CNN's Wolf Blitzer gets the tables turned on him during interview with Baltimore community organizer about riots.

Courtesy of Crooks and Liars:   "You want peaceful protests, right?" Blitzer began his interview by asking McKesson.

"Yes," McKesson replied, after being momentarily taken aback by obvious nature of the question. "Remember, the people that have been violent since August have been the police. When you think about the 300 people that have been killed this year alone. Like that is violence."

McKesson agreed that the property damage in Baltimore on Monday night had been unfortunate, but he urged Blitzer to remember that there had been "many days of peaceful protests here in Baltimore City and places all around the country."

"But at least 15 police officers have been hurt, 200 arrests, 144 vehicle fires -- these are statistics," Blitzer countered, robotically reading a police press release. "There's no excuse for that kind of violence, right?"

"Yeah, and there's no excuse for the seven people that the Baltimore City Police Department has killed in the last year either, right?" McKesson shot back. "We're not making comparisons," Blitzer stuttered. "Obviously, we don't want anybody hurt. But I just want to hear you say that there should be peaceful protests, not violent protests in the tradition of Dr. Martin Luther King."

"Yeah, there's should be peaceful protests," the community organizer replied. "And I don't have to condone it to understand it, right? The pain that people feel is real."

"And you are making a comparison," McKesson added. "You are suggesting this idea that broken windows are worse than broken spines, right?"

Gee Blitzer could you work a little harder to hide the fact that you are a completely out of touch white dude working for a giant corporation that is terrified of incidents like this?

As it turned out last night was quite calm, in comparison to the night before and even CNN only had this to report:Police arrested two people for looting and one for disorderly conduct, Police Commissioner Anthony Batts said. But most of the 10 arrests made after the 10 p.m. curfew were for curfew violation.

The local residents also came out to take back control of their streets before the curfew went into affect,  some even taking up positions to act as a buffer between potential troublemakers and the police.

In fact today Hillary Clinton came out to express her own frustration with what is taking place on the streets of America and to call for mandatory police cameras.

Courtesy of CNN:

"As a citizen, a human being, my heart breaks for these young men and their families," Clinton said, listing a number of incidents in the last year that have found black men killed at the hands of law enforcement. "We have to come to terms with some hard truths about race and justice in America."

She continued: "We have allowed our criminal justice system to get out of balance and these recent tragedies should galvanize us to come together as a nation to find out balance against."

......

"We should make sure that every police department in the country has body cameras to record interaction between offices on patrol and suspects, that will improve transparency and accountability it will help protect good people on both sides of the lens," Clinton said, calling for body cameras to be the "norm everywhere."

I think that is the right message for this time, and I imagine several GOP presidential contenders will join her. Though to be fair Rand Paul is already there.

For Rand Paul to talk about Parenting in Baltimore when his son was recently arrested for crashing into a parked car while DUI is the pot calling the kettle black. Not to mention that Paul's son argued with the Police, but was not handled like a Black Offender, he was just cited and allowed to go home.

And don't forget, Rand's same son assaulted an airline employee and disrupted a flight and got a slap on the wrist also. Apparently Rand's son has a severe alcohol issue that Rand needs to "parent" him on.

Frankly, Blitzer is an idiot and an embarrassment in general and should retire, effective immediately. I actually don't think he was pushing an agenda, he probably even thought he was doing a good thing by getting this guy on the record publicly saying the protests should be non-violent.

The problem is simply that he is a clueless moron and should not be in a position of informing the populace about anything.

In an unusually impassioned speech, Hillary Rodham Clinton delivered a pointed assessment of race in America on Wednesday, lamenting the recent deaths of young black men and calling for overhauling the “out-of-balance” criminal justice system on display on the smoke-filled streets of Baltimore.

In her first major policy speech since announcing her presidential run, Mrs. Clinton spoke forcefully about the damage done, ticking off the names of the unarmed African-American men who have died at the hands of white police officers in recent months.

“From Ferguson to Staten Island to Baltimore, the patterns have become unmistakable and undeniable,” she said.

