Wasilla resident's awesome response to Senator Inhofe's snowball argument against climate change.

I have little doubt that most of you remember James Inhofe's ridiculous argument against climate change last week.

Well one of our Wasilla residents (No not THAT one.) has written a rather eloquent, and factual response.

I have met Bill Hess, in fact until a few years ago he was a fellow Alaskan blogger.

He is a good guy, and he, of course, knows what he is talking about when it comes to how climate change has effected those of us in what used to be the frozen north.

Mr. Hess, that is exquisitely expressed! Thank you.

Unfortunately, despite the eloquence of Mr. Hess' slap, the idiot in question will probably never even hear of this letter - and if he does, perhaps through some office cleric's mistake, he won't believe it. These fools never do.

They CAN'T change their tunes due to their income from the oil companies and other oil supporters.

I, at this point, am merely hoping I can live long enough to see stupid people like this literally thrown out of office. Should I live long enough to see it, I will die a happy man.

Unfortunately, I think I won't see it - and I feel sorry for those being born today. What's the line from that song? "Paved paradise to make a parking lot."

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to start a long discussion about where it came from. The important point I wanted to get across was the SENTIMENT in the line.

The song itself has been done quite a few times by several artists.

Yes, great response. Ignorant people trot out that same line every year over what they erroneously call 'global warming.' I've even read Sarah Palin making similar ignorant statements, going so far as to mention Al Gore. Folks, it's not 'global warming.' Ok? It's global climate change. Get it? Where I live, the weather has changed dramatically. It's much colder in the winter and very much hotter in the summer. But the knuckle draggers say this same crap that the senator said - every year. They just don't get it and they cling to their idiotic myths. They despise science and everyone associated with higher education so much it blinds them.

And the impetus for much of this winter's extreme weather has been the warmer-than-usual oceans, both Pacific (pushing the jet stream farther north) and the Atlantic (taking storms that reach the ocean and pushing them north and west back onto land). And the warming oceans and rising sea levels are not going to go away. Congress had better wake up to what is happening. No more snowball stunts, GOP. Republicans were so anxious to be in charge; let's see them agree to do something positive and right for a change.

  4. Yeah, prop comedy is really more of an 80's thing but I can say without risk of argument that the Hon. Senator James Inhofe is literally the Carrot Top of the American political system.

Since the story is about crazy ass Republicans,

Justice Scalia trashes how the Obamacare law was written.

Hey Justice Scalia, you mean like 50 states writing anti Same Sex Marriage laws into their constitutions at the urging of religious institutions and the laws have been found unconstitutional? How'd that work for you, Asshat?

I really miss Bill's blog. I felt like I knew his family...rejoiced at the births of their grandchildren and worried over his health issues. I felt like I lost a friend when he closed down his blog.

Me too! It was one of the sane things in Wasilla during the "monsters" reign! He showed us the nice things in the area. First thing I turned to in the morning. Trains and cats and school buses and steel cut oatmeal and crows and kids sleeping in baskets and real Alaskans! And snow! And sweet Margie.

That's an excellent letter. One of your senators should read it on the floor of the Senate. Do you think that either of them cares enough about planet Earth to take this on?

  10. I particularly miss The Dish. I've been searching for a replacement --- so far nothin' of such breadth or depth.

If anybody has any kind of replacement for it, give us a link.

Even with Andrew's religious Sunday posts that went on and on, his was still the best compilation of world events to watch on line.
I even got one of my emails to him posted! (And a personal email from him just before Obama was elected. Andrew had proof that Obama read his blog. Good times.)

Gryph -- You are my go-to guy now. Stay well! ....no pressure...

Me too. I like the elegant prose of Wickersham's Conscience (in Gryphen's blogroll) but he posts daily at most. I miss the Dish, morning, noon and night (and yes on Sundays, when his religion columns were written with intelligence and humility).

  11. Jim Inhofe, Head of Committee on Environment and Public Works. What a GD embarrassment. how, by virtue of being a climate denier, can he be allowed to hold his position?
Seniority should not be the only thing necessary in order to hold a chairmanship. The ability to critically think along with knowledge of the Discipline should be required.
Or is that too much to ask.

To be fair, is there ANY Republican who is qualified to run a committee with the word 'environment' in its name?

      Or 'science'?

      Or 'finance'?

      Or 'intelligence'?

No wonder the old-palin doesn't need to move to Arizona to warm up. Didn't she change her tune recently & said Alaska was her home? And here I thought she went back to Wasilla since she figured out she wasn't wanted in AZ & she changed her mind about trying to run for office in AZ. HA!

A Petition Has Been Launched To Prosecute and Expel John Boehner From Congress

...This week, a MoveOn.org petition began circulating for the purpose of prosecuting Speaker of the House John A. Boehner for willfully breaking a federal law when he knowingly violated the 216 year-old Logan Act. The petition demands that Boehner, “by law must now be tried by Congress, and forced to resign.” However, according to 18 U.S.C. § 953 (Logan Act), by violating....

The petition accurately claims that by “directly commencing and carrying on correspondence with an officer of a foreign government (Netanyahu) with intent to influence or defeat the measures of the United States,” Boehner broke a federal law. It also is correct that Boehner attempted to deal in foreign policy to usurp the powers of the presidency of the United States thus violating the “separation of powers” in the U.S. Constitution. But the only prosecutable crime is “corresponding with an agent of a foreign government with the intent to influence or defeat the measures of the United States” according to the Logan Act. The petition is to be “to be delivered to The United States House of Representatives, The United States Senate, and President Barack Obama.”.....

His photography is powerful especially when documenting the traditions of those who live in rural villages today.
