Fake abortion clinics that manipulate women seeking help.

Courtesy of Vice News:

Women across America who are seeking abortions are accidentally booking appointments at crisis pregnancy centers—pro-life, government-funded religious centers that don't provide abortions, but instead try to talk women out of terminating their pregnancies.

VICE News investigated the misleading practices used by crisis pregnancy centers to draw in women with unplanned pregnancies, and the misinformation that is spread to discourage them from pursuing abortions.

Shut down legitimate clinics, and then use the now empty space to open a religiously based fake clinic, who provide misinformation and shame to force women to carry an unwanted pregnancy to term.

Sounds like just about every other tactic used by the religious right.

The sleazy ethics of the Kristian right isn't news, but Government Funded fake abortion clinics is. Is this crap being funded through that White House Office of Faith-Based Initiatives that Bush put together (and that Obama failed to dismantle)?

The federal funding is worse and more deceptive in that it's been part of Title V federal block grants to states for the purpose of improving maternal and child health. The ACA has block grants, too, that states are directing to the fake centers. And then there's also federal funding for abstinence education.

The very wonderful Rep. Henry Waxman did a study almost a decade ago that showed the centers were misinformation and deception programs and has been trying to stop federal funding ever since. Sadly, he's retiring after this year.

We should contact leg. This is outrageous they are getting federal funding for this crap! Didn't they cut funding for abortion clinics? They shouldn't have funding period b/c they don't do ANYTHING! Planned parenthood helps PLAN FAMILYS, BC and many other things besides abortions.
I am damn sick of these christian bastards and their beliefs and trying to ram it down OUR throats!

The fact that they lie and manipulate tells me all I need to know about how these christians look at other people. Don't they actually believe that if god wanted someone to be born, he would make it so?

    "government-funded religious centers"

Time for an investigation or protest- I don't want my tax money going to some religious group. They don't pay taxes, let them fund this crap with their money.

Religious groups should NOT have tax exempt status anywhere in the country! They use and abuse having it which is proven time and time again.

No wonder Americans are becoming less and less Christian! I know I'm not one and would never want to be!

    Duping. Purposeful and God-sanctioned duping.

    at 10:34:

"Well, if you were misled, all I can do is apologize for that. Okay?
And again, I apologize if you were duped but we have to fight for each other. That’s what God wanted us to do…is..we’re all supposed to help each other.”

They 'dupe' you to get you in to the center and they they use misinformation and scare tactics.

All women need to do is research the clinic they plan to use as well as the doctor that will perform the abortion. It's easily done and will make the process less stressful!

Screw the religious nuts! Do your homework ladies!

Why are the free fake fetuses ALWAYS Caucasian? We have one of these places near us called "Birthright", it's run by a church (tax exempt), directly next to a Planned Parenthood, and what galls me is no one answers "What happens to these babies women were shamed/lied to and preached into keeping?" Are they put up for adoption? Sold on the blackmarket? What happens to the infants?
And applying false science in order to sway emotions during a life changing decision should be a sin.
I walked that gauntlet of jackasses while escorting a friend to have an abortion, one of the jackasses took my license plate number and reported me to the cardinal, who promptly reported me to the pope, who promptly formally excommunicated me.
Yeah, the peodophile priests kept playing nude twister, and women get booted for supporting a friend.

This needs to go viral, it's not only disgusting but it's a misappropriation of tax dollars.
