No Michael Brown did NOT fracture police officer Darren Wilson's eye socket during tussle. Update!

Yesterday the Washington Post reported the following:

The signs of easing tensions came as a family friend of the officer who fatally shot Brown came forward to offer a version of the incident with new details, saying that the officer suffered a fracture to his eye socket in a scuffle with the unarmed teenager before opening fire.

Hospital X-rays of the injury have been taken and will be shared with a grand jury that is weighing evidence to determine whether Officer Darren Wilson should be charged in the shooting, said the friend, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because of fear of threats. The friend has been in contact with Wilson’s family members.

Of course this resulted in all kinds of "We told you so's" from the Right Wing and Fox News ran with it as a sign that the police officer was in fear for his life from the six foot four teenager.

Only problem with that is that it is not true.

Well that's interesting.

Equally interesting is the statement made by a new witness who more or less corroborates much of what Brown's friend, Michael Johnson, told reporters.

Here is what I thought was the most interesting portion:

CC (Reporter Courtney Collins.): he did not fire at that time?

Brady: no he fired, he fired

CC: ok see that's important, that's important

Brady: he definitely fired, he definitely fired

CC: so mike brown is running away, the officer is out of the car, the weapon is drawn, and you see him hear and fire at mike brown while he is running away?

Brady: yes

CC: absolutely?

Brady: absolutely

CC: so he is hit and he's now facing the officer

Brady: facing the officer

CC: What is the position of the officer?

Brady: the officer - he's still got his gun drawn -

CC: gun is drawn

Brady: and he's at a distance - still about 15-20 feet away

CC: so mike brown is hunched over

Brady: he's hunched over like this, like he was already shot when I come outside, so now he's facing the officer, I remember him taking like 2 small steps - like he was going down anyway, he didn't look like he was going to give up, it looked like he was already hurt.

CC: what's the loaded word? The loaded word is charged. Does the word charged fit was mike brown was doing?

Brady: charged, no... like want to charge toward the officer?

CC: yes

Brady: no, no, no, there's no way

CC: there's no way?

Brady: there's no way, there's no way // he was already like this - and the officer took like 3 - 4 shots at him and that's when he went down just like he -

CC: so as he's going in the motion that you're describing, you do see and hear the officer fire again?

Brady: yes, yes - before he went down

CC: You're sure?

Brady: yes

The witness also said that he heard no shots fired while Brown and Wilson were tussling in the patrol car, and that Wilson did not demand that Brown stop before firing his weapon, which as stated above he fired at the retreating back of Michale Brown.

To be fair the Ferguson police claim to have a "dozen witnesses" that back up the officer's statement about the shooting, but oddly I have not seen any of them come forward to be interviewed by reporters.

Update: Keep in mind that the only autopsy made public thus far found that there was NO evidence to support the accusation that Michael Brown struck Officer Wilson during the altercation.

Update 2: The long lost incident report has also been released today.

Here is a rather comprehensive explanation for what you are seeing from the Daily Kos.

Do you use the 'jump to conclusions mat' with regards to your statement that the color of the kids skin convicted him. Grow up. There has been no evidence of racism by the cop that shot Michael Brown. There really has not been much actual real information released at all in this investigation yet.

Ignorant racist black people. Should Michael brown have been shot. Maybe once if he was hurting the officer. But I don't believe he should have been shot repeatedly. Cops are gun happy and are killing all races and genders left and right. Including dogs. Time to pull together and realize this.

"RM: So you seem to hate everyone equally?

TJ: Yes, I wouldn’t consider myself a racist. I know black people are no different than white people, but I can’t have my officers thinking that. I need their racism to overpower any empathetic sentiment they might harbor under that four hundred dollar helmet of theirs. The system works better if they see neighborhoods as war zones and protesters as the enemy. We have some good officers too we can trot out once in a while, but since we push blue brotherhood so fiercely, they’re not really going to stand up to the system."

Just to be clear. The picture in this post shows an officer standing near Mike Brown's body, but it is a different officer that shot Mike. There are pictures taken by people in the Canfield Apts. that DO show Officer Darren Wilson standing near the body. Wilson has his gun in his hand. There is no yellow police tape up.

Here's another DKOS post about the "eye socket". If this is all true then whoops for all the media that believed this nonsense. " The short of it? A right-wing blogger used a generic CT scan found online and claimed it was a scan of Darren Wilson. And how clumsy was this lie? Well, he first posted this:"

I thought this story of this injury was bogus from the beginning because people were using the wrong terminology. When I was in high school I was in an accident and broke the bone right below my left eye. The bones that circle the top and bottom of the eye are called eye orbital bones. There is nothing called the eye socket bone. And it's impossible to suffer "a rupture of the eye socket" because there is nothing to rupture. It's bone. I suppose you could rupture your eye but that isn't what people were saying. It was BS from the start.

2 of the 3 autopsies confirm he was shot in the back once and had at least 5 more shots pumped into him. There were 11 entry and exit wounds in all.

What disgusts me the most is the fact that the boy's body was left lying in the road, uncovered, for HOURS like he was trash.

The shot pattern makes perfect sense if his arms were raised. I believe he was shot in the back first, and then turned around clutching his gut where blood was spilling out and he was going down as he was shot 5 more times.

The only other wounds on his body were facial road rash abrasions from when he hit the ground.

friggin' KKKop. He better not ever be employed again with the police force.

They could cover the body but that would contaminate the crime scene.

They could erect the portable screens to block the view of the body, but that would reduce the deterrent effect the militarized occupation police force probably thinks they get from the bystanders viewing the body.

      You are full of crap.

The autopsies showed all bullet wounds to be front entry. None, zero, zilch in the back.

There are/were also no wounds to the gut. You are a flat out liar.

