morning, they said that Rosie O'Donnell had been offered a position on The View, but that one of her stipulations was that reality stars would not be permitted on the show (unclear whether she meant as co-hosts or guests or both).
ReplyDeleteThere is no doubt in my mind that several of the Kardasians woiuld love that job. No talent, just like the PayMe family. The difference is, they all look clean in public, unlike $carah who looks like she fell out of the "ugly tree" and hit EVERY branch on the way down.

If this happens, Saree is gonna be pissed.
Anon at 6:08 am. None of the Kardashians can converse either; they have extremely limited vocabularies especially if smutty language is not encouraged. And their style of dress is anything but appropriate. Yes, they are a lot like Sarah Palin, just not political.
DeleteBeaglemom
Wasn't Megan supposed to get a reality show of her own? She's ok in small doses, but I don't know if it's a complement or an insult for her to be invited to fill the shoes of Lis and Jen.
DeleteThe story is a bit confusing, but only one person died. Grandfather (Lloyd Woodlief) shot HIS son (Lloyd Peyton Woodlief), who is still alive. The grandson (unnamed because he is a minor) shot and killed Lloyd Woodlief.
ReplyDeleteYou are correct! It's very confusing when they say "his father died"- The subject of the sentence would be the 11 year old, not the 49 year old.

The Foundling Fathers obviously intended that Second Amendments remedies would apply to children, as well as adults. GUNS EVERYWHERE FOR EVERYONE!
ReplyDeleteThat's why parents with firearms (and axes) in the home should always lock their bedroom doors at night and lay awake fearing deadly reprisals from their children for trivial disciplinary actions.
It's called constitutional originalism.

Deranged Tea Partier Will Resort To Cannibalism, Boycotting Restaurants With No-Gun Policies (Video)
ReplyDelete...Rob explained that Target is “not living up to” its name. “They have joined Autozone, Sonic, Wendy’s Jack-in-the-Box, Chip-lee…Chipitlee, whatever the name…It seems that the Mothers Demand Action have used their f*cking mouth and Target has succumbed to their weakness. Somebody needs to do something about MDA. It’s getting to the point with MDA, those f*cking–they can not shut their f*cking mouth. Somebody put a d*ck in their mouth or something. They call theirself mothers. I got a question [...] You mean to tell me how big of a mouth they have, that somebody actually f*cked them and made them a mother? If my wife was one of them, I’d be getting a divorce.”
Rob is single, and has never been married, ladies!

No, Rob.
DeleteBe honest.
You wouldn't divorce her. You'd kill her. In your twisted, angry, insecure mind, an unforgivable "Second Amendment Crime Against Humanity" (i.e., not wanting to shop or eat with gun-toting little douchebags like you) warrants a battlefield summary execution aka Second Amendment Remedy, doesn't it?
So many people to shoot, so little time, eh, Rob?
Divorce? More like a Second Amendment Stand Your Ground Divorce.
DeleteHe's going to resort to cannibalism? What? He doesn't know how to use all those guns he owns to hunt? Isn't that what they are supposed to be for?
What a prize. Single? Probably closet gay. Better find himself a shady 80 beard to marry before he loses all his teeth.
They call theirself mothers. I got a question [...] You mean to tell me how big of a mouth they have, that somebody actually f*cked them and made them a mother? If my wife was one of them, I’d be getting a divorce.”
DeletePoor Marc. Has anyone sat him down and explain that his parents did the nasty, and enjoyed it, so his mother could call herself a mom?
How stupid does one have to be to get " Chip-lee…Chipitlee, whatever the name" from "Chipolte"?
Cannibalism, Rob? When people say "Eat Me", they don't mean it literally.
Ha! Another NRA relationship gone bad.
ReplyDeleteIf there were ever a case of Stand your Ground this would be it.
ReplyDeleteChild sees Father shot and probably fears for his life.
This kid doesn't belong in the criminal justice system, this child needs counselling, a lot of love and support from people who understand. It's not his fault his pop and grandpop are irresponsible gun owners who's only answer to conflict resolution is maiming and or killing. As far as I'm concerned, he's the only victim here. Kids learn what they live.
ReplyDeleteI do hope his dad recovers, but still feel the kid should be removed.
To those of you who do not know the whole story about the 11 year old shooting his grandfather....this situation goes deeper than any of you can imagine. The grandfather was protecting himself, his wife, and his oldest daughter from a deranged son. He only shot his 49 year old son when the son lunged at him with a police like baton and threated to bash in the elders head. The 49 year old also handed the loaded shotgun to the 11 year old and told him to shoot his grandfather. In this situation, the grandfather was the only one in the right protecting his home and family.
ReplyDeleteI do feel for the 11 year old because his father is a nut job. His father had no right to put him into a situation of this caliber. The 49 year old son went to his parents home with the intention of harming his father, knowing putting the 11 year in danger.
Take this information and ponder over who is right and who is wrong. Judgement day will come for all involved.
I am close to this family and you can believe this or not. I know the elder Woodlief is with God, the son has no remorse, and the 11 year old will have a hard life ahead of him. I can only pray that what he has encountered does not totally damage him for the rest of his life and he can get professional help.
You have it wrong. The elder Woodlief shot his unarmed son and shot at his grandson twice. I hardly believe that the elder Woodlief is with God. You're right about one thing, the father had no right to drag his son into the dispute, and the elder had no right to shoot at his grandson. The father is charged but if the elder had lived he would have been charged too.
DeleteLloyd Woodlief wasn't innocent...he shot at his own grandson. Daniel's case was dismissed based on self-defense.
