Mike Huckabee explains that he is NOT homophobic, he's just a good Christian.

Courtesy of Right Wing Watch:

Mike Huckabee, doing his best to channel Dr. Jenna Jacobs, said in a recent interview with televangelist Jim Bakker that he doesn’t have any personal animus towards gay people, explaining that he opposes gay rights merely because that is what the Bible commands him to do.

Huckabee, who once called homosexuality “an aberrant, unnatural and sinful lifestyle” and demanded that the government quarantine people with HIV/AIDS, said he is offended that anyone thinks he is homophobic.

“The way that we’ve allowed words like tolerance, bigotry — what has happened to us, we allow ourselves to be called homophobic or bigoted, we’re not,” Huckabee told Bakker in the latest segment of their interview recent interview to be posted online. “We are just people who believe that there is a standard that was not ours, it was God’s, it was given to us and for us to change it we have to get his permission.”

This led Huckabee to rant against the public schools for undermining “core moral values” and teaching that America is an “evil, imperialistic nation,” telling Bakker that “it’s pretty frightening in that there are so many ways in which the education system is not educating but indoctrinating, it’s why we see so many parents who are going to homeschool or pulling their children out of government-operated school.”

Remember homeschoolers this book has all you need to know about the history of America.

And whatever you do don't let your children read those textbooks in public school because they are edited by none other than Satan himself. And as for college, do you really hate your kids enough to send them to that den of sin?

Just remember folks this is the guy who just quit his Fox News hosting position to run for the President of these United States, and the people watching this show (Damn I thought Jim Bakker was dead.) are behind him 100% of the way.

I swear these people scare me WAY more than Al-Qaeda or ISIS ever will.

Just remember, it wasn't that long ago that George Wallace campaigned for president with an ugly, Christian agenda. It takes time to make meaningful change and sometimes we lose some ground. But, we are evolving. Thank you to all the Jim &Tami Bakers, Oral Roberts, Mike Huckabees, Sarah Palins, Joel Olsteens, etc, etc, for making me see the light and walk away from religion.

Jesse, Evangelical Christian Americans are brain fucked. They want their saviors, heroes and yes patriots cut out of the same mold which is sad. They are also opposed to any rational thought that isn't clearly spelled out in their book of myths and never truths.

It has been reported 37 Americans have been killed by Islamic terriosts since 9/11/01. I would speculate evangelical religious nuts are responsible for many more deaths from various causes in that period. Yes, these people are more dangerous to Americans.

I think their guns kill more people than that every day, most of them children. Did they get permission from God to own and load more weapons than their local police?

I wonder how many gay weddings there would be with Al-Qaeda or ISIS running the show?

Why, orgy, are you concerned that they would prevent you from marrying your partner?

Is Huckabee's son, the dog killer, a good christian?

I don't that is really a valid point, since no one here is proposing that we should adopt a different religious agenda. Nor are we assuming that our lot would be better with a terrorist group.

Orlin sellers you are making a very feeble attempt to repeat the Republican meme that we have to fight the terrorists over there or they will come here. And you assume that if they come here, they will take over.

And that is a false premise. How would they get here? And when they did, don't you think others, not yourself of course because you are a chicken hawk, would fight and die to keep them out?

I told before orlin and I will tell you again; you are an idiot.

Well, Orlin, I can tell you why. Because members of Al-Qaeda and ISIS don't hold political office in the US. Because they also don't have media coverage to state their beliefs as being "American." And they don't have their own news programs.

As an American, my safety, health, and way of life are much more at risk from people like Huckabee and his supporters than from Al-Qaeda or ISIS.

Beware of Mike Hucklebuck. This cheesdick is truly a wolf in sheeps clothing.
I too thought Jim Bakker had croaked. Maybe it's a Repub remake of Weekend At Bernies and they just prop him up for special occasions.
Even With all his anti gay bullshit, my gaydar needle jumps off the meter with this charlatan, I don't care how many kids he has. Also too Huckleberry, lay off the twinkles and donuts.

I've never understood why anyone would follow the liar Huckabee. I listened to his radio show back a few years ago and caught him in so many lies when he talked about government.

He is 'another' supposed Christian Republican that lies his ass off.

He is way overweight as are his sons! He'll probably keel over from a heart attack in the not too distant future. The stress of a campaign (a losing one at that!) will not be good for his health!

If people like Huckabee really believed in God, they would accept as God's permission the simple fact that he allows homosexuals to be born.

They preach God up and down and sideways, but it's the OLD Testament, not the New. They stand for everything Jesus was against yet call themselves "Christian." What a pile. Read the Sermon On The Mount for once in your life and try to follow it for once.

Huckabee might be wise to remember that it was people just like him who justified slavery with the bible stating that he is just following God. Horse feathers.

The man is a fraud. He himself is now pretending to run for President so he can sell his new book, 'God Guns Grits and Gravy'. And from the size of the bastard, he should lay off the gravy.

If God made us all, all old Huck claims, then God made the gays too. No one chooses who they are. We are already many things at birth. Some have blue eyes, some have brown skin, some have curly hair and some are gay.

But if God should choose to give old Huck a heart attack from all that gravy and gluttony and take him to where he deserves to go, then so much the better.

Can there be a difference between being personally homophobic and being an idiotic 'bible-believing' fundamentalist who accepts the teaching that homosexual sex is a sin?

My experience is that fundamentalism can create homophobia but I'm not 100% sure that's what's going on and may not fully grasp the meaning of 'homophobe'. There's also the problem of fundamentalist desire to control women and their sexuality.

Hmmm...I went to Catholic school but I STILL think that America is imperialistic and has occasionally done things that are pretty shameful, particularly during the last administration.

Perhaps the difference is that I switched to public school for the higher grades, continued on to college and graduate school, and pay attention to what's going on in the world. I also get my information from sources other than FauxNews.

Yeah, that's probably the reason why I think Huckabee is an idiot.

“We are just people who believe that there is a standard that was not ours, it was God’s, it was given to us and for us to change it we have to get his permission.”

If Fuckabee isn't stopping on his way to/from church and stoning those he sees working on the sabbath (and apparently he's not or he'd be in much better shape), then he doesn't see himself needing divine permission or biblical sanction to strike down whatever directives from god that he doesn't himself approve. That leaves no room to debate that he follows whatever fatwa against gays he claims to follow because he personally approves it, and not because he grants himself no right to choose to do otherwise. He has already established the falsity of that claim.

So, having failed to follow god's law to the letter and be a good Christian, and having simultaneously failed at being a rational human being, what's left for him but to be a mediocre celebrity Fox liar and a failed Teabag politician who would, if given the opportunity, take an oath to protect and defend our Constitution while seeking to overthrow it in favor of a theocracy? At least the man is consistent.

And Christian values = Capitalism. If you are not rich you have the wrong values. Heard that from one of these types. If you hit hard times she says it means you made bad choices, or you lie, or you just want to live off everybody else, lazy. Homeless fake mental illness so they can live off everybody else. More from her. I can't stand to repeat any more of it. Real compassion there, right?

O/T but from the Stay Alert Department:---

Soooo, it was Joni Ernst who delivered the rebuttal to Obama's SOTU --right? It was Joni Ernst who won her election, in part, because the Libertarian Candidate was killed in a plane crash shortly before the election--- are we paying ATTENTION folks??? Some power brokers really are depending on Ernst to deliver...

The day Huckleberry explains how he and his wife dealt with their uncleanness (his nocturnal emmissions, her menstruation) as proscribed by the same bible he claims can't be changed without god's permission is the day I'll listen to anything else this charlatan has to say about his or anyone else's religion or lack thereof.

“We are just people who believe that there is a standard that was not ours, it was God’s, it was given to us and for us to change it we have to get his permission.”

I bet he and the cretins like him don't even remember what's in this section of their immutable bible: Leviticus 15:19-33

Somewhere in the bible is also an instruction to the husband to put his unclean wife out of the house during the menses. He didn't do that either, I'll bet.

Where is Betty Bowers and her purseful of stones when we need her?!?
