Open Carry advocate kills husband and stepdaughter. Then drives herself to a mental hospital.

Courtesy of The Dallas Morning News:

An Arlington woman faces a charge of capital murder Wednesday after two people were discovered dead in her home, police said.

Officials said they were treating the slayings as a domestic homicide. Veronica Dunnachie, 35, is being held in the Arlington City Jail, said Sgt. Jeffrey Houston, a police spokesman. Bail had not yet been set.

The victims had not been identified and the cause of death had not been released.

Since this article the bodies were identified as her estranged husband Russ Dunnachie and his adult daughter.

After the slayings the suspect drove herself to Millwood Hospital, a mental health facility, where she was taken into custody. She was uninjured.

Separations, divorces,  child custody battles, happen everyday in this country. Usually there are harsh words, recriminations, and lawyer fees.

But when you see the world as a dangerous place, and carry a gun on your person for protection, a verbal confrontation can escalate into something far more dangerous than simply hurtful words.

Despite what the NRA might want all of us to believe, in this case at least the presence of a gun is directly responsible for the taking of life, not the protection of life.

The equation is simple; no gun = no death.

In Sarah's latest facebook post she tells of Willow winning the Wasilla Highschool swim team fundraiser raffle, the prize? A Remington rifle with as she puts it "A sweet scope". This is a Highschool raffle prize? With all the school shootings that have happened this is not even a matter of political correctness,it's a matter of stupidity.

Gift certificates to local businesses would have put money back into the local economy and helped buy some Christmas presents, but a rifle? Do they assume all residents of Wasilla hunt? That they would all like to pretend they have to just to put food on the table? which we always hear from Old Sarah.

I doubt if Willow even hunts but i'm sure we will soon see a picture of her and her prize rifle, you know all about having a "Still spine" and living vibrantly. Tell me not everyone in Wasilla is thrilled that a rifle was a prize. I don't care if people hunt, or shoot guns, i do care that a Highschool coulb have such a careless attitude about all the shootings that have occurred at other schools.

I second everything you say, especially as this is the second anniversary of the Sandy Hook shootings.

This being a high school raffle prize is beyond bizarre.

But, in addition, Sarah put this up because it gives her a chance to mention "high school" and "swim team" in relation to one of her children the ones who ran screaming away from high school as fast as they could, and probably can't swim.

Wait, how can Willow be part of a high school swimming team when she's no longer in high school? Aren't just students supposed to be part of the teams? Did you mean Piper?

Sorry, I just re-read the post, that Willow won the Wasilla High School team's fundraiser RAFFLE ticket. So please ignore my last post about her being on the team.

And yes, yes, and yes, agree with your comments. Why would a high school give out a rifle in the climate we're in today with crazy folks going berserk.

We've all met those people who brag and drop names even though nobody cares and it makes them look ridiculous and desperate for other to think highly of them.

Sarah is feeling insecure after her boar "hunting" didn't go over so well. So she's desperate to get people to believe the following...

...she likes guns and so does her family (including her daughters)

...Willow has some connection to high school and her family are athletic supporters (although they are not athletes)

...Sarah knows something about guns and hunting ("sweet scope")

...Sarah comes from a place where raffling off a gun is a-ok, which she thinks is impressive.

...Sarah and her family are WINNERS! (they won a raffle)

The problem is that none of this is impressive to anybody except her drooling fans. We can all see that Sarah Palin is not a hunter or horse-rider, she knows very little about guns, and she and her husband don't care about their kids' education.

I think she's regressing even further. She used to have a mental/emotional age of a middle school mean girl. Now she's that snotty, insecure, elementary school mean girl. How pathetic.

      "SWEET SCOPE"

Wonder if a rill ammosexual would know what that means. Some kind of kinky tongue action with gun accessories?

I said this before and I will say it again, these ammo-sexuals are scared little cowards.

Is Willow mentally competent to own a gun?

Willow's last name is Palin so it's fairly obvious that she's not competent to own a gun or to cook or pick out a suitable boyfriend. Like all the Palin's, she's not even competent to behave herself when attending a party which explains why they aren't invited to parties but have to crash them.

Most of the Palins still struggle with bladder control. She takes after her sister.

    Sometime in the future ....

Willow is cleaning her gun ... then it goes BANG ... then Sarah drops to floor dead.

    Karma is wicked bad

I don't think the insanity defense is going to play in this case. Driving one's self to the nuthouse would indicate at least of modicum of sanity.

As for the Palin clan, there really isn't any hope, is there?

The problem with Wayne LaPierre's statement about a "bad guy with a gun" and a "good guy with a gun" is that it tries to reduce every situation to black and white.

And in this world, very very few things are black-and-white, right-and-wrong, yes-or-no binary choices.

Not only is our world composed of varying shades of gray, but is also in color. And think of the different shades of, let's say, red. You can go to any clothing store right now and lay out twenty different "red" shirts and every one of them could be a different shade of red.

Every color has various hues and intensities, as does the gray-scale as does each of our lives separately and which compound collectively.

And that is why the simple-minded "Good guy with a gun"-"bad guy with a gun" is a lie...

    A dangerous lie.

On the advice of a "friend" whom she called after the fact, she drove herself to a mental health facility. Did they really think that was going to fly? An important thing to note is that she killed her husband and his daughter from another marriage but NOT the three children they had together even though they were supposedly also in the home at the time. That is forethought - i.e. FIRST degree murder. She might be mentally unbalanced but not in a way that gets one out of murder charges.

The caption in the photo reads "mama didn't raise no victim!"

I guess this particular mama's girl makes victims.

Rule #1: Bar psychos from owning guns.

Rule #2: If you take a gun to a shopping center or any other public space where you can hang out and stress people because it's a fun thing to do, the results of your psych evaluation are in - and you ain't gonna' like the results, psycho.

"athletic supporters = articles of underclothing"
Thank you for choosing such an appropriate phrase to describe the Palins. They truly are the dirty underwear of society!

She kind of jumped the shark, but why go bother mentally ill people after murdering your husband and daughter? This is Wasilla, right? Go rent a hummer and crash a party instead.

Not to beat a dead horse, but who phones a friend for advice on what to do next? You're a gun carrying, killing nut job and don't have the sense to seek legal advice? If she REALLY wanted to impress people, she'd have turned the gun on herself before aiming at the husband and family. It's called "Suicide, Attempted Murder x2." and they'd put her name on the new law to stop it! Instant name recognition!