I think there are a bunch of dirty cops in Baltimore based on the suits that have been filed against them and they've paid in the millions of dollars. (FACT) The black young kids living there don't and didn't have a chance as is the same in many others cities across America! They are amongst the very poor and have no jobs to find after graduating from high school. This problem needs to be rectified or we will have another major civil war and then who is going to be to blame? And, it's NOT President Obama!

Greed is now the American way. You've got yours sister and fuck everyone else. And I've got news for you too baby - the rest of America is being dragged down, and it is not by the people of Baltimore. It is by your capitalistic society and by the cops in Baltimore who have run roughshod over citizens for decades.

If you think the rest of the world isn't aghast at what is happening in your *exceptional* country - then think again.

Rome fell and the USA is on a downward spiral. That's if climate change doesn't kill you first.

Anon. 1:47, are you suggesting there is no oppression/discrimination/injustice going on in the Baltimore Police Dept.?

Who are ‘these people’ that apparently have to ‘earn’ the respect of police officers?

When I encounter a police officer, I expect s/he will respect me and my rights, I don't have to 'earn' it. I also expect they will give you or anyone the same respect and uphold those same rights.

I expect the police to treat everyone in a uniform way under like circumstances according to existing law.

There are people in Baltimore, however, who are claiming that the police are not doing that, are not treating everyone equally.

That’s the real story, not the stupid opportunistic looters taking gross advantage of this situation, which the media tends to focus on (because it makes for exciting TV!).

So, while I will not be in the business of making excusing for the looters, the underlying problems still remain, and it doesn’t help to call some nebulous, undefined group of people ‘these people’ when discussing the issue.

Marvin, that is quite a long rant totally off-course.

'Respect' was in no way inferring respect from police. It is more general, anyone expecting respect of fellow man, cannot expect it if they don't act respectfully themselves and towards others.

These demonstrations and protests are a folly. Everyone knows before they even start that they are going to turn into riots. Of course Baltimore was going to get looted and burn, there was never any doubt, just like Ferguson... where two 'protesters' got shot last night... supposedly in 'solidarity' with Baltimore.

      What a joke.

No, 3:18, you use code words and phrases as substitutes. We can't wait to call you on it.

You have an immature and ignorant (but unfortunately not rare) understanding of the causes of crime and violence among African Americans in our inner-cities.

4:56 an immature and ignorant understanding of crime,,,, lol.... I suppose you think it is all whiteys fault right? Especially republican whiteys fault right? That is your simple excuse.... And yet Baltimore, an ultra liberal city in a liberal state with a black democrat liberal female mayor, a black police commissioner, a high percentage of black policemen, and a black(ish) president... A liberals wet dream of utopia, check off all the boxes, should be roads paved with gold right? And yet this still breaks out, thought you liberals had this?

Yes, 7:31, you have an ignorant and immature understanding of race and crime. I happen to teach a course called exactly that (Race and Crime) and we discuss all kinds of interesting things about history and economics and psychology. A rational, intelligent, knowledgeable person understands there are many nuances when it comes to the causes of crime in our inner-cities. A developmentally-stunted person such as yourself thinks it has to be one group's "fault" vs another's.

I'm actually a professor and I teach lots of very useful courses in crime and justice, especially since the majority of my students are current or future police officers. I teach Race and Crime, Violence, Ethics, etc.. Don't you think our police force need to know a little bit about these things beyond the childish Black vs White crap that makes up your knowledge base?

Unfortunately us stupid non professor types don't understand nuances and serch, and certainly couldn't be as well healed in the ways of the world as someone who spends all their time in a classroom on a campus. O/T BALTIMORE — The Chicago White Sox and Baltimore Orioles are playing in one of the strangest televised sporting events ever, as Baltimore’s Camden Yards is hosting the game without fans.

Rioters and police have been clashing in Baltimore for the past few days, and on Tuesday the Orioles announced that Wednesday’s game would be “closed to the public” due to ongoing public safety issues. Demonstrations began after the death of 25-year-old Freddie Gray, who died from a severe spinal injury days after police arrested him.

Photos circulating online and from the broadcast show an eerie sight: Two teams playing in an almost completely empty stadium.
