Mitch McConnell's campaign manager resigns most likely due to 2012 political payola scandal.

Courtesy of TPM:

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell’s (R-KY) campaign manager, Jesse Benton, announced his resignation amid questions about his alleged role in 2012 Iowa bribery scandal.

According to the Kentucky Herald-Leader, Benton met with McConnell on Friday afternoon and gave the top Senate Republican his letter of resignation, which McConnell accepted.

Benton's resignation is effective Saturday.

Gee, I wonder what ole Jesse did to get the heave ho like that?

Could it be bribing an Iowa state Senator into endorsing Ron Paul?

Nah, that couldn't be it, could it?

Personally I think this is a pretty good indication that McConnell is feeling the heat in Kentucky.

There was a time that Mitchy would have circled the wagons to defend his boy and claim it was all a liberal attack to undermine his campaign.

But not anymore, oh no, not anymore.

  1. O/T I left the link to Baldy's stupid ass video of her babbling about when she ran for VP on the last thread...here it is again.

Best part is at around the 1:20 mark Baldy picks up a little fluffy dog! Well that puppy must belong to Wallow because it starts biting the shit out of Baldy the entire time she's holding him/her till finally Baldy had to put the dog down!! ROFLMAO!

Kids and animals don't like Sarah Palin! What does that tell you folks?

They say dogs and kids are good judges of character. Obviously, $carah does not appeal to animals or kids since this dog bites, and Trig slaps!!

I watched part of it but didn't see the poor puppy part. What I did see was some of the most idiotic sounding speech and facial expressions I have ever seen. She comes off as if she is making up the whole thing with expressions that I have never seen anyone make. She looks(and sounds) stupid, retarded (I know that's a bad word but it seems to fit)
drunk or high or both. Why would anyone watching possibly think she is capable of doing anything remotely having to do with governing anything, much less the USA.
Thanks for the link. It didn't change my opinion of her just cemented the one I already had.

    4. I just went to the link you provided of Palin and didn't see the dog in her video that you mentioned. Did she see your post and go back and edited out the dog in her video? If so, it may be an indication she pays more attention to Gryphen's web site that we originally thought.

If she's letting people watch that for free, she still needs subscribers for her blog.

Over the years, Sarah's mannerisms have gotten more and more strange. She makes funny faces, waves her hands around and her speech changes every few seconds. One minute she is whispering and sexy. The next minute she is wacko. Six years ago! Sarah is still rehashing her appearance on Jay Leno's show. Next, she'll air her grievances against Katie Couric, David Letterman, Bill Maher, Kathy Griffin and any one else who has made fun of her.

I made it until 3:52 and didn't see a dog. Sorry, but I can't take anymore of her. She has so many bad on camera habits. She really needs a coach, not just for elocution. She looks up all the time, a sign she's processing information. Why isn't she already prepared to answer this? She picked the topic. Also, the thing she does with her fist. Seems unable to stop making a fist to underline her points. What's with that? In a few minutes, she made the first 3 times - an uncontrollable reflex? There's so much more but I can't take watching her. For someone who was groomed by the RNC and has been on media for 6 years now (and with a supposed BA in journalism), she's a total fail. (And that's not even approaching the failure of the content of what she says).

The dog doesn't come on until almost the end of the performance. Something like 21:20 or so.

She picks up the white dog near the end of that "sample" video from her "channel", just before she adjusts the flag pillow on her side. (She is wearing the same outfit as the one she had on when showing off her, I mean Trig's, dog Jill Hadassah. ) The video Gina references is long, but it's incredible to hear SP say in the middle of it that she has NEVER watched her convention speech and NEVER watches herself on TV - anyone who believes that is as crazy as she is! The pulling on the back of her hair (wig) is so very odd, and she again does a bunch of weird things with her mouth. After she bashes President Obama later in the video, she praises her VP JV B-Team squad and supporters. Becky' s name is mentioned. The most hilarious part comes near the very end when she claims that what people say about her doesn't bother her! Oh my, is she ever delusional. The Pee Pond folks really, really think that she will run because she says that the Palin's will do whatever they can for the country. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

      The pooch was edited out.

