Grandmother shoots grandson thinking him an intruder. Another example of that 2nd Amendment keeping us safe.

Courtesy of the AP:

A grandmother shot and critically wounded her 7-year-old grandson early Tuesday after mistaking him for an intruder who had broken into her home, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said.

Linda Maddox, 63, and her twin grandsons were sleeping in a bedroom after her son, who is the boy's father, had left for work at the postal service, deputies said. Maddox told deputies she had placed a chair against the bedroom door handle for extra protection while they slept.

When she heard the chair sliding against the wood floor about 1 a.m. Tuesday, she assumed it was an intruder and grabbed a loaded .22-caliber revolver she keeps by the bed and fired one shot in the dark toward the door.

Seconds later, she heard her grandson Tyler Maddox scream, deputies said. He was shot once in the upper body. He was taken to a hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.

An elderly woman, with young children in the house, blinding firing into the darkness.

That is the America that the NRA has helped to create.

Can she be charged with stupidity and negligence? This is getting so very painful to read. Reminds me of the states where sex education is banned and rates of teen pregnancy are way higher than the national average. I think we can call it "cause and effect".

Black Open Carry Advocates Marched In Dallas

Open Carry advocates marched down the streets of Dallas, Texas but this protest was different. This march included members from the Huey P. Gun Club which was named after the founder of the original Black Panther Party. The group which included members of the New Black Panther Party, promoted self-defense and community policing in response to recent police shootings.

  5. She heard the door being slid aside so she figured it was an intruder?

But the door was inside her room so the only way it
could be moved that way was if someone in the room did it.
And the only ones in the room were her and her grandsons.
    STUPID woman.

Woman Killed By Orlando Officer’s Stray Bullet

Like most millennials, Maria loved partying and hanging out with her friends.

So she took a weekend girls trip to Orlando, visiting some of the theme parks, before ending up at Vixen Bar in downtown Orlando sometime Monday night, family said.

The 22-year-old woman — identified by police as Maria Fernanda Godinez but also known as Maria Castillo — wouldn't make the return trip home to Cocoa, Fla., with her friends.

She was shot by an Orlando officer's stray bullet about 12:45 a.m. Tuesday during a police struggle with a gun-wielding man outside the bar. She was pronounced dead at an area hospital.

What did they have that she was so vigilant about intruders? Poor kid probably had to go to the bathroom. Woman sounds mentally incompetent.

The level of fear and paranoia we see with these gun owners is astonishing. They've been brainwashed into thinking they will safe from intruders if they have a loaded weapon within reach but in so many cases now it is not intruders that they shoot but their own family members. So sad.

I suspect that the site got pulled because she was cheating, as usual, by offering free content and also charging for the same content and Tapp, her bosses, were not happy about it. She's such a grifter, she sees nothing wrong in double dipping, so to speak. She's so horrifically hungry for attention that she will do near anything, including breaking laws and agreements, to get it. That drugged out video response to Warren was mocked relentlessly, around the world. I suspect her Tapp people were NOT happy she took those desperate steps to gain more of an audience. All she did is diminish her 'brand', once again, and illustrate her ignorance and mean girl tactics. Everyone is growing so tired of her bullshit and even the C4Peer's are seeing the writing on the wall. She's washed up, and the Palin curse it wreaking havoc on nearly every political race she sticks her nose into. I LOVED this article, it really nailed her on every count:

This is what happens when the NRA and others like Faux News work tirelessly to convince unthinking people that living is the US is extremely dangerous and that the only way to protect yourself and your home is to arm yourself to the teeth and shoot first and assess the situation later. And now we have stand-your-ground laws that protect people's rush to judgment based on the NRA's distorted presentations of the dangers of living in the US.

How many home invasions actually occur across the country each year? Aren't there statistics that demonstrate that most home robberies occur during the day when people are mostly out of the house? But you never hear actual statistics from the NRA. You only hear and see about gruesome break-ins and murders,

I'm sure this poor grandmother is suffering greatly from her actions. But I have to wonder if her neighborhood is actually that unsafe that she has to resort to keeping a gun by her bed and barricading her grandchildren in her bedroom with her or if she and her grandson are just more victims of the NRA's greedy hype?

And if the chair is on the INSIDE of the door, how in hell would anyone slide it across the floor from the other side? Did she barricade the door and then leave the windows open? Did she not think a 7 year old might have to use the bathroom during the night? Good Lord, this is the LAST person who should own a gun.

And the dad entrusts these two little boys to someone with obviously poor judgment who happens to keep a gun in the same room where they were all sleeping??????????????
I do not blame the NRA... I blame the woman and other dumbasses like her for buying into the NRA crap. Of course, propping a chair against a door is so clever in the first place. What if there were a fire? I pray the child recovers fully and that the son finds a competent sitter.

It was a tragedy but not an accident. There is something terribly wrong with this woman that she lives in such terror. She needs psychiatric help. For a 63 year-old woman to blockade herself in with two grandchildren at night is bizarre behavior and the unnecessary phone calls to the police? Something really wrong there. I wonder if her son realized how unbalanced she was.

Did the gun just "go off"? Or was there a finger on the trigger? Did she drop a loaded gun and it went "boom"? How else can I put it so you'd understand? It's 1:30 in the morning, Grandma's redneck alarm system went off, she grabbed the gun and shot at a door, not knowing her grandson accidentally happened to be on the other side of the accidental false alarm redneck motion detector, the bullet left the chamber accidentally, and the kid's accidentally in critical condition.

Not only that, she has called the police 12 times about supposed intruders, but nothing ever came of any of the calls.

    From the story:

"Sheriff's spokeswoman Cristal Bermudez Nunez said Maddox felt unsafe when her son would work overnight, so she would bring her grandchildren into the bedroom with her and block the door with a leaning chair. She said deputies have been called to the house 12 times since 2005, including a call about a suspicious person on June 20, 2011, and a suspicious vehicle last Jan. 2. None of those calls turned into anything significant, she said.

No charges have been filed against Maddox."

People like her should not be anywhere near firearms, or even penknives.

Hey 8:49-"Let the 2nd amendment live" but as a result let the children die? Isn't that an intelligent observation. The 2nd Amendment was never intended to allow untrained people to be heavily armed able to shoot anything and everything they feel are a threat. "Well-regulated militia" is not this grandmother.

Fox News has the country so paranoid. Years back a Fox news fanatic got on my case because I was going to be hiking on the Appalachian Trail without a firearm to protect me. Who the hell is going to try and rob a hiker? Hiking with a full pack would make it nearly impossible to access a gun quickly. What am I going to be robbed of... trail mix, or beef jerky? I no longer associate that "Fox News person". So sick of the fear and ignorance.

So the son's a postal worker and mom goes postal on a door, shooting her grandson, and people call it an "accident"? She's called the police tons of times before, and no one thought "Hmmm, maybe granny should be evaluated to care for twins while owning a gun".
    I wouldn't trust a goldfish to this woman's care,
