Hillary Clinton deletes her e-mails, all of her e-mails, from her private server. Quick somebody fire up the GOP outrage machine!

All of the e-mails were deleted? Oops my bad.
Courtesy of CNN:

Hillary Clinton permanently deleted all the emails on the private server she used to do official business as secretary of state, the Republican lawmaker who subpoenaed the emails said late Friday.

Rep. Trey Gowdy of South Carolina, chairman of the House committee investigating the attacks on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, said Clinton's lawyer informed him of the news.

"Secretary Clinton unilaterally decided to wipe her server clean and permanently delete all emails from her personal server," Gowdy said in a statement.

Gowdy had also asked that Clinton turn over her server to the State Department inspector general for an independent review.

Clinton's lawyer, David Kendall, said no. In his letter to Gowdy, Kendall said the former secretary of state "chose not to keep her non-record personal emails."

"Thus, there are no ... e-mails from Secretary Clinton's tenure as secretary of state on the server for any review, even if such review were appropriate or legally authorized," he wrote.

Clinton's lawyer further maintained that all of work related, or potentially work related e-mails had all been turned over to the state department last year.  Which in no way is going to satisfy the Republicans who are convinced that Clinton is hiding something from them.

Once again I find myself understanding both sides.

On the one side it seems perfectly reasonable for people to assume that if Clinton had nothing to hide she would have no problem turning over her private server to a trusted third party to have it examined for anything that might be of use to the House investigating committee.

On the other hand this is like the third committee to investigate Clinton over Benghazi and there is really little doubt that they would have found something, no matter how small, to use against her in 2016, eve if it had NOTHING to do with Benghazi or their investigation.

Hillary remembers all too well that it was the Whitewater investigation, which led to Monica Lewinsky, a stained blue dress, and the impeachment of her husband.

Let's face it Gowdy is under enormous pressure to find something, and it is almost certain that he would have. Whether it was really there or not.

I have to say that as much as this leaves a sour taste in my mouth I am not sure that Hillary had much of a choice.

But let's not forget: IF there were any incriminating emails to or from Hillary, then the sender(s) or recipient(s) of such emails should still have a copy.

I think it's more about personal emails than incriminating emails. Maybe the recipient is who is being protected.

Good for her for deleting them

Sarah Palin did the same thing, saying that any of her personal Yahoo emails that were sent to state employees would have been retained.

Anonymous 1:24, not it's not the same thing. While every republican secretary of state and every republican governor (and every republican running for president, including Jeb Bush) has deleted all their emails, they did not first hand over all the emails in question to a governing body or investigating committee. Only Hillary has done this. Moreover, she has publicly requested that the State Department release and make publicly available all its emails from her. Thus, only Hillary, and not any GOPster, has made their emails publicly available. But, reality and logic are anathema to GOPsters, who are of course now falsely accusing Hillary of destroying documents. How can a person be guilty of destroying documents when they have already released all the documents in question, and when there is no proof, not even a scintilla, that documents subject to the request once existed, but no longer exist, and that that is due to document destruction on the requestee's part? There is a reason why Hillary had a whole team of lawyers separate her official emails from her personal ones, and why the official ones were then turned over.

And as for Hillary's personal emails (probably mostly to Chelsea and Bill), those are absolutely NONE of Congress's business, period.

This whole stink is solely a fishing expedition for the sole purpose of tainting Bill Clinton, and thus Hillary Clinton, by implication, and Hillary was smart enough to know this. The GOPsters are just dying to taint the Clinton Global Initiative Foundation (Bill and Chelsea), and thus Hillary by implication, and Hillary is having no part of it. Her allegedly private server, by the way, has been guarded by Bill's Secret Service agents all this time, hardly a case of an 'unsecured, unsafe' server.

I am certain that if the roles were reversed Democrats would be screaming for these emails. I don't trust Hillary and this adds to it. Imagine if Dick Cheney had a bunch of communiques about Iraq that he could pick and choose to share. regardless, doesn't the Government have a copy of all our emails in Utah anyway?

No sour taste in my mouth. Trey Gowdy doesn't like it? Tough luck, suck on it! Republicans got away with it in the White House when KKKarl Rove used a personal server during the Scooter Libby investigation. How do you like that for false equivalency?

Clinton made an enormous mistake by keeping her personal e-mails on the same server. That's what she told us she did, and we must believe her....

