Certain wingnutty GOP Congressmen have a theory as to why there are so many immigrant children streaming across the border.

Congressman Steve Stockman
Courtesy of Gawker:

During the last fiscal year, the U.S. Border Patrol documented 38,833 unaccompanied minors attempting to cross the border into the United States: a 59 percent increase over the previous year. Today, officials and advocacy groups estimate that the agency may apprehend as many as 74,000 of these young unattended migrants by year's end.

U.S. Congressmen Steve Stockman (R-Texas) and Steve King (R-Iowa) recently put forward an interesting theory as to why this crisis is happening now and how we can humanely resolve it. Rational adults can debate these things. As the two lawmakers told World Net Daily, a web-based news portal, they believe that President Barack Obama has consciously tailored his administration's immigration policies to engineer just such a humanitarian crisis, endangering tens of thousands of children for partisan gain.

"Obama follows all the far-left, Leninist, socialist-type stuff," Congressman Stockman explained to the news portal, adding that it's "an open secret Obama is trying to flood Texas with illegals to make it into a blue state."

"If we lose Texas, and it becomes like California, then the Republicans lose the chance of ever getting a Republican elected president."

Yes the President is inviting a flood of young children from other countries to cross the border illegally so that in ten years or so when they are old enough to vote they will be Democratic army that will keep the bad old Republicans out of the White House.

Do you know I think is keeping the Republicans out of the White House?

The Republicans.

You know here's the thing, if the Republicans were really concerned with new immigrants providing an unstoppable voting block for the Democratic party, then why don't they work with the President to solve the crisis?

It seems to me that by insulting these immigrants and blocking every attempt to help them achieve citizenship, they are essentially engaging in a self fulfilling prophecy.

They expect all of these new Americans to vote Democratic, so they make themselves into enemies of the immigrants, and lo and behold when they get the right to vote they do indeed vote for the Democrats who championed their cause, and not the Republicans who treated them as if they were less than human.

I don't like to give them too much credit but Jeb and George W. Bush know better than this, and it might be one of the few times that it would serve the Republicans well to listen to their advice.

  1. So . . . how did the President get the parents of these kids to just let them go so he could make political hay out of their children maybe being harmed or killed during the process.
"Hey--wanna make me look good and make the GOP congress
    have a bad few weeks"?

    Damn, the baggers are stupid.

The Steves have become the standard bearers for republican stupidity. There was a time they would have been shut down and punished for making their party look stupid. Now . . . well, stupid is their party.

For someone who they claim is so incompetent, it sure is impressive that he can control people in countries thousands of miles away from the US and convince them to give up their children so he can have some photo ops.

Oh, I guess that Obama is back to being a tyrant this week. It must have been LAST week that he was incompetent. It's so hard to keep track of these things!

I suspect that most of the parents whose children are flooding our borders have never heard of Barack Obama.

Actually there are people in those countries who are manipulating and lying to parents. Human Trafficking is big business (challenging drug trafficking as gps). The poor parents are told how easy it is to come to America, streets are lined with gold type build up.

American officials are going there and trying to educate the people about what is happening and the dangers. This time it is not the WH that is not creating this, but they will be blamed.

As we know no one would ever go south and interfer in another country. It is only bad guys without faces that lie and deceive and make money from contraband.

It would not surprise me one bit for America to learn at some future date that the Republicans were behind this huge influx of people coming into America from other countries.

Who travels most outside our country - that is a Republican - a member of Congress - and very much dislikes President Obama and would love to see him fail??? Dah.......
      John McCain!

An investigation should be done, but suspect President Obama and his Administration have already thought of this possibility!

If any American in Congress did initiate this influx of people - they should be put on trial and put to death!

They are not being screened for deadly infectious diseases leaving Americans vulnerable to serious illness and possible death. Tuberculosis, chicken pox and hand and foot disease are on the rise and fears of an Ebola outbreak are real.

You put this on another post downstream. The Ebola tragedy has been unfolding in Africa. And "hoof and mouth" disease is not a human disease. Have you never watched the James Herriot series? Probably not; it aired on PBS some years ago.

      Chicken pox?
Gimme a break. Paranoid bagger. You have foot in the mouth disease.

Those of us who have had our shots do not need to worry about those diseases. The children will be inoculated - that will be a priority!

One more example of why childhood inoculations are so important to preventing the spread of disease.

It's a Christian male thing. Every overtly Christian man I have ever know suffers from the "if a little is good, then a complete and total BUTTLOAD will be better!". They have no sense of nuance or limits.

Why do all the white - middle aged or older - American men - that are politicians - look physically so awful? Not one of them is attractive! Take Stockman - with that horrible wide-opened hole on his face - he appears nothing more than frightening and nasty!

Not only are Republican/Teabagger men unattractive and ugly - they are pure meanness!

Just who do the Republican's think are going to vote for them?
They've alienated EVERY SINGLE demographic including the rational white people. The only people who will vote for them are neo-conservative white males, and ideological religious conservatives. Both of which are loosing numbers, not gaining them.

I guess when you lock yourself into a bubble and refuse to see what is happening around you, you keep on making these kinds of self-inflicted wounds.

    1. Their districts are safe through some serious gerrymandering. Now its all about billionaire
money in their hands and vacations they no longer
have to openly admit to from the billionaires.

That's exactly why they're working so hard to promote laws that suppress the votes of all the people who are NOT right wing middle-aged white evangelical males.

Between the gerrymandering and the voter suppression, as well as the uneducated morons who will vote for an 'R' despite that being against their own interests, the GOP still has a lock on far too many seats.
