Teenager shoots himself in the head playing Russian Roulette. Now who could have seen that coming?

Courtesy of ABC News Los Angeles:

Sheriff's officials say a 17-year-old in unincorporated Torrance has died after accidentally shooting himself in the head playing Russian roulette.

Authorities responded to the 900 block of West Carson Street just after midnight. The teen was rushed to a local hospital, where he was declared dead a short time later.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the teen had produced a .38-caliber special revolver and stated that he was going to play Russian roulette. Two minors who were present in the bedroom were pleading with him not do it.

Look I don't want to tell ABC News how to do their job, but typically when somebody puts a gun up to their head and pulls the trigger, that cannot be categorized as "accidentally."

I can see it now soon people will start blaming violent video games, and possibly "The Deer Hunter" for this accident.

But let's face it stupid kids do stupid things every single day. Hell every single minute it seems.

However if they do not have access to firearms it greatly reduces the number of deaths that result from those stupid choices, and hell it reduces the number of "accidental" shootings to zero.

Simply put unless you are living in the middle of nowhere surrounded by dangerous animals, or currently fighting for your life in a zombi apocalypse, there is simply no good reason for seventeen year old boys to have access to guns without adult supervision.

I'm not sure why this qualifies as a news story, seems like everything worked as designed. Headline should be:

TEENAGER'S GUN FUNCTIONING PERFECTLY IN GAME OF RUSSIAN ROULETTE CORRECTLY PLAYED. WINNER NOT AVAILABLE FOR COMMENT.

I do, however feel awful for the other kids who had to witness this stupidity firsthand.

What a cruel and inhumane comment. Glib, unfeeling people like you sure as fuck don't improve the gene pool.

Nice, 8:39. Very nice comment. It, of course, only reflects on YOUR behavior as an unfeeling person. 6:07 has a point, even though you don't like it.

Ignorance is curable. Stupidity is not. (Well, except for this technique.) I feel sorry for the parents. I feel sorry for the kids in the room with him. I feel sorry for the police officers who had to investigate this occurrence. I feel sorry for the medical personnel who had to deal with it. I do NOT feel sorry for the idiot dumb enough to put a loaded gun to his head and then pull the trigger!

I agree with 6:07. Hey you! Out of the gene pool. Does that make me a glib person? Or unfeeling? No. I am not insincere, nor am I shallow. And I feel it was an appropriate comment. But then, that is MY opinion, which shouldn't draw insulting and foul language such as you have slapped 6:07 with. There were - and are - better ways to express your dislike. Why get foul mouthed?

      Stupidity SHOULD be mocked.

Well, it's clear that he didn't see it coming.

Today I learned to be careful when looking down at ones boobs. Especially if there is a loaded gun stashed there.

Judging a teenager as an adult, Wow, I'm pretty sure we all did stupid shit when we were teens, they just weren't fatal. I feel for the boys family.

I lost a few friends when I was in my teens, and they were all for dumb things.
