If we impeach Presidents for using executive privilege to alter immigration laws, then how did these avoid a similar fate?

Courtesy of Pensito Review:

Pres. Dwight Eisenhower:

1956

By executive order, circumvented immigration quotas to allow 900 orphans to join their adoptive families in the U.S.

1956-1958

By executive order, allowed 31,000 Hungarian anti-Soviet insurgents to emigrate.

1959-72

By executive order, allowed 600,000 Cubans fleeing Castro to emigrate.

Pres. Gerald Ford:

1975

By executive order, allowed 360,000 refugees, mostly from from Vietnam, to emigrate.

1976

By executive order, allowed 14,000 Lebanese nationals to emigrate.

Pres. Ronald Reagan:

1981

By executive order, allowed 7,000 Polish anti-Communists to emigrate.

1982

Allowed 15,000-plus Ethiopians to emigrate.

1987

By executive order, rescinded deportation of 200,000 Nicaraguans.

1987

By executive order, deferred deportation of undocumented children of 100,000 families.

George H.W. Bush:

1989

By executive order, deferred deportations of Chinese students.

1989

By executive order, reversed visa denials of 7,000 Soviets, Indochinese.

1990

By executive order, deferred deporations of previously amnestied citizens’ 1.5 million spouses and children.

1991

By executive order, deferred deportation of 2,000 Gulf War evacuees.

1992

By executive order, deferred deportations of 190,000 El Salvadorans.

George W. Bush:

2002

By executive order, expedited naturalization for green-card holders who joined military.

2005

By executive order, deferred deportation of students affected by Hurricane Katrina.

2006

By executive order, enabled 1,500 Cuban physicians to seek asylum at US embassies.

2007

By executive order, deferred deportation of 3,600 Liberians.

Strange but I remember hearing nothing about impeachment, or the threat of impeachment, concerning any of these "amnesties."

Is it just the fact that they are Republicans that protects from conservative anger at their "shredding of the Constitution?"  Or is there another differnce that I just can't quite put my finger on right now that sets President Barack Obama apart from his predecessors?

Darn. I thought it was that none of them had curly hair.

Or that they were lined up in order of looks - the doofiest being on the Far Right. (Ooh, I made an unintentional funny there!)

They also had giant letter Rs next to their names.

    THAT made it all okay.

What I find interesting is the fact that the news media covers none of this! MSNBC, CNN, FOX, etc. President Obama is not the FIRST and only POTUS to do this. I've even sent off notes to the networks concerning this and of course, they are ignoring it.

Guess they think they can get higher ratings by not disclosing the truth about President Obama. I so hope he nails their asses - media and the Republicans - and vetoes the pipeline coming out of Canada as well as does his own thing regarding immigration. Can hardly wait for his announcements!

Americans (majority) are behind him and support his efforts in spite of being obstructed every step of the way by Republicans in the U.S. Congress!

I believe that Rachel Maddow has attempted to tell the truth on her channel but the problem is all of these reporters are muzzled by their networks and can only repeat talking points instead of trying to get to the truth. The only reliable source of news is that which you find yourself on the internet and on TV AlJazeera, what do they have to lose by telling the truth?

Unfortunately, the media is no longer motivated by journalistic integrity. They're motivated by the profits they can make for their corporate masters.

Controversies generate ratings, which generate profits.

I think they should put up or shut up. Let them impeach the President (they cannot remove him because there are not 67 votes in the Senate). Let them shutdown the government. Let them try and pull their black mail on the debt limit. And once everyone sees what these Republicans are really about, it may lead to the shortest Republican majority House and Senate in history.

They are not interested in governing. They are not interested in compromise. They are not interested in acting in the best interests of our Country.

We need a Democratic wave in 2016 and we need every person who is eligible to vote to get their butts down to the polls and actually vote. No more excuses. We need every American to participate in our Democracy.

Democrats are breaking the law to get what they want. Republicans are using the powers given to them in the constitution, and no more, to keep Obama in check...exactly as the system was designed.

If they can ship them all home, then they think all the poor white will scamper to get their jobs and pay them the same wages and everyone will be happy. Immigration becomes a jobs bill! Two birds/one stone!

By executive order, allowed 31,000 Hungarian anti-Soviet insurgents to emigrate [from Hungary, presumably]
By executive order, allowed 600,000 Cubans fleeing Castro to emigrate [from Cuba, presumably]
[more allowed to leave Vietnam, Lebanon, etc...]

How did the presidents concerned persuade the leaders of those countries to let their people emigrate, that is, LEAVE?

The big deal nowadays, and probably back then too, is getting the powers that be in AMERICA to allow people to IMmigrate to, that is, ENTER, America.

If a fancy graphic, with pictures and all, is worth doing, it's worth stating correctly what the people actually DID.

I think it's the fact that President Obama married a smart, beautiful first lady whose restored dignity to the white house, especially after First Lady Laura Bush. She basically sat on a sofa for eight years w/ glossy eyes while trying not to LOL at the BS her husband kept repeating.

All of these were either designed to reward service, keep families together or allow for immigration of political/war refugees. They are normal uses of the power.

Obama's move allows anyone and everyone in, regardless of their criminal history, ability to provide for themselves, etc...no reason given. First the children arrive, then their adult family members will follow (as our sensibilities against 'splitting up families' will surely soon be manipulated). They are instantly released, will not return for their immigration hearing, and many will drain a welfare system designed for the benefit of legal US residents in need. Many others, with criminal records, will set up their illegal enterprise in these new, lucrative markets.

There is a border, there are rules, and there is a process in place that allows foreigners to call the US home. Unlike all other executive actions, Obama's ignores all of these, putting citizens in danger while straining their systems to the breaking point.
