Sen. Rand Paul's (R-Ky.) newly launched presidential campaign website, RandPaul.com, featured an unfortunate typo on its "education" issue page.
The spelling was corrected quickly Tuesday afternoon, as Paul was delivering his official presidential campaign announcement in Louisville, Kentucky.
"I believe that education is the great equalizer, but too often our one-size-fits-all system leaves most kids behind. The Federal Government should not dictate what happens in our local classrooms. I believe we must abolish Common Core and give control back to the states, localities and parents," Paul says on the issue page.
You know the positive thing about the "one size fits all approach to education" is that it teaches people to spell "education" correctly.
But that was not all that the Paul campaign offered up to critics and late night comedians, and Jon Stewart did not waste a moment in taking advantage of that:

And of course, as many of you know, video of the announcement was pulled from YouTube because during it they played a country western song (Of course.) without permission.
If that were not enough he threw a total conniption during his first real honest to goodness interview with the MSM after declaring his candidacy:
If Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) wants to be considered a serious presidential candidate, he's going to have to learn how to handle tough questions about his record without coming across as condescending.
That much was clear on Wednesday, the morning after the Kentucky Republican announced his bid for the White House, when he tussled with NBC "Today" show host Savannah Guthrie over his past positions on Israel, Iran and the defense budget.
"Why don't you let me explain instead of talking over me, OK?" Paul interjected, when Guthrie noted his shifting views. "Before we go through a litany of things you say I've changed on, why don't you ask me a question, 'Have I changed my opinion?' That would sort of be a better way to approach an interview."
"No, no, no, no, no, listen, you're editorializing," he told Guthrie.
Yeah it's always a good idea during an interview to explain to the journalist that they are conducting the interview incorrectly. That always comes off so well.
Now I knew that this campaign would eventually be FUBAR'd, but I have to admit that even I thought they might get through the first 24 hours without shooting themselves in the foot.
Nope.
The jerk has a 'short guy' attitude! He's an asshole and will never make it to the primaries! Betcha!
ReplyDeleteThere are too many things out there as to his 'records in life' that he'll have to answer...so, so many things! He'll never be able to handle them - has too short a fuse!
I was watching that interview with Guthrie and my jaw nearly hit the floor. What a condescending piece of shit. Salon or someone called it out as "mansplaining" and it was as prime an example as I've seen lately. He's been called out for this very thing before, so he should be hyper-aware of his tendency toward extreme douche-iness and work to control it. The fact that he seemed so comfortable in treating her like that speaks volumes for who this guy is. Thank goodness the Republicans hate him as much as progressives do!
ReplyDeleteDon't forget the flip-flops with his campaign logo available in his campaign store: https://store.randpaul.com/index.php/fun-stuff/rand-paul-flip-flops.html
ReplyDeleteFlip-flops. Smart move, dipshit.
That's comedy gold!
DeleteHe is doing better than Sarah Palin ever could or would. I bet Rand Paul can tell us what publications he reads.
ReplyDeleteOr plagiarizes from.
DeleteThat's not what I said!!# Maybe ? Unless That's what you wanted to hear? Otherwise that's not what I intended, possibly. Don't ask me questions that I have already answered. My response might have changed. Yes,I am a touchy moron.
ReplyDeleteHmm. Jon's segment was called "Legends of the Stall". I think that is a perfectly appropriate name for Republicans insofar as political tactics go.
ReplyDeleteFor a porn film, it's also a good name for a biopic about the lives of certain Republican senators who have a predilection for mensroom stalls.
Rand Paul is an ass.
ReplyDeleteD'oh!!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to him getting more and more interviews and then on to the debates. He's going to be more and more of an asshole as time goes by and he's questioned and challenged.
ReplyDeleteHe will just stop granting interviews with the "lame stream" media, like SP did.
DeleteAnd the interviews on the Today Show are pretty tame. A temper tantrum less than one day into his campaign! This guy shouldn't be allowed to play with others.
ReplyDeleteBeaglemom
Just wait until he's been on the campaign trail for months (if he lasts that long) and forced to eat rubber chicken, kiss those sticky-faced babies, shake thousands of poor people's hands, catch a couple of restless hours of sleep in some lumpy bed in a tiny town in Nebraska or South Dakota, and face a thousand more reporters asking dumb questions he's answered a hundred times before.
DeleteIf he's this bitchy on the first day, it's gonna get VERY ugly!
If you can't avoid the press, try and steamroll it. We'll see how that works out.
ReplyDeleteWhat a maroon... His ego has no boundaries. This man thinks he's the smartest one in the room; President Obama always is the smartest one in the room!
ReplyDeleteNext!
But is so cool (and smart), he doesn't have to be arrogant about it. And that's another reason he is so hated by the gop.
DeleteJust think of his mansplainin' as a kinder, gentler form of a good ol' curb stompin'.

