Alaska Dispatch sues Governor Parnell to force release of records concerning National Guard scandal.

Courtesy of Alaska Dispatch:

Alaska Dispatch News sued Gov. Sean Parnell on Wednesday, asking a judge to force the governor’s office to release public records related to the ongoing scandal within the Alaska National Guard.

The news organization, along with its co-plaintiff Alaska Public Media, claims the governor’s office has been wrongly denying public records requests that could help voters verify whether Parnell acted swiftly in dealing with numerous allegations about mishandled sexual assaults, harassment, fraud, favoritism and other misconduct, including abuse of power, within the guard over the past several years.

The two media outlets made the decision to sue after public records requests by their reporters were met with long delays and ultimately rejected by Randal Ruaro, the policy director and special counsel in the governor’s office, in broad-sweeping denial letters.

ADN and Alaska Public Media are asking a judge for an expedited hearing on the matter, given the Nov. 4 election is less than a month away.

Well good for them!

I am glad that some Alaska news agencies are finally standing up to politicians and doing their jobs.

I think we all have a feeling that Parnell is covering something up and if the Dispatch is successful here it may have a significant impact on not only the Governor's race this November, but other elections in the state as well.

The Alaska Dispatch is not alone in wanting to know more about the National Guard scandal. In fact the Anchorage Press, which has a much smaller operating budget was able to dig up some interesting dirt on the Deputy Chief of Staff, pornographic websites, and ties to the Iron Dog.  (Did I just hear Todd Palin shift uncomfortably in his chair?)

Now see this is why bloggers sometimes get frustrated. We simply do not have the resources to sue administrations and powerful organizations for documentation, or spend hours a day following leads, and therefore can only rely on our networking abilities and reputations to help persuade sources to disclose important information to us.

But damn, if I had deep pockets and an attorney on retainer? Whoa Nelly!

That Anchorage Press article is something else! "Lawendowski co-founded the Berean Watchmen, a fundamentalist Christian group “dedicated to the study and teaching of the events surrounding the end times.”

Iron Dog, Pornography, and End Times....that has Palin written all over it! You just know Todd and Lawendowski are buddies. ;)

Holy crap. I read the Anchorage Press article and my jaw hit the ground. I am retired Army and I am outraged and embarrassed by what I am reading not just in this article but in the whole damned affair. Parnell needs to be gone, period. Ignorance is not an excuse although I am certain he knew what the hell was going on. The ADN should file an open records request with the DOD for the 15-6 results. I believe they can. You can bet if this was a Democratic Governor, Judicial Watch would be all over it. Does Parnell have daughters? If so, someone should ask him the question of if he would have been comfortable having them serve in the Guard while he was in command of it.

Parnell is the worst gov (along w/Palin - she did us a favor quitting!) Alaska has had. He looks and acts corrupt! Don Young was so correct in providing him the nickname of 'Captain Zero'.

I've already voted absentee and did NOT cast my vote for Parnell - never have and never will! Plus, he has covered up for the Palins and stopped the public from receiving documentation concerning them that has been requested.

When I click on the highlighted text(which is a hyperlink) for Anchorage Press, it takes me to a page that says 'page not found'. Somehow, I don't think I can chalk that up to a user error, but perhaps part of the link address didn't find its way into the address text box for adding a link to blog text OR the page has been removed by the Anchorage Press.

    From that Anchorage Press article:
"[Brigadier Gen. Catherine] Jorgensen was fired last week by the acting commander of the Alaska National Guard, Brigadier Gen. Mike Bridges, but then rehired a day later at the insistence of Governor Sean Parnell."

Jorgensen is supposedly up to her eyeballs in the corruption and abuse scandal. This will get interesting if the press is relentless in forcing all the information to be made public. I hope this gets national attention.

Parnell and Todd Palin were the ones really running the Gov's office on behalf of the CBC puppet masters. That's why she never officially gave over daily operations to Parnell when she was campaigning - she didn't have too - he was already doing the job.

I wish I was a cartoonist - picture Parnell in the Gov's office with stacks of papers all around, overflowing out of file cabinets and drawers. A high powered fan labeled "FOIA" is blowing everything into the air as Parnell desperately tries to keep them under control.

Yep. Seems like its getting harder and harder to keep certain info under wraps. Keep on prying ADN/Dispatch, Anch. Press. Keep it up.

Bad, bad stuff has been or is being tolerated in the Alaska National Guard -- drug trafficking, sexual assault, sexual harassment. Wonder what a low level Guardsman would have to do to be kicked out of that same Alaska National Guard?? If so much is tolerated then how bad does an individual's actions have to be to get kicked out?

Somebody should ask "Cain't Get Right" Track Palin.

Interesting timing for the "brawl report"! Better to fess up being a redneck hillbilly than have folks investigating shadow governor Todd's involvement with the AK National Guard scandal.

Knew it! Thanks for finding that. This police report of the brawl is funny and damning but I still think if someone gets to the bottom of this Guard scandal Todd will be involved....that. will. be. the. END.

Only way to ensure that is if Parnell is voted out of office. Come on AK!!! You can do it.

Tick, tock. Tick, tock. Gotta turn over every single rock. Tick, tock. Tick, tock.

Big question I have had for a long time: are there children involved in this human trafficking ring? Because the odds would be that, yes, there are. And this ring plus perhaps other 'extra-curricular' activities would explain two things to me: how the Palins maintained their lavish lifestyle for so long including many years when their salaries would. not. have. permitted. such a high level of living; and, why they considered themselves to be so invulnerable over the years: because they had deliberately compromised people at every level of authority in Alaska.

Tweet it out, tweet it out, tweet it out, until there is national pressure to burst this enormous, but as-yet still underground, boil.
