"And that's how gay sex works. Buncha perverts." |
The Alaska Dispatch News reported that students and staff at Wasilla High School said U.S. Rep. Don Young (R-AK) "acted in a disrespectful and sometimes offensive manner to some students, used profanity and started talking about bull sex when confronted with a question about same-sex marriage" during his 60-minute appearance.
When one student asked Young why he thought same-sex marriage was so bad, the congressman responded: “You can’t have marriage with two men. What do you get with two bulls?” according to Wasilla Principal Amy Spargo. (Apparently Young answered "bullshit" to that last question.)
Witnesses told the Dispatch News that Young's comments on suicide also stunned the assembly, as students and staff were mourning the loss of a Wasilla student who took his own life last week. Young mentioned alcohol and depression and said that suicide shows a lack of support from friends and family, according to the witnesses.
"When I heard 'a lack of support from family' and I heard 'a lack of support from friends,' I felt the oxygen go out of the room, but I gasped as well," Spargo told the newspaper. "It just isn't true in these situations. It's just such a hurtful thing to say."
Apparently Young's office realized that the fossil had once again made a giant fool of himself so they issued a half assed apology:
“Congressman Young was very serious and forthright when discussing the issue of suicide, in part because of the high number of tragedies that affect Alaskan youth. He discussed what he believes are leading causes of youth suicide in our state and shared some suggestions for helping family members and friends who are dealing with suicidal thoughts,” spokesman Matt Shuckerow wrote in an email. “In no way did Congressman Young mean to upset anyone with his well-intentioned message. In light of the tragic events affecting the Wasilla High School community, he should have taken a much more sensitive approach.”
According to the Dispatch Young also said that one of the students who challenged him in the discussion needed "to learn some respect."
I imagine that when that young man is in the presence of somebody deserving respect he will do just that.
When a young person sees an asshole like Don Young representing their State, they probably feel like dealing with life is not even worth it. I'm sure the clown car of candidates regularly rolled out by the gop each election cycle doesn't help matters any.
ReplyDeleteI hope it encourages them to vote this ass out.
DeleteUn-fucking-believable that anyone considers that ignorant fool worth their vote.
ReplyDeleteWhat a colossal DICK! It never ceases to amaze me how so many so called "straigt" men are so interested in what gays do. It's nonya business.
ReplyDeleteWhen will Alaska get rid of this embarrassing, petrified, old, turd? Congress critters should be kicked out at age 65, no ifs, ands, or buts.
ReplyDeleteWent and did my early voting thing this morning. It felt fabulous to fill in the circles next to Begich, Dunbar and Walker. And hey - I'm not a Democrat either!
ReplyDeleteLet's hope the Koch bros, Karl Rove and Diebold don't decide this election for Alaska.
By the way, Alaskans - you can do more than just vote to make a difference. Give any of the campaigns a call and they'll happily put you to work calling folks to let them know where their polling places are. No doubt the Rethugs are hoping some of their gerrymandering redistricting rope-a-dope will cause voters to go to the 'wrong' precinct.
Getting out the vote is essential. It is the only way to overwhelm the crap that the corrupt have stacked up to subvert our right to choose.
12:33 PM I've already voted too - absentee - and, was delighted to cast my vote for Senator Begich and the Unity Team!
DeleteThe Republicans keep putting out their polls showing them ahead - in Alaska and nationwide. But, remember - they did the same thing w/Romney and he lost by a large margin to President Obama. Karl Rove could hardly believe it!
Their Republican polls were wrong!
Screw Republicans nationwide!
I voted for Dunbar and the Unity ticket. Sadly, I didn't have an opinion on the Senate race, too ugly for my taste so left that blank. But I truly hope that the other two tickets I voted for can win!
DeleteYoung's the prevailing view in Alaska. He'll get another term.
ReplyDeleteHe should be hung from the rafters in Washington D.C. What an asshole! Don't forget he admitted he killed someone!! Loud and clearly!
