I am sure it is just a coincidence.

Each area has its issues. The NE has a lot of prejudice. (there is more than one kind). The NE has a lot of homelessness. The NW has a lot of drugs (though that's everywhere). California has no redeeming qualities. Illinois is corruption central, the country's most corrupt place.

People just love to attack MS and say there's nothing good about it. Well, the same can be said by anyone about any place.

    Just think about that fact.

Do you have a link backing that statement up? I mean a link other than Limbaugh, Palin, or Faux Noise?

    4. California has redeeming qualities?
You mean like F O O D grown for our people, or the wines, the coastline provides seafood and endless beauty ... and to top it off while your sitting in your basement think harder, because pretty much everything you've seen at the movies from the beginning of movie time, has come from CALIFORNIA!

I think instead i will consider the fact that your statements about Illinois and California are false and stupid.

Bristol is still pissed off because she didn't make it in California.

Every area has issues, but what the maps show is that ONE area has many more, and more serious issues than the rest of the country.

      Just think about that fact.

But but but but Bible Belt! God loves him his Bible Belt people. He wouldn't betray them by keeping them enslaved, stupid, poor and obese, would he? Those figures can't be right. Some fancy book-readers made all that shit up. And them there book readers voted for that Muslim socialist that hates 'Merica, too.

    1. If those enslaved, stupid folk in the south see this -- they will only think, "We're No. One." We can't win in the battle for rational acceptance of facts. What can we do?

I keep seeing a thick plastic bubble around the Republican/fundamentalist sitting inside, oblivious to the shouting we are doing.

Interesting that Catholics aren't included. But of course those others don't consider RCs to be Christian. And at least up here in the new frozen north (New England) people send kids to Catholic schools because the academic standards are higher than the local public schools. And they do teach real science.

Speaking for Massachusetts, we teach "real science, and extensive laboratory classes and trips to the local 4-year college for even more scientific instruction.
Paorchial schools are one answer but public school are strong and not faith-based.
Just look at the Mass HS graduates that go on to top-tier collges.

Fact: the Bible belt still has de facto segregate public schools, to which they give little money and less attention.

The Reconstruction era should have whalloped the Confederate foes, and outlawed Jim Crow from the start. We're still living post-Civil war. the end result of their race-bait Secesscion lies.

  5. This is fascinating, Gryphen. Where did you find this chart? Could you post a link? Sometimes I think we should have just let the South secede. But I know that's wrong; we'd have become a land of small "countries".

Here's an hysterical Onion piece, "The South Postpones Rising Again". Says most of the things the charts you posted do. http://www.theonion.com/articles/south-postpones-rising-again-for-yet-another-year,377/