But you know that the GOP would scour her personal e-mails to find messages to her daughter, or candid thoughts about politics, or financial information, no matter how tiny or unrelated.

There is, I've come to believe, "a vast right-wing conspiracy," and it's aimed not just at Clinton, but at any Democrat, progressive, or non-"christian." We all must help fight it. So I'm reluctantly in her corner on this one.

She may have made a mistake commingling her personal emails, but it was not illegal, and that is the sole issue: illegality. The issue is not: was it a 'mistake'? The issue is solely: was it legal?, and it was.

What I have learned is that Hillary is far from alone. All kinds of government officials from Governors to Congressmen to former Secretaries of State have used personal email to communicate.

They all need to stop. Official emails need to be on state or federal government servers.

The server Hillary used was far more secure than the server at the State Department, which has been hacked more than once (including in recent weeks – presumably by GOPster hacks??? You know, the James O'Keefe wing of the GOPster party??? JMO).

  8. She says she has turned over all of the work-related emails.
The republicans have been poring over all of her emails for years without finding anything incriminating. She has been considered guilty without any evidence at all for years. There is no reason to doubt her in my opinion.

She says now that she has deleted all of her emails off of her personal servers and that they were personal emails only.

I have no problem with this because the republicans have zero, absolutely zero interest in ensuring that government employees are carrying out their responsibilities in an ethical, conscientious, honest, and competent way. Their only, and I mean only, interest in Clinton's emails is in finding something, anything, that no matter how trivial or meaningless they can blow into a campaign-destroying scandal.

They have spent millions upon millions of taxpayer dollars on this quest already and as far as I am concerned, they should be limited to spending RNC campaign funds from now on.

Their committees are not pursuing the national interest, but a purely partisan interest in winning the next election. Fuck them.

As for Clinton, she has been the target of republicans since 1992. I don't blame her for finally saying screw you, these are my personal emails and you don't get to see them. What's next? Will they demand that she strip naked for a body cavity search on the House floor, so that every sick, twisted fucking teabagger can preen and smirk and collect sound bites for their next campaign, proving that they bravely attacked the Clinton Monster?

In the mean time, they do nothing, absolutely nothing, in the way of actually legislating, governing, or trying to serve the country. Fuck them all, especially every last gummint hating teabagger that having been elected, is going to do everything they can to hang on to those sweet, sweet government dollars.

Sarah Palin: Americans who join ISIS should lose citizenship

Message to would-be ISIS recruits: Sarah Palin doesn’t want you back. The former Alaska governor and current media firebrand said in a Facebook post Friday that Americans who leave the country to join a foreign terrorist organization should be stripped of their citizenship.

“As crazy as it sounds, a U.S. citizen who leaves this country to join ISIS, al Qaeda, or any other terrorist organization does not immediately lose his or her citizenship,” Palin wrote in the post. “That needs to change!”

    http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2015/03/sarah-palin-americans-who-join-isis-should-lose-citizenship/

HELLLLOOOOO SARAH PALIN WHAT ABOUT THE CURRENT AND FORMER MEMBERS OF THE ALASKA INDEPENDENCE PARTY WHO SEEKED TO SEPARATE ALASKA FROM THE UNION?

SARAH PALIN YOU FORGOT ABOUT THOSE DOMESTIC TERRORISTS.

OH WHAT ABOUT THOSE ALASKA INDEPENDENCE PARTY SYMPATHIZERS WHO WELCOMED THOSE TRAITORS TO ORGANIZE AND PLAN THE SEPARATION OF ALASKA FROM THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA? I'M TALKING ABOUT THE STATE POLITICAL LEADERS LIKE THE ALASKA STATE GOVERNOR WHO PERSONALLY WELCOMED AND ENCOURAGED THEIR CONVENTION IN HER STATE?

SARAH PALIN SHOULD ALL THOSE TRAITORS, DOMESTIC TERRORISTS AND SYMPATHIZERS LOSE THEIR CITIZENSHIP?

REAL AMERICANS SAYS GET THOSE TRAITORS OUT OF HERE.

