Sean Parnell concedes!

So last night Captain Zero conceded the election to Bill Walker, making Walker Alaska's new Governor.

This from Parnell's Facebook page:

It has been an honor to serve as Governor of Alaska for more than five years. Sandy and I will always remain thankful and humble that we could work for you to create opportunities for every Alaskan. After Friday’s vote counting by the Division of Elections, it became clear that while a win for the Parnell-Sullivan ticket was numerically possible, it is highly improbable. Where Alaska’s swearing-in date this year for the governor-elect is December 1st and where some ballots still must be counted, I deemed it in Alaskans’ interest to begin coordinating transition activities now with the Walker-Mallott ticket in the event the vote count holds.

I met this morning with Bill Walker to pledge an orderly transition. In line with this pledge, I offered office space for transition activities to the Walker-Mallott ticket as well as resources to accomplish the transition. We had what I believe to be a very productive discussion about how to work together for the benefit of Alaskans in this time of change in administration.

It is my fervent hope that Alaska’s trajectory for economic growth and individual safety and opportunity will be maintained. From bringing the Alaska LNG Project further than ever before; to creating Alaska Performance Scholarships for our young people; to being on track for natural gas to Fairbanks by 2016; to a Cook Inlet gas and economic resurgence; to reforming Alaska’s oil tax system to bring more North Slope investment and job activity than we’ve seen in decades (and more state revenue at these lower oil prices); to resolving the Point Thomson dispute and gaining first production there by 2016; and to leading our state in fighting the epidemic of domestic violence, sexual abuse, and sex trafficking – we have achieved a great deal for our state.

We respect the will of the voters, and offer Bill Walker, Byron Mallott and their families our sincere congratulations. Again, I want to thank our citizens for the honor of a lifetime.

Yeah, yeah, blah, blah, don't let the door hit you on the ass on your way out.

I could NOT be happier to see this creepy little POS leave office, I only hope that Walker proves to be the Governor that Alaska needs right now and is not yet another socially conservative toady of the oil companies masquerading as a moderate in order to garner votes, who will now rip off his mask of reasonableness to reveal the slathering wolfish grin beneath.

(Well great now I have THAT image to get out of my head before bedtime.)

Good riddance Capt. Zero. I feel like I was just cured of a case of the clap.

    1. Well, he DID share office quarters with Sarah Palin once in awhile. So you never know.

Bye bye, captain zero, nobody's hero. Like Gryphen said...don't let the door hit ya where millions of years of evolution split ya.

    3. Anonymous @ 10:04, two pronged reason for my absence- one, I work in academia and this time of year is when every damn grad student who has an issue they should have brought to me weeks or months ago has a problem that has to be addressed RIGHT! NOW!!! and two, the throwdown at the hoedown coverage really bummed me out a lot. I couldn't believe the people Sarah constantly belittles, the "lame stream media" who protects her fake pregnancy secrets and does not call her out on her treasonous statements...actually didn't challenge her revisionist history, ass-covering version of the brawl. I cannot BELIEVE that Bristol attacked a man, unprovoked, and punched him squy in the face six or eight times- and Track started two fights simply because he was drunk and wanted to fight- yet despite all evidence to the contrary, media outlets accepted Sarah's false narrative about Bristol being "dragged across the lawn" and Track only stepping in to "defend his baby sisters". God, I could vomit just recounting it.

Anyway, those are the two main reasons why I've lain low for a week or two. But I always come back to my IM homies!

No matter who Palin endorsed, Parnell's loss is a serious reflection on her governorship as well -- she handed over the office to him when she quit to make money.
The voters have kicked him to the curb. Sarah's reputation took a hit as well.
Now Parnell can go off and make real money. The oil companies will be scrambling to give him a payback.

For the sake of the good people of Alaska, I hope he proves to be what he ran as but, in this day and age, pardon me if I'm a bit skeptical. Anyone that aligns themselves with Palin......

I haven't seen any evidence that he has sought to align himself with Palin so much as she has tried to align herself with him. Sort of like photo-bombing the prom court's photo shoot to make it appear you are part of the court and not just the class dweeb.

Jim Palin publicly endorsed him, Todd sat with the Walker people at a debate, and he posed, smiling, with the toxic couple.

He may not have looked to associate with him, but associated he is.

Here is Maine, LePage (R) won his race, but the House remained in the Democrats hands, so that is something.

But at least we know what we are getting with LePage. The man wears no masks; what you see is what you get. I hate it when I vote for someone who is not what he says he is. So I am hoping your new Governor is all that was advertised.

And I do have to give LePage kudos for shoring up the public pension system that had been raided (stolen essentially) 20 years previously by a Legislature who saw an easy way out of a big budget jam. In a matter of years and not decades, the public pension will again be 100% funded.