Rand Paul Gets 'Testy' With Male AP Reporter On Abortion Rights
ReplyDeletehttp://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/rand-paul-ap-abortion-rights
I can't wait until he explodes under pressure.
Delete6:09, Randy's explosion under pressure will be better even than a Chris Christi explosion under pressure. Maybe not quite as messy, but it will be epic, as there is nothing better than seeing an asshole lose it like an asshole.
DeleteRand Paul luvs liberty...
ReplyDeleteexcept not legal marijuana, or gay marriage, or abortion rights or...
This is right out of the Koch-Heritage Foundation playbook: treat the press like interlopers, lesser beings who shouldn't be given a chance to ask a question, much less to follow up on one.
ReplyDeleteThey do it all the time when they can -- talk over the interviewer, ignore the reporter's question, pretend that there's no equality between the candidate and the reporter (representative of the people). When that doesn't work, slam the reporter as being biased.

Thanks for the link -- great article.
DeleteBut as Rand Paul launches his presidential campaign, questions linger about how long his cadre of advisers and operatives will last under the merciless glare of the national stage. "They are in such a bubble in this Rand Paul universe, and I think the bubble's going to pop real quick in the heat of the primaries," says the conservative strategist familiar with the Pauls and their allies. "They are not ready for prime time."
Just add Rand Paul to the Crooks R Us PAC...

ReplyDeleteGryphen, Sarah supposedly canceled her NRA speech!
ReplyDeleteSarah pulled out of the Cambridge Union speech scheduled for March 2nd. Now cancels the NRA gig two days before her appearance on April 10th.
DeleteWhat gives?
Maybe Track is returning from rehab?? He's been MIA for about two months.
When was Sarah's last public appearance?
DeleteWas it at CPAC on February 26th??
When was the last time she was on Fox News?
I think it was on January 27th with Hannity.

Did they run out of bendy straws?
DeleteWouldn't give her a free Uzi?
Refused to pay first class round trip airfare for the entire entourage?
And the poor Pee Pond thought that Sarah would announce her run at her NRA speech! Something is going on.

ReplyDeleteSarah Palin's Earthquake Movement shared a video.
3 hrs · Edited ·
The Political Earthquake PAC (who the Sarah Palin's Earthquake Movement supports) purchased a mobile billboard to be positioned outside the NRA Convention site. Here you go! It changes screens on both sides of the truck and on the back showing our panels in the video below. Click on the arrow to see both panels. It takes about 10 seconds for panels to rotate, so be patient, please. Music is being added to draw attention to the mobile billboard.
It is expected that there will be at least 70,000 visitors to the Convention and Governor Palin will be speaking there.
Way to go Earthquake Members! Please donate to our projects @ www.politicalearthquakepac.com We have two more upcoming! Thank you!
Insanity!
DeleteAnd Sarah's Earthquake Movement purchased a mobile billboard to put outside the convention center, are they ever going to get sick of wasting their money? HA HA!

ReplyDeleteThe Sea O Pee peeps are sniping at each other over the cancellation. It's utterly hilarious.
ReplyDeleteWow! Not only sexy, but smart, too! Someday he'll need the media in the worst way, and no one will cover him. How will people hear his resignation speech? Fox news? Sarah's facebook page? Smoke Signals?
ReplyDeleteHe's one of them liberty loving Goobersmoochers who thinks having people of color introduce him, will get him the people of color vote. I would love to see him try to pull off that shooshing bullshit with a real reporter like Tameryn Hall or Rachel, but we all know that ain't gonna happen.
What a little man. His wife may think he's the best thing since botox and hair bleach, but THIS woman doesn't see it.
Hurry, get your very own... https://store.randpaul.com/index.php/fun-stuff/rand-paul-flip-flops.html

The music for the campaign will be the "rand paul foot stomp". google it.
ReplyDeleteJust another repug with hoof in mouth disease. I am an independent and know there are better out there, why do they put there worst on display at the front.
ReplyDeleteDoes he even know what Common Core is? Common Core is a set of guidelines from which each STATE chooses what to teach. It is not a mandate. It is not required. It is nothing but a set of ideals and standards that would insure we have an educated populace. Oh the horrors! Why would we care whether kids in Alabama and Mississippi have the same core education as kids in Maine and Vermont? I mean, it's not like the GOP wants a country full of educated voters after all. No, then they might become real journalists who ask basic questions of candidates. Maybe Rand should just refuse interviews with women (except on Fox.) He didn't do well with Rachel, and now Savannah. Has Katie had a chance to ask him about his college days yet? Poor baby.
