Courtesy of Vocativ:
Of the lawmakers currently serving in the U.S. Senate, Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) is the least likely to show up for work. He’s been in office for four years, and of 1,198 opportunities to vote, he has declined to do so 99 times. That’s an absentee rate of 8.2 percent—four times the Senate average of 2.01 percent.
Working with GovTrack.us, Vocativ examined the voting records of every sitting congressman to determine who plays hooky the most. When looking into the Senate, we omitted Mark Kirk, who is technically No. 1, because he missed a year of work in 2012 while recovering from a stroke. We also omitted John McCain, who is technically No. 2, because he ran for president on two separate occasions. In the House, we gave Bobby Rush (D-IL) a pass because he took extended leaves of absence for personal and family health reasons. We considered all other members of both chambers eligible.
Gee aren't Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz, and Lindsey Graham making noise about wanting to run for President? This should really help.
It should be noted on the House side of things the Democrats miss votes far more than the Republicans though that might partly be due to the fact that the Republicans can pass any damn thing they want and it really does not matter if the Dems vote or not.
However as it turns out Alaska's sole Congressman Don Young still manages to come in second on missed votes.
Yep, he makes us so proud.
Um, number three is a Democrat.
ReplyDeleteWell so there is.
DeleteDon't know how I missed that.
And in the House, missed votes go to Dems by a wide margin. Don't those missed votes count?
DeleteUnfortunately, there is one Dem in there at number 3.
ReplyDeleteSneaky devil.
DeleteFixed now, thanks.
You're a liar, Alicia. You have a theater arts degree. You're not married. You live with your parents. And you certainly have never made 90k/year EVER.
ReplyDeleteYou work in a high-stress job?
hahahahahahahahaha
You are full of shit, Alicia.
ReplyDeleteI agree with not counting missed votes due to health reasons, but in McCain's case he was looking for another job. Since when does job hunting count as a reason not to do your current job?
ReplyDeleteI have to give him a pass on that one. Obama, Clinton, Biden, and Kerry missed time to run for POTUS too.
DeleteI think your wrong academic record can and seems to indicate intelligence level. There are exceptions but I believe they are a the minority. Anecdotal evidence is always entertaining.
ReplyDeleteIf any of these clowns were working in the private sector they would have been fired for poor attendance.
ReplyDeleteThey all should have their pay docked, but that will never happen since they can even decide when they get their own raises.
Agree with 7:01AM, "job hunting" is not an excuse for not showing up for your current job, again no one in the private sector could get away with this.
Alaska has the worst representation in the much disliked U.S. Congress!
ReplyDeleteLisa Murkowski being one due to having the nastiest tongue in thoughts and words! Plus, her physical appearance being that of a witch when she speaks so carelessly! Just watch her make hateful speeches and you'll see what I mean!
She is getting herself in mass trouble in Alaska due to Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell's recent trip! Lisa was full of nothing more than hate toward President Obama and Ms. Jewell in the many comments she made to the press and Alaska TV stations prior to Jewell's arrival!
It was a slice of heaven seeing Jewell not back down to Murkowski! She actually countered Murkowski's threats pointing out that Alaskans would lose jobs if she did what she was threatening!
And, now President Obama will visit Alaska in August! Something Murkowski was not aware of except through a conversation she recently had with John Kerry! Loved Kerry catching her with her pants down! Why in the hell would President Obama notify Murkowski of his plans concerning Alaska? She's been badmouthing him constantly!
And, Murkowski and Republicans in Alaska need to realize that there are many, many Alaskans that will welcome President Obama with great joy and respect!
The only time I ever voted for a Republican was for Pete Wilson after he was Governor. I sent him to Washington because I figured as one of many he could do little harm.
ReplyDeleteAnd I was right.
He missed the most votes of any congressman, or he was right up there. He was a useless piece of shit but at least he wasn't harming the state as he was when he was governor of California.
Moron used to live just up the hill from me in some condominiums before he got ambitious, divorced his first wife and found one that would be a better political prop.