Alaska has a 8 billion dollar deficit in its pension fund and that is the least of Governor Elect Walker's problems. With oil prices taking a nose dive, there is not sufficient revenue to maintain current spending. And while Alaska has reserves it can use, it will only be a matter of a few years before the only reserve left is the Permanent Dividend Fund.

The Alaska Legislature and the new Governor might want to consider taxing marijuana. The taxes levied in Colorado have been a boom to that State. It's that or Alaska might have to go back to pre 1980 when the State had an income tax. Certainly that would not very popular.

  5. I just hope that Palin will have no influence in what he does. She may have endorsed him, but seeing how high Palin's unfavorable ratings are in Alaska, it could have hurt him more than helped him.

I would also like for him to release her e-mails without so much censoring from the first time. Since Palin's attorney had some say in the matter and that she had a governor who allowed her to have some influence in his administration, I have little doubt that at least some of what they censored was to protect Palin from political or personal embarrassment. There is probably other records from Palin's administration the public might not be aware of that should also be released.

    1. Palin has seemed so friendly with him, I fear the worst. Concerning her congrats poster that Gryphen joked was to rub his nose in their affiliation...I think it was actually a shot across the bow- a reminder that while Palin herself may be a political non entity, she has secrets that can make HIM one. I hope I'm wrong on this, but the wide dragnet of the Palins' stranglehold of secrets thus far gives me very, very little to hope for.

I said a WooHoo when I heard the news on the radio yesterday morning. As a fellow alumni of the same University as Mr. SP, a university with a huge global perspective, I have been appalled by the actions of Mr. SP. His beliefs as Governor in no way reflected the teachings and attitude of the university he attended. Glad to know that he's back in the private sector

What will this all mean? So many questions. So incredible that the right-wing didn't keep Parnell in power. The fact they didn't support him this time, could more be a vote against his association with Palin and her shadow pimp governor, Todd, and the disgusting AKNG scandal neglect.

Bet there are revelations from that Palin/Parnell administration that would knock the socks of people, if they were all exposed. He no longer has the power to keep a lid on it, and that Nizich fellow surely will be gone as well. Will all the other Palin hangers-on, aides and spokespeople be looking for jobs now?

I wonder if Palin was sucking up to Walker/Mallott, trying to get them to be 'good' to her old friends in her administration and keeping them employed, to keep their mouths shut.

Any of you who are commenting here and worried about "Palin power' cannot be from Alaska. Palin has NO POWER here. Nada. None. Zilch. She may have some silly little bedroom or backroom secrets that she holds against some people, but she holds absolutely no sway politically any more. She is a joke. She doesn't show her face except at drunken brawls and on her own turf. I believe she is afraid of the Alaska public, all of 'em, any of 'em. And moreover, she would not want to be offered a job in the Walker administration even if it were a possibility, because Sarah Palin does not like to go to work. Even as governor she was MIA half the time. She is lazy, uninformed, plain stupid, and getting nuttier by the day. And though I am as impatient as the rest of you, I believe her own secrets will be exposed in my lifetime, and I am pretty old. If I am wrong about anything i say here I will print out these words and eat them (or so I say.)

That being said, I agree, She's embarrassed the entire state but her sociopathy won't allow her to feel shame. Same with her and Todd's first child, her blog isn't written to meet her level of "Doh!", She just updated it and made a fool of herself, again.

Cronyism - Hiring Unqualified Friends for High-Paid Government Jobs

As both mayor and governor, Palin immediately fired lots of highly skilled, experienced staff and replaced them with "her people." What that means in practice is that Alaskan government now has tons of Wasilla residents, high school friends of Palin and members of her church in high positions, in $80,000 -$120,000 a year jobs, despite minimal or no qualifications.

For example, she named Franci Havemeister (a high school friend) as director of Alaska's Department of Agriculture at $95,000. Asked for her qualifications, the former real estate agent said that she loved cows as a kid.

Debbie Richter and her husband were long time friends of the Palins and owned a vacation house together. First Palin hired Debbie as her campaign treasurer, based on some bookkeeping jobs Richter had done. Once elected governor, she put Debbie in charge of the multi-billion program that send oil money rebate checks to every Alaskan resident. Soon after, the program had a famous disaster, where the computers crashed and no one had backed up key files. (I work in computers as my day job, and we discussed this at the time last year, when no one had heard of Sarah Palin.) They had to recreate hundreds of thousands of records by HAND, and no one really can be sure how accurate these massive payments were.

  15. Palin's top has seriously has got to be the ugliest top I've ever seen. I thought it was inappropriate for her to be dressed the way she is, but once I realized the top also covers part of her arms it hit me just how unsophisticated and tasteless Palin truly is when it comes to clothing. She really does reflect what you would expect to see white trailer trash wearing.
