For those on Fox News trying to convince us that the idea of separation of church and state is a recent invention, yeah not so much.

As you can see there is no date on the comic to tell us when it was printed, however a quick Google search of the cartoonist Watson Heston tells us that he died in 1905.

So that should provide insight into how long this debate has been raging.

Especially considering the fact that it was not until 1870 that all of the states at that time even had public schools.

If we are to continue to provide our students with a well rounded education job one should be keeping religion as far away from our schools as humanly possible.

The next time some fundie Christian or Teaparty fanatic tries to tell you that God wrote the constitution, and that separation of church and State is a myth, quote them this statement from Saint Ronald Reagan:

    quote:

We in the United States, above all, must remember that lesson, for we were founded as a nation of openness to people of all beliefs.

And so we must remain. Our very unity has been strengthened by our pluralism. We establish no religion in this country, we command no worship, we mandate no belief, nor will we ever.

Church and state are, and must remain, separate.

All are free to believe or not believe, all are free to practice a faith or not, and those who believe are free, and should be free, to speak of and act on their belief.

There it is in black and white. If Ronald Reagan believed in separation of church and state, then it should be good enough for any so called "conservative"!

Unless of course you're an idiot like Palin, a fanatic theocrat like Ted Cruz, Franklin Graham, and most of 'Murica's preachers and pastors these days, or a violent, misogynistic thug like Ted Nugent

I don't foresee the theocrats, the evangelicals, or the Teabaggers ever giving up their mantra of "God wrote the constitution", but the rest of us must continue to speak out, blog, protest, and elect responsible humans to public office who realize we were founded as a secular Republic, and not a religious theocracy.

It boggles the mind. Here's a channel that shoves Christianity while purposely lying and dressing their female contributors up like tarts. Do they even READ their bible? Show me, FAUX, exactly what passage says you're forgiven as long as you're in the politics business.

Couldn't agree with you more. Add to these things: lying, sexual innuendo, hatred, deliberate stirring up of rebellion and incitement to violence, and then combine it all with the tawdriest selection of shows available on any non-X-rated network, and you have the Faux Network. Oh, forgot to add: also add, with everyone participating in all the above basking daily in their own self-righteousness. And the wonder why they are losing viewers left and right? Because the hypocrisy level is so high, you want to reach for a vomit bucket.

I agree with your reply, but the word "tart" is too kind. They're getting paid good money for those couch dances they give. Have we seen this exploitation on any other "news" channel? Why is that?
