Look, a new children's book about being raised in a family of Ammosexuals. Gotta love America.

Courtesy of Raw Story:

The co-founders of Michigan Open Carry have published a children’s book extolling the virtues of having fun while openly brandishing loaded firearms.

My Parents Open Carry tells the story of “13-year-old Brenna Strong along with her mom, Bea, and her dad, Richard [spending] a typical Saturday running errands and having fun together,” according to the book’s official site. However, “[w]hat’s not so typical is that Brenna’s parents lawfully open carry handguns for self-defense.”

The book’s authors, Brian Jeffs and Nathan Nephew, claim that they were inspired to write the book because they “looked for pro-gun children’s books and couldn’t find any. Our goal was to provide a wholesome family book that reflects the views of the majority of the American people, i.e., that self-defense is a basic natural right and that firearms provide the most efficient means for that defense.”

I will assume that this book will be found in the fairy tale section of your local book store?

Take a look at this page courtesy of AATTP:

Yep, pure fantasy.

Just what this country needs, another book aimed at indoctrinating youngsters into a fantasy world that bears no resemblance to reality.

Isn't making them read the Bible enough?

As Bill Maher said, "what is the man doing with his hand? And why are they using their daughter as a human shield?"

Remember when open carry meant having your bottle beer in your hand and had nothing to do with guns? Waybackwhen.

  4. Why would a sane person look for a pro-gun children's book?

There are thinking errors by these gun nuts. If I see a person with a gun I suspect they are the bad guys intent on using the gun to commit a crime. I do not identify random persons as the police or undercover law enforcement agents who would identify themselves.

I also identify them as a menace who seek to intimidate others, a nut case who believes physical violence and murder is the only way to handle situations and or possibly a mentally ill person going postal.

My point is that most people are not thinking what these people tell themselves "oh look Jane! There is a stranger with a gun. See Dick, we are so safe!"

Even if they're wearing a confederate flag shirt so you know they're a "patriot"? ;)

  9. What I do not understand is: Where do these people get the idea that the world is sooooo dangerous that they must have a gun on them AT ALL TIMES?

That is what I think a lot of these pro-gun people do not get: It's not really a question about rights. It is their perception of reality that seems off to everybody else.

I have a magical rock that keeps tigers away. I take it everywhere I go and have not yet been attacked by a tiger, so I know it works.

The world became "dangerous" once a progressive African-American took the White House. That's all there is to it.

It's interesting that the NRA never touts the statistics of how many people's lives were saved due to guns versus how many deaths/injuries due to: mishandling, kids getting ahold of them, people stealing them and using them in crimes, crimes of passion and suicides...

I wonder why that would be?

Study: Greatest Terrorism Threat In America Not Al Qaeda, It’s Right-Wing Sovereign Citizens

Radical right-wing groups who refuse to recognize the authority of the federal government, like those who flocked to Bundy Ranch and now parade around the U.S.-Mexico border, represent the clearest threat to their communities, even more so than Islamic terrorists or white supremacist groups.

That’s the takeaway from a new landmark study by the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Response to Terrorism (START). The group surveyed hundreds of law enforcement officials and over 170 agencies across the United States in an effort to understand how the people tasked with stopping terrorism view the threats on the ground.

What the team discovered was that the notion of Islamic extremists plotting to blow buildings was far less likely than homegrown so-called “Sovereign Citizens” who stockpile weapons and hold a seething resentment towards the federal government. Consequently, 86 percent of those interviewed agreed that this movement posed a “serious terrorist threat,” the highest of any group inquired about.

No pro-gun children's books?!? Next thing you'll be telling me is that there are no pro-slavery, pro-mutilation, pro-discrimination, and/or pro-murder children's books too! Oh, wait a minute, that's what the bible is.

I guess we should all just be happy that Pistol Packin' Pete isn't fondling his 13-year-old "purity ball" date. Yeesh, this bizarre "family" culture is beyond all rational comprehension.

I wonder where they find the numbers to say that the "majority" of Americans believe as they believe. I know no one who thinks it is a great idea to open-carry while going about daily life! Maybe the majority of their equally deluded friends, but not the majority of Americans for sure!

Christ, even the illustrations are creepy. Look at the cover: they all have the same face! I'm guessing that the family that open carries together also fucks together.

I think it reveals a lot about the kind of person who is involved in this that even concealed carriers are considered indoctrinated enemies of freedom who cause bank robberies by not representing their 2A cause.

Brenna can't wait until she turns 16, gets her license to drive and her own 9mm Glock. Then, if Richard doesn't give her the keys to the family car, she can bust a cap in his ass.

Do we live in the "wild, wild West" again? A "wild, wild West" every living American has experienced only through the magic of Hollywood and Louis Lamour? A highly romanticized "wild, wild West" with black hats and white hats, sheriffs' stars, jangling spurs, ponderosa pines, & c.? Sheesh.

In the "wild, wild West," I believe history's statistics show that in the worst year of killing - there were 7 (count them - 7) deaths. Some cities today (barring the massacres) have that many deaths in a day.

Apparently this "book" was written before the unfortunate violence at a Walmart store where a carrying civilian was killed by a woman who was one of a pair of killers.

"Brenna's dad told the man that he never heard of a person openly carrying a handgun being a target or shot during a robbery."

    Jesus H. Christ on crutches.

You know, I've never heard one of these wannabe heroes stopping a robbery or mass-shooting either. Instead, they insist upon thinning out their own herds by shooting themselves (and innocent others) during "safety demonstrations."

I suppose we owe them a debt of "thanks" for that "contribution" to humanity and enlightenment.

    Losers all of them.

Now Sarah Palin has yet another victimhood rival: the misunderstood and misrepresented open carry crowd! Well, I, for one, have zero tolerance for them. It also just occurred to me that this might be a possible next book for Bristol's book club or maybe Sarah Palin could feature it on her web-channel-station or whatever it is.

The authors of this book does not understand children's literature. You can't just write your talking points next to some drawings and call it a children's book.

Any Adult that exposes children to this lunacy deserves to be brought up on charges of child abuse. Children's minds don't work this way, there has to be some believable thread that runs through a story line, all I see is repetitive excuses for the parents to justify carrying a gun in the open, which protects no one in any way whatsoever.
