Sent to my phone late last night by my daughter.

Lately my daughter and I have been spending quite a lot of time together, whihc has been great since when she leaves for a job I sometimes don't communicate with her for weeks at a time.

Anyhow lately we have been discussing movies (Our favorite topic), technology, the Occulus Rift, politics, and, most recently, atheism.

As some of you may remember I took great pains to keep pains to keep my views on religion to myself while my daughter was growing up, and her mother did just the opposite and inflicted fundamentalist Christianity on her while living in Georgia.

Anyhow fairly recently my daughter has decided, almost completely on her own, that religion sucks balls.

And as a newly outed Atheist my daughter is demonstrating a kind of pugnacious approach toward religion that has caused her to start arguments with family members, friends, and even people at work.

I am currently attempting to be supportive while also letting her know that challenging people's belief systems in some arenas can have negative effects on her relationships and employment opportunities.

Ultimately I think she will be fine as she is well liked by her peers and an absolute beast at her job.

I have to admit though, I could not be prouder of her. And what a great time to be nonreligious.

I really think this new enlightenment is going to be something spectacular.

I have a hunch your ex probably blames YOU entirely for "your" daughter's future in hell! I can't imagine the arguments she tries to inflict on your daughter - assuming she still relates to her mother - especially in her current "tell-it-like-it-is" stage.

    DAYUM!

As for the post? I have to completely agree.

I struggled inside myself for years feeling guilt that I didn't embrace what I had been taught since birth. I even forced my own child to attend church for a brief period, until he expressed his dislike of it. As an adult he told me that he was an Atheist. Oh what a relief it was to me that he could do what took me years to accomplish.

Well let's hear it for the Gryphette. A little golf clap here.

Know that you are not alone. Our numbers are growing every day and it scares the snot right out of these fake xtians. They are too stupid to understand that it is THEM pushing people away.

More and more are finally seeing religion for what it is, all about money and power. Made by men to control the lowly peons.

Isn't the motto for the United Hates of Murica, "me for me and all for me?" Or is that the first commandment?

That article says it all.....if you are a student of history there can be little doubt how religion has been used to gain power, to control..to dominate, little else. It is ironic I am watching Dancing with Wolves....the American Plain Indian believed a true human being lives in harmony with nature and each other, that was their religion. We are living in a time where it has all come to a head I fear..electing a black man has poured fire on the open wound of 8 years of Bush and the Pandora's box they opened in Iraq. Hatred and greed seem to be controlling everything, I find taking longer and longer breaks from the news.

I grew up Catholic but by the time I was a teenager, I knew I did not believe in a supreme being. I thought I knew everything (typical teenager!) and my way of trying to convince my religious family was to insult their belief. Needless to say, I've change in the past 5 decades and would never insult a person for their belief system. Live and let live.

That's fine with me, too, 7:07, except for one thing: THEY don't live and let live. So when they try to force me to their way of thinking or try to require I support their attempts at changing our government or other things the American Taliban attempts, I revolt and slap them any time I can.

This is a bit O/T, but I wanted to share it anyway, since we deal with so many trolls here...

You Won’t Believe What Happened When This Feminist Writer Confronted Her Worst Online Troll (AUDIO)

Feminist writer Lindy West may best be known for her work at Jezebel and GQ Magazine. Her funny, often sarcastic way of approaching difficult subjects has gained her a large fan base and a huge following on social media.

As anyone who works in the business of online writing will tell you, the more widely your work is read and the more popular you become, the more trolls you will attract. West is no exception to that unfortunate rule.

In a recent article published at Guardian.com, she describes what it’s like dealing with online trolls:

“Sometimes the hate trickles in slowly, just one or two messages a day. But other times, when I’ve written something particularly controversial (ie feminist) – like, say, my critique of men feeling entitled to women’s time and attention, or literally anything about rape – the harassment comes in a deluge. It floods my Twitter feed, my Facebook page, my email, so fast that I can’t even keep up (not that I want to).”

West says comments like “That broad doesn’t have to worry about rape,” or “No one would want to rape that fat, disgusting mess,” and “Holes like this make me want to commit rape out of anger,” are just a small sampling of the kinds of remarks that are directed at her on a regular basis.

It wasn’t until a Twitter troll stole an image of her dead father, using it to create a mock account under the name ‘PawWestDenezo’ that she was prompted to speak out about the vicious trolling.

...What happened next is nothing short of shocking.

Shedding religious beliefs can be a difficult and, sometimes, long process. The Gryphette sounds like a caring and intelligent young woman and I send good wishes for her journey on the freedom trail.

  8. Atheism only goes hand and hand with Marxist Communism that is propped up by crony capitalism. Who employs atheist? How are atheists experts on human behavior? Christ Insanity and Atheism are forms of conceited behavior. Atheism is still a form of religion. Religion is self serving fanaticism

Don't feed the trolls!
It just goes directly to their thighs.
