"Here's the truth they can't or won't report: I'm the one who has supported these troops - much more than the bloviators on Fox News," Moore writes before listing the many ways they're misinformed in their opinion of him. When Moore's father passed away, he asked that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Veterans for Peace. The filmmaker also refuses to do business with vendors that don't hire vets, sits on the Advisory Board of the Pvt. Bradley (Chelsea) Manning Support Network and has donated thousands of dollars to "help veterans and wounded warriors."
There's also this: "From the Dept. of Irony: I only hire Navy SEALS and ex-special forces for when I need security - such as this week, when so-called supporters of those SEALs want me harmed," Moore said.
While Moore's remarks on director Clint Eastwood's American Sniper, a film that Matt Taibbi called "almost too dumb to criticize," is what started this whole ordeal, Moore is still showing the film at the movie theatre he programs in Manistee, MI. "Not because I like it, but because, unlike the other side, I'm not a censor," Moore wrote. "I trust smart people and people of good heart will know what to do. You can't have a conversation about what Clint Eastwood is up to if you haven't seen what it is he's up to." Also of note: A vet serves as that theater's projectionist.
"In the end, the thing I'm most proud of for what I've done for the troops was sticking my neck out 12 years ago to become a leading opponent to Bush and the war. I tried to save more lives than a sniper ever could hope to – by preventing us from going to war in the first place," Moore wrote. "So, Fox News and the other lazy media -- quit making shit up about me! You look ridiculous."
So Moore not only hires vets any time that he can, he also donates money to veterans organizations.
Kin of makes me wonder just how many times that Palin has donated money to the veterans?

There were two anti-Michael Moore letters in our local paper today In Traverse City Mi where Michael Moore led the restoration of the downtown movie theatre, began an annual film festival that makes millions of dollars for local businesses and restaurants and a winter comedy festival that lights up the streets in gloomy, cold February each year. He's also active in many charitable organizations in the area. By the way, Manistee is not very far away from us and has another movie theatre of which Michael Moore orchestrate the restoration. One letter writer insisted that our theatre show "American Sniper" and the other one is sure that Michael Moore spat on Vietnam veterans just because anyone who opposed that war surely spat on veterans.

Kudos to Michael Moore for helping veterans! I'm the college graduate, "librul", progressive wife of a Navy veteran who served ('66-'70) on an aircraft carrier during the Viet Nam war. Hubby is now 70 and is not a "joiner", but I gladly and proudly donate my time and resources as a member of the ladies auxiliary of a national veteran's organization.

I’m sure that his grandfather who died serving this country is rolling over in his grave knowing that his grandson is using him to justify him calling U.S. service men cowards. I’d be willing to bet that at some point during his grandfather’s service, he was watched over by U.S. snipers, and probably had his life saved more than once by U.S. snipers during the war.
I served as a Marine sniper for three years, and I believe the film American Sniper depicted what we do perfectly. A sniper’s primary goal is to eliminate ground threats for U.S. guys on the ground. Is that what a coward is? A person whose goal is to save the lives of his warrior brothers?
No, cowards are people who didn’t have the guts to serve, and are happy to sit back in a free and protected country and call our service members cowards. I find it funny that this Moore guy would only say this after Chris Kyle was killed. I’d have loved to see him say that to Chris’s face.
Look, I’ve never seen a Michael Moore movie and sure don’t plan to. I’d call on everyone to boycott this idiot’s films. Don’t embrace or support his ignorance.

Michael Moore is a great guy and his post really shows Fox News how despicable they are. The critics and those few vets, who exploit their duty and honorable service, for money and books and reality TV shows, don't support the troops; they shame the troops and real veterans, who don't boast and look their noses down on Americans who exercise their freedom of speech.

Michael Moore supports the military in his own way. He doesn't trump it like Palin does, and really, what does she do to really support those with PTSD?

Kyle and Meyer had better propaganda then Pat Tillman. Who the DoD was using to be a hero soldier to promote their war and sucker young kids to go fight for oil, drugs and poppy Bush.

Howard Dean was correct. The real American Snipers were seen at Cliven Bundy's ranch attacking the federal agents and the boys in blue. It wasn't pretty and they aren't heroes.

Say what you want about Michael Moore, he puts his money where his mouth is and tries to help his fellow men and women. He showed pure class in his response, the rest were just showing their ignorance, especially that thang in black with the sign and the smirk.
