Jeb Bush breaks from the GOP pack on vaccination fears to position himself as the only viable candidate against Hillary Clinton.

Courtesy of Mediaite:

Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush could only avoid the vaccination debate for so long. After watching potential 2016 Republican presidential primary opponents Chris Christie and Rand Paul face criticism for their less than enthusiastic embraces of vaccines amidst a measles outbreak, Bush did his best to skirt controversy on the issue during a speech before the Detroit Economic Club on Wednesday.

“Parents need to make sure their children are vaccinated,” he said definitively to applause from the crowd in attendance. “Do we need to get into any detail of that?” he asked.

“I’ve said things that are misinterpreted or partially interpreted and then heads explode and all source of media just create all this controversy,” Bush continued, perhaps in reference to Christie and Paul. “I think it’s better just to say parents have a responsibility to make sure their children are protected, over and out.”

This of course is the kind of definitive statement that fellow Republicans like Rand Paul, Chris Christie, and others have failed to make. And it is smart politics especially in light of Hillary's no BS statement on vaccinations.
Not only that but it appears that of all of the GOP potential candidates who can seriously challenge Hillary in the all important swing states. Jeb Bush comes out way ahead.

This courtesy of CNN:

Clinton has double digit leads over each of her would-be GOP foes for the presidency in Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania, with the exception of ties in Florida when matched up against the state's former Gov. Jeb Bush and in Ohio against current Gov. John Kasich, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released Tuesday. No candidate has won the presidency since 1960 without winning two of those three crucial states.

Other native sons didn't fare as well against the former secretary of state, with Clinton still topping Florida's Sen. Marco Rubio 49% to 39% and also leading Pennsylvania's former Sen. Rick Santorum by 10 points in his state.

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie flopped to Clinton by double digits in each of the three states, according to the poll, including in neighboring Pennsylvania where he caps at 39% to Clinton's 50%, according to the Quinnipiac survey of 881 voters in that state.

As I have been saying for quite some time now I think there is virtually NO doubt that our 2016 choices will be Hillary Clinton vs Jeb Bush.

And once again in my opinion if we have Hillary, they HAVE to go with Jeb, and if they have Jeb, we HAVE to go with Hillary. Any other choice will be steamrolled.

So any complaints we have about political dynasties, aggressive foreign policies, and Wall Street kissing up, we might as well air now, because in the end we are NOT going to get the squeaky clean super liberal that many of us want, and the Right is not going to get the Fundamentalist, big government hating, constitutional conservative that they want.

I think at this point the only thing that could stop the inevitable is a serious health problem, or a heretofore unknown scandal big enough to shock the electorate.

Jeb's facial expression in the pic looks like he's constipated and trying to make poopoo.

Karl Rove can usually be found crafting Republican candidate strategy so I have to assume that he was the one that had Jeb use this vaccination angle to get some free press.

I am also fed up with bullshit about "dynasties". Bill Clinton could not have raised himself from more humble circumstances. The Bushes have been a powerful wealthy patrician family for generations.

Hillary came out of Nowheresville USA and never got a pass on anything. There is NO Bush equivalence.

      @5:46. SP THINKS? Who knew

@4:59. I had to force myself to read the entire article. Sadly, I never found anything that I could stomach. The idiot is typical of his ilk in that it doesn't matter WHAT is prove, he doesn't see it.

As for the crap about Hillary and Elizabeth "skating"? When? Where? Does that damned fool think what the Congress did to Clinton was a skate? Yeah, right.

So that makes him nothing more than typical SP nut.

What bothers me is that these two families are close knit in real life. Please pay attention. So when Babs said the last thing this country needs is a THIRD Bush, and now out he trots, what is it? That no matter who wins, their agenda goes forward?

Wake up, IMers, there's a damn good reason Romney backed out after meeting with Jeb, and I don't trust any of them. Not a one, including the Clintons, and if you think I'm a $arah supporter....snort! Fate worse than death, and this is what we've become as a nation. Sad.

  10. Personally, I believe that there needs to be other people running on the Democratic side for the primary. Had an "anointed" person is not healthy for the whole political process. Plus, I'm not sure that HC is the person I want to represent me.

Then don't vote for her, it's that simple. Go green party, write someone in, it doesn't matter, don't let anyone make you feel pressured. Elections aren't like sports contests where there are only two teams there are usually many teams to choose from in an election so pick the one that is right for you. D or R aren't the only two by far.

1smartanerican... It's American, asshole, and you're not too smart! As for that anointed one shit, Mitt Romney, is there a democrat out there with more experience than HRC? Being a Governor or Legislator no longer cuts it for POTUS. Try to top her resume on the right!

How about YOU learn to read asshole before blasting other people. You're one of the "new breed" of commenters, the crass and less intelligent ones, that are leading many of us away from this blog.

You automatic assumption that I am a bible thumper is absolutely precious! Why, because I called you "crass"? You are crass, and loutish and obviously not too bright, as is evident from reading your hateful comment.

One does not have to be a "bible thumper" to call out hate and stupidity when one sees it. I don't care what sort of salty language you use, that's not the point, the point is you were being an asshole and lowering the level of discourse here at this blog and a lot of us are losing patience with idiots such as yourself spewing their knee-jerk hate around especially when people such as yourself display such an obvious lack of reading comprehension.

You are tedious and not fun to play with. Go spend time on Politico there are more of "you" over there than there are here.

    SCOTUS decides vaccine debate . . . in 1905

We are unwilling to hold it to be an element in the liberty secured by the Constitution of the United States that one person, or a minority of persons, residing in any community and enjoying the benefits of its local government, should have the power thus to dominate the majority when supported in their action by the authority of the state.

How things have changed. Today's SCOTUS, owned by the likes of the Koch brothers, would say the opposite: that "one person or a minority of persons" should "have the power . . . to dominate the majority." The SCOTUS of 1905 understood the Constitution a lot better than the likes of Scalia, Roberts and Thomas today.

Republican Senator: Government Shouldn’t Make Food Servers Wash Hands

...Tillis sees government mandated hand washing as an unfair burden on employers.....

....Sorry, Mr. Tillis, but my right to eat safe food trumps any company’s right to let their employees make my sandwich with fecal matter on their hands, simply because they don’t like government regulations. Anti-government rhetoric remains popular with conservative voters. However, when anti-regulatory politicians like Thom Tillis abandon common sense in favor of dogmatic ideology, it endangers public health. Honestly, the idea that company’s should be able to opt out of basic sanitation requirements is not only patently absurd, it is also just plain gross.

True that Rayleigh scattering results in a higher scattering of short wavelengths so the sky is actually a mixture of colors, a combination of scattering and the wavelengths inherent in sunlight. Is that what you mean? Or are you just being petulant?

      @ 8:42

I wonder if you could explain to me the difference between "the sky is blue" and "It just looks that way"? Color is perceived and recognized by our eyes. If something LOOKS blue, it's usually a pretty good bet that to our eyes and our minds IT IS BLUE! That IS our general reference point, isn't it? One all we humans share?

  17. Unfortunately for us Dems, history (2008) shows that if there's one person who can squander a huge lead in the polls and lose, it's Hillary. In spending her career trying to be all things to all people, she failed to become a person with principle. I'll vote for her and hope for the best, but she is no Barack Obama.