I wonder what country Ms Carabooboo thinks might then grant them citizenship and then issue them a passport? And by the way, why would we WANT them living in a different country, far from the reach of our prosecutors, when we can prosecute them here and keep them 'under the prison' for the rest of their lives??? What is the/her motive for wanting them to get off Scot-free??? It's the same insanity as with Bowe Berghdal: why do the righties want him to stay in Afghanistan, far from the reach of a US military brig, when we proved that we could bring him home and then throw him in the brig afterward, perhaps/probably for the rest of his life? Look, righties, just because the photo of Bowe's parents expressing their gratitude to President Obama upset your tummies, is no reason to adopt a position that is contrary to the interests of the protection of the American people. After all, Bowe staying forever in Afghanistan, a country whose language he spoke, reaaaalllllly gives me the creeps. Don't we have enough problems with Afghan terrorists? Or does the right wing want us to legitimize the Americans who stupidly choose to join them? Yes, right wingerism IS a mental illness, and its positions will always result in harm to the righties' fellow American citizens.

And so did Mitt Romney, who not only destroyed all the emails he was required to keep as governor of Massachusetts, but DESTROYED THE HARD DRIVE AS WELL. One standard for me, another standard for thee. It's the GOPster motto, doncha know?

During the interview Hillary gave at the UN about the e-mails,she said she had used the private server that Bill also used. That may be part of the reason republicans want the server so badly. If they can't find anything that sticks to Hillary, they will try for another Bill scandal. Whether there is one there or not. Why has Monica shown up again? Last time anyone heard from her, was when Hillary was running against Obama.

This targeted faux e-mail outrage is so obviously "get Hillary". The republicans and the media have left Mitt (of the removed all the hard drives from computers fame), Jeb (released e-mails with other peoples ss# etc and used a private account), Perry (ordered deletion of all e-mails after 7 days as routine during his term as governor - no FOIA for him),Colin Powell (who set up the private system for Sec of State) Walker, etc alone on their e-mail misadventures.

Hillary is far from toast. The righties have been saying she is toast since 1992, and have been single-handedly out to get her all these years. Ignoring them completely, she went on to become the first woman senator elected from New York state (twice!), and Secretary of State, in addition to writing another best-selling book. She is respected literally all over the world, and has repeatedly, for several years, been the winner of the survey that asks the question, "which American woman do you respect the most?" Her husband runs a foundation that has raised literally several hundreds of BILLIONS of dollars (that's billions, with a b, not millions, with an m) that go to help impoverished people all over the world. Despite his fling with Monica, he, too, is respected on an international level. I can't imagine the size of their combined rolodexes – and combined ability to fund-raise. Wowee! And (unlike the famous republican dynastic family, the Bushes) none of this occurred because either one of them was born into a wealthy family: no, each of them attained their positions in life on their own merits, working extremely hard every step of the way. No WONDER the righties are in a jealousy snit.

But I'll tell you what IS toast. And that is right-wing hate-ism. The people of this country, other than the perpetually angry and willfully ignorant right-wingers, have had it 'up to here' with right-wing craziness. Even the righties' own children have 'had it': they are leaving the faith and right-wing politics in huge percentages – 70%, last I read. Hate. and. hypocrisy. do. not. sell. well. with children.

Believe me, Hillary is not the problem with the righties. Losing their own children is/will be the problem with righties. By obsessing with minding everyone else's business, they have lost sight of what is happening under their own roofs. I am a Christian (but not a rightie, and neither was Jesus) and must confess: I see very, very few non-dysfunctional families among teavangelicals. In fact, I have to say that after over 30 years of close observation, that almost all of their families are seriously, drastically, almost sick-o dysfunctional. That kind of scenario will not make for any kind of domestic happiness or tranquility, let alone any kind of meaningful family legacy. Everyone else looking at the righties can see this: they are absolutely the butt of jokes nationwide, on a daily basis. But apart from the laughing (and they supply loads of laugh material to all the rest of us), there is an enormous tragedy of their own making that will eventually destroy everything meaningful in their lives.

I agree with most of your comments on righties. But in spite of that, they kicked butt this last election. You aren't reading the mood of the country very well.

Obamacare was the nail in the coffin. Sure they people who get it for a reduced rate and with pre existing conditions love it. But the part of the country that's paying for it despises it.

New York is not the whole country. You'll find that out in the next election. There is a big anybody but Hillary contingent who will turn out to see that she's not elected. And it's not just Republicans. Check out the comments on The Mudflats Blog. Much more realistic liberals there.
