It's hard to believe that the Simpsons are on the Fox channel sometimes.

Yes before Fox had Cosmos blowing conservative minds with knowledge they simply did not want to learn, there were the Simpsons ridiculing both them and their sacred cows on a weekly basis.

  1. It's been more than 15 years since Washington Post TV critic Tom Shales said, "'The Simpsons' singlehandedly justifies the existence of the Fox Network." That's still more truth than exaggeration.

  2. Shows that Fox is an entertainment channel -- appealing to both the evolved and unevolved.

Correction: Fox is NOTHING MORE THAN an entertainment channel. Murdoch doesn't care how the money keeps coming in, so long as it does. My bet is that his infotainment department generously called Fox News Division will eventually evolve as its most faithful followers die out. It's not bringing in the 20-49 demographic, which is what his advertisers want.

Gryphen, I do not usually comment here but I just had to mention this...the large (large as in my dad's nickname for it was "the god complex") baptist church I attended as a child saw the preacher railing against the Simpsons when they first became a weekly feature on fox. Less than three years later, he said "I was wrong. If we would all demonstrate the dedication to our family members as the Simpson family does theirs, this world would be a much better place".

I only bring this up because I think it's doubly interesting that the Simpsons manages to indwell truly touching "life lessons" within the snark and boorish behavior. I think it will go down in history as a truly evolved television show compared to all others, not just others in the "grown up cartoon" genre.

There's more "truth" in "The Simpsons" than on the entire Fox line up, including the alternative universe known as "Fox News".
