Obama downplayed Moscow's role in the world, dismissing President Vladimir Putin as a leader causing short-term trouble for political gain that will hurt Russia in the long term.
"I do think it's important to keep perspective. Russia doesn't make anything," Obama said in the interview.
"Immigrants aren't rushing to Moscow in search of opportunity. The life expectancy of the Russian male is around 60 years old. The population is shrinking," he said.
Ouch! That has to sting.
However the President is not wrong, and it's not like Putin is not responsible for a few slings and arrows of his own.

Russian deputy prime minister Dmitry Rogozin tweeted a shot of Russian President Putin petting a leopard, next to a posed portrait of Obama with a poodle. “We have different values and allies,” the caption said.
Yeah, let's see how long Russia lasts without the support of America.
OT the sequel to "My Parents Open Carry"

Putin knows how to manipulate a certain segment of humanity. He projects the same type of 'macho' juvenile behavior the RW in this country love. He is skilled at herding the dumbest. He is an intelligent sociopath. Palin, who also influences the most limited, is a dumb sociopath. See the difference? Ridiculing Putin in Russia is a very bad idea. Here, ridiculing Palin is a whole lot of fun ... and it's getting funner.
ReplyDeleteYeah, let's see how long Russia lasts without the support of America.
ReplyDeleteEven by the low standards of what passes for political commentary of this blog, this post reaches a new low.
No comment on the fact that the BRIC countries have set up their own Development Bank which will challenge the US's hegemony or that concrete steps are being made to replace the US dollar as the world's reserve currency. No mention of India standing up to fierce pressure from the US at the WTO and vetoing the deal that would have allowed US multinationals to control their food security.
The truth is that US power is being challenged and openly defied and there's nothing that Obama can do about it Only the "Five Eyes" and the EU bend to the US, the other countries are choosing another way.
So while you and the US media personalise the issues as that of Obama v Putin you will soon have to face the reality that no one fears the US anymore.
Cor, that's such a shame. You started off so well, seriously. Then you veered into the ditch we call self-importance, so sad.
DeleteRussia has oil and gas (commodities which are finite). It has no manufacturing that other countries want. Its oligarchs keep their fortunes in London instead of Moscow. No one wants to immigrate TO Russia, but thousands want to get out. Russia is actually a minor player in BRIC, which is why North America pays far more attention to China, Brazil and India. and the US is STILL 9and by far) the richest country in the world and yes, the rest of the world knows that.
DeleteThe last one to threaten the USD was Saddam .... uh what was his name again?

DeleteWhile you are spinning yourself silly with you faux glee, the US is stronger than ever under President Obama.
You snowden-like assholes sit in your comfy chair and throw bullshit at US progression, (as slow as it is under the party of stupid that is.) Do you ever stay on topic? The shit you are rambling on about started wayyy back in 2009. BUY GOLD!
When russian starts to invade other countries like they did Ukraine then lets see who's the strongest.
Go back to claiming that innocently saying there are 57 states resulted in thousands murdered and thousands more displaced. A fucking war.
"He said 57 states hahahehehehoho." GTFOH
Anon 4:14, how did you not manage to throw in advocate judges, WHO, the UN and Obama is Gay into that word salad?
DeleteI'll vote for the clean man who isn't afraid to pose with a fluffy toy.
ReplyDeleteThat little white poodle has a few tricks up it's little fluffy leg than than that tired ol' spotted cat.
ReplyDeleteMeanest dog I've ever met was a white 10 pound poodle.
ReplyDeleteIt's obvious that the leopard is just as tamed as a poodle. he's a russian clown, just like snowden.
ReplyDeleteputin has a lot in common with the insufferable witch, for one, they both think they are some kind of superhero. They think holding up a pic stopping a train is reality, when in fact they are just standing in front of a parked train, with their hands extended.
Interesting article in this week's New Yorker magazine about Putin and Russia, written by David Remnick. You can find it on-line.
ReplyDeleteHow 'bout you americans keep the fuck out of things that do not concern you? Like Ukraine and Palestine?
ReplyDeleteIt takes a real man to pet a poodle with so much finesse. I hate to disagree with President Obama, but Russia does produce stuff. I saw a jar of borst and pickled cabbage (I think, the label had strange letters on it) in my local market right next to Goya beans and Adobo. There was a layer of good old American dust on the Russian stuff.