. Brown was "balled up" with his arms under his stomach and he was "halfway down" to the ground. As he was falling, Brown took one or two steps toward Wilson because he was presumably hit and was stumbling forward; Wilson then shot him three or four times. Brady said that the pictures he took of Brown with his arms tucked in under his body is the position he was in as he was shot three or four more times by Wilson before hitting the ground.[55]

Shawn L. Parcells, who assisted Baden on the autopsy, said that the wounds to the right arm were consistent with Brown either having his back to the officer, facing the officer with his hands above his head, or in a defensive position.

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shooting_of_Michael_Brown

Also - Dr. Baden said that while Mr. Brown was shot at least six times, only three bullets were recovered from his body. One exit wound was just above his right nipple. Dr. Baden provided a diagram of the entry wounds, and noted that the six shots produced numerous wounds. Some of the bullets entered and exited several times, including one that left at least five different wounds.

That is a bullshit line, who knows if it was an errant sentence that passed by the editors or an intentional misrepresentation.

A link within the article you referenced goes to another 'thewire' writeup that states:

"An autopsy report conducted at the request of Michael Brown's family shows that he was shot six times — four in the right arm and twice in the head — with all shots coming from the front of his body." first paragraph.

      http://www.thewire.com/national/2014/08/autopsy-report-says-michael-brown-shot-twice-in-the-head/378663/

You could also review look at the autopsy diagram to recognize there are no wounds to the backside. Side note, Parcells' ethics and even lack of license have come under great scrutiny by actual forensic scientists.

Why anyone watches any of the national cable news shows is beyond my comprehension. None of the anchors does anything more than look good in front of the camera and to read whatever is put in front of them. When they start making up stories to fit their narrative, there should be some accountability. Freedom of speech should not be the freedom to lie.

      http://criminal.findlaw.com/criminal-charges/homicide-definition.html

      Homicide Definition:
To begin with, not all homicides are crimes. Homicides include all killings of humans. Many homicides, such as murder and manslaughter, violate criminal laws. Others, such as a killing committed in justified self-defense, are not criminal. Illegal killings range from manslaughter to murder, with multiple degrees of each representing the gravity of the crime.

      http://legal-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com/homicide

      Homicide:
The killing of one human being by another human being. Although the term homicide is sometimes used synonymously with murder, homicide is broader in scope than murder. Murder is a form of criminal homicide; other forms of homicide might not constitute criminal acts. These homicides are regarded as justified or excusable.

Ruth Bader Ginsburg Skewers High Court For Forsaking Fight Against 'Real Racial Problem'

Although the U.S. Supreme Court was "once a leader in the world" in the battle for racial equality, recent decisions by the high court undermine its role in solving a "real racial problem" in America, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg explained in an interview with The National Law Journal on Wednesday.

Citing recent events in Ferguson, Missouri, and racially biased stop-and-frisk policies, Ginsburg reflected on the perpetuation of racial segregation in America, comparing the challenges with those of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.

The story that's showing up on Facebook, shared time and again by the RW racists that I personally know, is that Wilson had an "orbital blowout". Really sounds serious doesn't it? And that he was badly beaten by Mike Brown. But Wilson's neighbors say that he was mowing the lawn on Tuesday but didn't finish, left it halfway unmowed because "he got spooked and left town".

My step-son had the bones around one eye broken. He was immediately transported to a large hospital in Houston, immediately had surgery and then had to have two more surgeries. His eye was never the same, the eye itself looks off to the side and doesn't move. Based on his experience, I know for a fact that he was in no shape to "mow the lawn" three days after his injury and that first surgery. In fact, he was in the hospital for 4 or 5 days, missed work for 3 weeks. He didn't call his injury an "orbital blowout" but simply said the bones around the eye were all broken.

"Orbital blowout" is worth tremendous right wing rage. I just heard that the Support Darren Wilson fund had raised $234,000 as of today. There's also two other funds plus a KKK fund. Kill a kid, collect cash.

Darren Wilson's live-in girlfriend is also a Ferguson cop. According to their neighbors, she left the house when Wilson but who knows if she's in hiding with him. I haven't heard what her name is but I wonder if she's the anonymous source who's "close to the investigation" or "a reliable source in the Ferguson Police Dept".

Dumbest Man on the Internet Forgets to Delete the Original Unedited Version of the Image He Doctored

Following up once again on our posts about Jim Hoft and his now-debunked “report” (I’m using quotes because calling anything Hoft does a “report” is a wild exaggeration) that officer Darren Wilson suffered an “orbital blowout fracture of the eye socket,” we showed yesterday that Hoft or someone at his site had deceptively blacked out the words “UNIV OF IOWA” in the example CT scan they posted, presumably to trick people into thinking it was a scan of Darren Wilson. (In truth, it was a stock image Hoft lifted from a medical site.)

And the trick worked, by the way; right wingers all over Twitter, Facebook and blogs reposted the image as “Darren Wilson’s X-ray.” This bogus claim made it all the way up the wingnut ladder to Ann Coulter’s latest column, in fact.

But hilariously, when Hoft edited the image to erase those words, he simply left the original unedited version on his server without deleting it, and replaced it in the post with the doctored one. How do I know this? Because the unedited image is still right there on Hoft’s web server where he left it:

    Image: orbital-blowout.jpg

If you hover over that link, you’ll see that it goes to the Gateway Pundit /uploads/ folder, and has the filename “orbital-blowout.jpg”. (Click the link to see the image.)

The doctored version of the image is here:

    Image: cranial-.jpg

And this one has the filename “cranial-.jpg”.

Just in case Hoft now tries to delete the unedited image, I saved a copy of the page at webcitation.org, where you can see that it really was at that address:
