Nor is it a truism that the military would be "honoured" with such a tribute given Kyle's questionable attitude and zealotry. If I were a veteran or active duty service person, I'd distance myself as far as possible from Abbott's cheap ploy to purchase popularity on the backs of those who died courtesy of his new-found hero's rifle barrel.

ReplyDeleteWhat irks me about Chris Kyle Day is that the TX Gov said .. We honor our heroes. First, Kyle isn't a hero. At best, he did his job, no more than the Apache pilot doing close air support. Next, has TX called for special days for their REAL heroes, like the living Medal of Honor winners? I did a quick search, didn't find one. As a vet, I can easily say, soldiers aren't heroes until the do something heroic. Their job, in itself, isn't heroic.