The rest of it felt like being stuck next to an aging barfly -- former football player who was remembering his one great pro season, or a failed vice presidential
candidate who's recalling ever second of her brief time in the spotlight. Neither of them realizes that their glory days are long in the past, and no one but themselves cares.
Every time the Palin tape is edited, I picture her sitting back contentedly and taking another big gulp of her cocktail, to help fuel the next few excruciating minutes of her self-adulation. One by one, her listeners have been peeling off and quietly heading for the exits. Finally, someone will call her a cab so she can go home and sleep it off, dreaming dreams of Ozymandius.

Sarah, the reason the McCain staff didn't ask you questions about the economy is because the collapse didn't happen until two weeks later -- with TARP, etc. suddenly becoming an urgency at the end of September.
If you'd had substantive ideas about it, you should have brought up your premonitions then. As you recall, neither you nor McCain could say anything during the campaign about the economy, except questioning President Bush's emergency measures.

@1:32PM "Sarah, the reason the McCain staff didn't ask you questions about the economy is because the collapse didn't happen until two weeks later"
      ----
I didn't watch the tape, is she trying to insinuate that she could have saved the economy, but the staffers didn't ask?...HA HA HA

First, she got a D in college level econ class and she thinks she could save the world economy. McCain even said he didn't know what to do.

Second of all she is always flapping at the mouth without anyone asking her opinion, what was stopping her then?

That woman is a barrel of laughs, the gift that keeps on giving.

@1:21: The white dog who seems never to have been touched by SP before is still in her video (shortly after the 21:00 minute mark). Hilarious how quickly she puts him down after he keeps nipping her hands.

LMAO! She and her family stand prepared to help in whatever capacity..... what a nutcase. Street Sweepers needed, grab a broom a do what comes naturally, Team Palin.

What a babbling fool. She "Ad libbed" the "Hockey mom/ lipstick pig" line herself because the teleprompters weren't loading correctly.

Notice it's never "When Trig was born" it's always "When Trig ARRIVED". Yeah, she never watches herself speak on tee vee, bullshit, she rents movie theaters living in the past.

  3. Benton has previously said that he would "hold his nose" and work for McConnell to help Rand Paul's run for the presidency. These vultures are really vicious, particularly toward one another.

Benton is married to a granddaughter of Ron Paul's. Poor Mitch and he looks so happy with that strong young man's arm around him. Remember, Mitch broke down crying when one of his young aides left to take a job a few blocks away from his office. I wonder what exactly was the type of "aid" the young man gave?? Mitch was discharged from the service after only 3 weeks, for an "incident in the showers" Someone must have bent over to pick up the soap!

Doesn't impress me that he's gone; we know that McConnell hired him with full knowledge of his past skullduggery, if not because of it. Crooks, both. They just don't want us to see it and they're pretty sure that if they get it out of sight we'll be too dull to see through them. Never in my memory (which is both old and good) have there been so many politicians who assumed the voters to be just plain stupid.

"...have there been so many politicians..."

Go over to C4P and read a thread, any thread. The stupidity is profound there. Even politicians are stunned at how willing and eager voters want to be duped.

    2. I completely agree with the stupidity, ignorance, and hypocrisy that comes from the far right evangelicals at C4P. Reading the post at C4P just demonstrates how gullible Palin's fans are, and helps to explain why they are so willing to donate to Sarah PAC and why they're unable to see the fraud Palin truly is.

It may also say something about the mentality of the type of people who strongly and literally believe in what the Bible says. Is it an indication these people are just simple minded and have problems of thinking logically. It seems they're unable to understand complicated matters and prefer to see things that are simple to understand and spelled out for them.

It also seems to be the same type of thought processes that Palin herself uses. So they're just alike her in many ways which is also another reason why they can so closely relate to her.

McConnell gives me the absolute creeps. He's been horrible in the U.S. Congress - he led the obstruction against President Obama and does NOT deserve being reelected again in Kentucky.

Plus, he has already stated he'd shut the government down AGAIN if he IS reelected.

Just the type asshole we need in Congress! Pay attention Kentuckians and vote the guy OUT!

Gryph - thanks for running this. It's going to blow up big on Tuesday. Maddow will make sure of it. They dumped it on a Friday night of a holiday weekend, but it's not going to die. McConnell is connected to a briber. And the Pauls could be going down, too. It's a big shake-up. The Beltway is trying to downplay it but if you read Kentucky.com, you can see they are all fired up. Allison L. Grimes just got a big gift. She deserves it. #DitchMitch
