Senator Dianne Feinstein on deal with Iran: "It's a better agreement, candidly, than I thought it was ever going to be."

Courtesy of the Washington Post:

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (Calif.), the top Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee, said the nuclear framework deal with Iran was better than she had anticipated, and she criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's call for continuing sanctions on Iran.

Under the framework deal announced last week, Iran agreed to restrictions on nuclear facilities and to international inspections. Feinstein noted that the inspection of Iran's mines, mills, facilities and other elements of its nuclear supply chain would last up to 25 years. The surveillance and inspections are key, she said.

"It's a better agreement, candidly, than I thought it was ever going to be. I think that it can be a very serviceable, practical agreement, and it can signal a new day," Feinstein said on CNN's "State of the Union" on Sunday. "Otherwise, we keep this dynamic going, which is not productive of anything that's positive for the region."

Feinstein also said this on CNN yesterday:

CNN "State of the Union" host Jim Acosta asked Feinstein Sunday morning whether she believes the deal threatens Israel's survival.

"No, I don't," she replied.

"I don't think it's helpful for Israel to come out and oppose this one opportunity to change a major dynamic, which is downhill -- a downhill dynamic in this part of the world," Feinstein continued.

Senator Feinstein is herself Jewish, and certainly no fan of Iran, so for her to come out this strongly for the deal with Iran, and so strongly against Netanyahu's rhetoric, I think is pretty powerful .

Why is it not treasonous for our elected Congresspersons to openly collude with Israel's Bibi Netanyahu when it comes to US diplomatic policy?

Why is diplomacy undermined by specific individuals who seek to thwart President Obama's administration in carrying out the duties of the Executive branch of our government?

    1. It is.

A better question is why those 47 traitors weren't rounded up, arrested, indicted and incarcerated awaiting trial. They committed espionage against our government by colluding with Israeli spies on top of violating the Logan Act.

Boy, they are lucky *I* am not president. I would not be as forgiving or generous as our current Commander in Chief.

As for why? Easy. Because he's black. They have NEVER gotten over that. If he had been a white Democratic president he would not have gotten half the grief he's gotten from the Republicans.

No one can convince me they are not the party of racism and bigotry. They are the party of hate, plain and simple. They hate everything and everyone except money and those that have a lot of it.

I knew it was a decent deal when Cotton's letter was sent, co-signed by 47 senators.

I knew it was a decent deal when Cotton's letter was sent …

The letter was sent March 9th. The deal wasn't arrived at until April 2nd, more than three weeks later. The writer's memory appears to be playing tricks.

We are rapidly earning a place in history,as a country of idiots.

Senator Feinstein is awesome always! I'm proud she is my Senator. However, being Jewish means many things. Is she Jewish by faith, by ethnicity, both, by marriage? It may not be on her radar at all or it may be a deep commitment.

  5. You know if Feinstein is for it, the Republicans will be against it.

    Doesn't matter what it is.

The fact Obama and Kerry brokered this deal will just entrench them further.

The only way this will get signed is if Congress is left out of approval. Informed yes. But not part of the approval process.

Mrs Feinstein also came out against Netanyahoo's rant. I've always liked her but a few months back she seemed to get mushy on us. Glad to see she's got her feistiness back. I saw her on a clip on morning joe and was pleasantly surprised.
