This is from a Politico story concerning the response of Democrats who are receiving fundraising e-mails from Democratic operatives and PACs while Hillary remains officially uncommitted to running in 2016:
“I’m not going to be ready for Hillary until she announces she’s running for president,” said (Mary) Tetreau, a three-decade veteran of New Hampshire primary politics, who called Ready for Hillary’s early-and-often email approach “annoying.”
Though it amounts to little more than a nuisance in the grand scheme of the 2016 election, it does point to a downside of Clinton’s strategy of staying out of the public eye while her supporters campaign on her behalf. Namely, that it could create Clinton fatigue among activists and fuel concerns that she’s taking the Democratic nomination for granted.
“I’ll be ready for Hillary when Hillary’s ready for Hillary,” said Bill Verge, a Democratic activist who played a key role in John Kerry’s 2004 New Hampshire campaign. Like Tetreau, Verge, who said he has been “inundated with emails daily,” counts himself a likely Clinton supporter — but one turned off by the aggressive fundraising on behalf of a candidate who appears intent on postponing an official entry into the race possibly until July.
"I'll be ready for Hillary when Hillary's ready for Hillary." I have to say I agree with this sentiment.
Especially after the deluge of annoying fundraising e-mails I received during the 2014 midterms.
I have every intention of donating some money when things start heating up, but right now I just feel it is wrong to ask us to commit our hard earned money, until there is a commitment from the candidate herself.
And I kind of feel that way concerning blogging about he campaign as well.
Once again I am sure I will post many supportive blog posts in the future, but right now it just feels premature.
I agree with ya Gryphen, I'm already burned out on Hillary and all the GOP candidates. Why can't we have campaigns that didn't start until six months before the actual election?
ReplyDeleteAnd yet everyone is complaining that Hillary hasn't announced yet.
DeleteThey're complaining because she's trying to play that stupid, coy "I haven't decided whether I want to run yet..."--when it has been clear since the last election that she is going to. Among the things I don't like about her as a politician is the naked formulaic approach she uses. No one would accuse her of being an Oscar worthy actress and it just insults all of our intelligences to have to play along with the "will she or won't she?" when it is clear as day that she intends to run.
DeleteShe and Obama really know how to work it. They know that the first rule of politics of the groups behind you hoisting you up. Though really, that's ANY industry really. Life is about referrals.
ReplyDeleteActors, politicians are nothing without grassroots. Obama knows that WELL
THIS is amazing. Now tell me the media isn't leftwing based. If it weren't, THIS would be blown up to death

The media isn't leftwing based.
DeleteAlicia from Florida
DeleteAlicia from Florida, Palin troll at 9:18 and 9:19. Her syntax is practically a signature.
DeleteThe media is not "left-wing based." Anyone who thinks it is doesn't have a clue.
DeleteAnyone who thinks the media is left wing biased gets all their news from Fox. Fox has done an excellent job getting people to believe they are the only news source you can trust
DeleteWhat a change G man. I remember when you HATED this woman.
ReplyDeleteWhen exactly did Gryphen hate Hilary Clinton?
DeleteHe has never hated her... the closest he got was "dubious"... otherwise he has been a Hilary cheerleader all along.
DeleteHilary's assumption of power is a self-fulfilling prediction, one that she is counting on.
NO DAMNED DYNASTIES!
Oh poor Alicia, you don't quite understand that the world isn't love or hate do you? We all get to make our choices and then we make them again after the major parties have made their choices. Get an education and you may well learn to understand how normal people use reason to think.
DeleteA little off topic but politically related. Isn't it a bit strange that we as a country refer to local and state leaders by their formal titles, yet our congressman and president by their last names?
ReplyDeleteSeriously.
Funny story though. Around 2001?, I was in NY at a huge conference for work. I exited my hotel elevator and leisurely walking toward the bar to meet someone when a gentleman stopped me with a proposition. I thought, "you ARE attractive but clearly under some influence" and politely declined saying my guest was probably waiting for me.
Found my friend a minute later. The first thing she said to me was, "what was that like?" I replied, "huh?" "Um, having CHRIS DODD hit on you!"
Oh. THAT was why he vaguely looked familiar.
Didn't he get married around that time too?
This is why men have a bad rap
Men have a bad rap because Chris Dodd hit on you once when he was engaged or married?
DeleteUnder the influence is right!
DeleteYou are one strange little bunny rabbit.
DeleteChris Dodd is an ass. If an ass hit on me I'd be very offended instead of talking about it on the internet.
DeleteChris Dodd didn't hit on this person and this person certainly was not at a NYC hotel for work in 2001.
DeleteI've been studiously ignoring all the "ready for Hillary" emails and the money-requesting emails from other political groups. I'll make my contributions in 2016.
ReplyDeleteBeaglemom
Ya'll had your chance 6 years ago. But now, if she runs, whatcha gonna do, she'll never be as great as Obama is. Ya'll would be going backwards and with a lesser person at that.
ReplyDeleteWhat a strange comment.
DeleteStrange? Makes perfect sense to me.
DeleteVery odd.
DeleteYah, think of how annoyed Mitt Romney's supporters would be if they'd already donated to his 2016 campaign.
ReplyDeleteHell, yeah! You know, Fox News has started this fake story 'Where's Hillary'. The truth is, she's a private citizen and hasn't declared anything as of yet. She's probably doting on her grand baby.
ReplyDeleteIt irritates me too.
ReplyDeleteHillary Clinton is the Republican Parties favorite Democrat! They constantly promote her, why would I want to vote for her again?
ReplyDeleteI supported Hillary Clinton in 2008 and made contributions to her campaign. I'll do the same in 2016, just as soon as that campaign gets underway.
ReplyDeleteme too
DeleteThere's enough money in politics, they don't need mine.
ReplyDeleteI've always felt that way too 10:38.
DeleteI always though a better option is to starve them all out. Then we'd really see who wants the job for the right reasons.
Exactly! She's a millionaire.
DeleteAlmost all of these politicians are, or quickly become filthy rich. (I am using filthy deliberately, since cronyism and lobbying are the mechanisms.)
Running the country ought not be a family business, especially not for a member of The Family.
The corporate donors are going to run the show, not us little donors giving $2000 or less. It's not in my best interest because political deductions aren't tax deductible.
DeletePraise Jeebus!