ReplyDeleteHe's mentally off, white, old, nasty, corrupt (re: the investigation!), a Republican and not effective in D.C. even though Lisa Murkowski endorsed him and says otherwise! She will be the next to go when she comes up for reelection!
Alaska needs young folks with new ideas representing them and not the rich, entrenched and egotistical jerks!
What IS it with these Repub pols? They're all so slimy!
ReplyDeleteIf this idiot is re-elected, I have no hope for sane Alaskans. His comments this months should be shared all over Alaska so all voters understand that he truly is mentally deficient at this point in time and needs to be put out to pasture. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteDon Young's staff should know better than to let the guy run his mouth in front of people that don't owe him anything. Don Young lives in a little bubble where he can safely be as revolting as he pleases.
ReplyDeleteYoung and his self-justifying bullshit of a non-apology are unacceptable. I hope AKns reject him.
ReplyDeleteWell, I won't win any fans in Alaska for saying this, but down here in the lower 48 we're well acquainted with the lunatic antics of Young, and Palin, and between the two of them they're making the rest of you look like fools for electing them.
ReplyDeleteSomeone vile enough to add to the pain of this community by blaming family and friends for a young person's suicide doesn't deserve any respect from anyone.
ReplyDeleteHe's a disgusting, volatile, bitter old man and should be run out of Congress.
Interesting to note that there is not one mention of this on his
ReplyDeleteFacebook page. Either they are scrubbing overtime or no one is visiting his page...
You know what? After hearing Tripp crying hysterically on the audio tape of the brawl, and listening to about 30 minutes of Palin-speak on that tape, I think it's time for Levi to have a talk with himself, bite the bullet, and just come out and tell all he knows about everything Palin, including the parentage of Tripp and Trig and anything else that will stop this family in its tracks. I am sure that he and his family have been so threatened by Palins that they have been afraid to come forward, but Tripp is being damaged and poor Trig, whosever child he actually is, is another victim that is going to suffer for life without the support he needs. I don't care a whit about Sarah and Todd. I feel sorry for Track that he never got to have a real relationship his father, if he IS Curt Menard's son. He and the girls are total messes. It's just all too bad, but if someone doesn't come forth and expose the whole charade (and the crimes, if any) it's just going to perpetuate itself into another generation. Does anyone remember when Levi had that relationship with Kathy Griffith and somewhere along the line he shared something with her, and her response to him was to "put it in your back pocket." I always wondered if he hadn't spilled some critical beans to her. Maybe it's time for Levi to dig into his back pocket.
ReplyDeleteWhat was it DF Young said before to high school students up in Fairbanks? That Wasilla school should have known better than to allow him to speak to their students
ReplyDeleteMy carpet cleaner is sure that Don Young is in the early stages of dementia. I think that I'd have to agree with him.
ReplyDeleteDoes he mean before or after he kills them? I'm no expert, but those stumpy fingers don't quite look "bullish" enough. Perhaps he can use a banana or baseball bat?
ReplyDeleteThe asshole was interviewed on TV tonight (news) and he is defiant! Said he would not change the way he is and if he doesn't get the votes, he doesn't get them!
ReplyDeleteHe truly needs to go. We need new blood that will work with the folks that put them in D.C. Don Young is way past due to go bye, bye!
Today the New York Times has a short (one or two paragraphs) piece on the "irascible" Don Young and his confrontation with high school students. No substance, not even a passing glance at the meanness and lack of compassion or understanding in his remarks to the students. Only a joke for the New York Times and, of course, a mention that Alaskans all hate President Obama. This country needs a media that will take these matters seriously and that will demand that politicians treat their constituents with respect. Alaskans, vote him out of office. Do your country a service.
ReplyDeleteBeaglemom
I vote "anyone but Don" every 2yrs... Still waiting for the rest of the state to figure out he's more of an embarrassment than a help for Alaska
