A little shot of optimism from our favorite astronaut Chris Hadfield.

I love this guy.

And I appreciate hearing such hopeful talk from a man who has seen this planet from a perspective that few others will ever experience.

We are moving forward, getting better, and improving our lives.

There are many battles yet to wage, and adversaries yet to defeat, but what we have learned is that in the end those who are moving us forward leave those trying desperately to stop us dead or turn us back in the dust.

  1. It looked really interesting, but without captions I am not sure what point he was making or where he was coming from. I will have to look for a transcript. Was the video made by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation? I saw that on the screen.

That was great. I wonder if it will be shown during the Superbowl. It should be.

It's time that the GOP accept the fact that progress is something that keeps happening. It cannot be ignored, it cannot be defeated. And scientific facts cannot be ignored for too long simply because they are facts. The human mind wants to move forward so why not get on board, GOP, and help move this country forward. That's all that President Obama has been asking of you - since 2008.

Science and Innovation have helped us speed up cures for certain diseases and ailments, especially in the third world countries. In my lifetime I've seen the cure for polio, AIDS was made a treatable condition, and things like organ transplants, ivf, etc have been made possible, more effective, and cut down the healing time. One of my friend's sons works in Africa studying various maladies. One is some type of worm that makes it's way into the human bladder from unclean water to lay it's eggs, it's extremely painful. The cure? An old antibiotic and a month of low dose aspirin. Kids used to die from this, and no one knew the cause. There are things he tells us that make me realize how much we take for granted and what a threat fracking will be to the water cycle and our health.