You prefer Jeb Bush? Hey, maybe third time's the charm.
DeleteOr maybe Mike Huckabee? Ted Cruz or Marco Rubio? Ben Carson? Chris Christie? Scott Walker?
Ready to turn this country over to Rand Paul?
Hahaha 12:07. What are you going to do when Hillary doesn't get the nomination? What are you going to do?
DeleteIt's that kind of thinking that got us The Shrub.
DeleteYou can vote for whomever you like, but so will I.
DeleteWhat are we going to do? What a stupid question.
DeleteWell what is your stupid answer 12:54?
DeleteAs far as I'm concerned, "progressives" are not Democrats. They support Democratic candidates when they choose but they whine and complain the rest of the time. Besides they gave us George W. Bush, twice.
DeleteBeaglemom
Here's Maureen Dowd on Hillary.......

No more Bushes! No more Clintons!
ReplyDeleteNO DAMNED DYNASTIES!!!
The Claudians and the Julians ought to be enough of an example of why patrician families should never be allowed to control the government through inheritance.
Why have elections at all? Simple: siphon as much money as possible from the gullible masses while "entertaining" them with endless campaigns. TPTB get wealthier, while we get more desperate.
The Republican clown car picks up another passenger as the circus rolls on. The Democratic clown car only appears to be empty under the spotlights. And while the public is fascinated watching the sideshow freaks, they won't complain about being underemployed (if at all), homeless, struggling with a crumbling infrastructure, or paying for endless wars.
I will not vote to further erode democracy in America. I will not vote for a war-mongering theocrat. I will write in Elizabeth Warren's name, as the best hope for a representative with my interests at heart.
NO DAMNED DYNASTIES!!!
Yes Alicia, we know you won't vote for Hillary, but many of us will. Now go and write a letter to the Sno Ho.
Delete12:52 PM. You are as brain dead as a Palin worshiper.
DeleteI have blacklist ALL email correspondence for DNC and affiliated groups. They will have zero monetary support from me BECAUSE of the 'gimme spamming'. They are seriously hurting fundraising for the actual election.
ReplyDeleteIt's almost as if it is a Teabagging group doing the spamming...
I agree, it's the worst. I had to try three times to get off the OFA mailing list and thankfully never became part of DNC or Hillary. As it's shaping up I'd like to see some sort of alternative to Hillary; I've been a Nadar voter twice so even a third party would be a welcome placeholder for my vote.
DeleteI donated to a political party for the first time in my long life during Obama's two campaigns. Shortly after that I was inundated with phone calls and emails begging for money for every damned Democrat that ever drew a breath, the majority of which I wouldn't give the time of day to.
DeleteI finally got off the phone list by being rude to them, telling them I didn't have any money and wouldn't give it to them if I had any. I hated having to do that because I don't like to be rude to people, but they really pushed my buttons. I still get emails but I always mark them as Junk.
I voted for the man, not the party. That's how I do things.
You are never required to donate. But Hillary announcing early will ONLY help the GOP.
ReplyDeleteI'm Ready For Someone Else.
ReplyDeleteI'm dismayed that the Democrats seem to be stepping back and saying "It's Hillary's turn." I fear this is a recipe for a Democratic loss of the White House in 2016.
My resistance to Hillary is two-fold: I don't want to vote for anyone duped by George Bush into voting to authorize the Iraq War, and I don't want to send this message to young girls: Any girl can grow up to be President -- just find and marry a man who can be president first. Once you're First Lady, your party will sweep all opposition from your path (bye-bye Nita Lowey) so you can waltz into a Senate seat, and you'll be on your way back to the White House. Easy-peasy.
This feminist would be thrilled to see Elizabeth Warren, or Barbara Lee, or even Janet Napolitano, or many others be our first female president. I won't be so enthusiastic about a Hillary victory if she manages to pull it off, which I doubt. Too much Clinton baggage -- many people don't want to return Bill Clinton to the White House and have his private life become, once again, the nation's concern.
Run, Elizabeth, Run!
Elizabeth has said no at least 100 times. There needs to be someone else besides her to take on Hillary in the primary and unfortunately it seems that no one is stepping up to the plate.
DeleteWe need Warren in the trenches in the Senate, where she is becoming a significant leader on our behalf.
DeleteM from MD
Hey M from MD.
DeleteWarren can do as she pleases, she isn't a slave to what 'we' (you) need or dictate. And don't use 'we' when you only speak for yourself.
I'm with you. When Hillary declares, then I'll see what I'm willing to do, but not before then!
ReplyDeleteM from MD
I agree no support until she confirms she is running. I do like that she is waiting to announce and making the GOP all sort of nuts about it.
