Listen to these Fundamentalists explain their feelings about the Bible and their views on Evolution.

"If somewhere within the Bible, I were to find a passage that said two plus two equals five, I wouldn't question what I'm reading in the Bible. I would believe it, accept it as true, and then do my best to work it out to understand it."

That may be one of the most chilling things I have ever heard. And it goes a long, long way to explain why it is so hard to reason with religious people about science, climate change, and separation of church and state.

"To think that I had no communication with God would be so devastating--I can't even imagine adopting such a view; just to make peace with Darwin."

In other words these people MUST reject any evidence that proves Evolution is a fact or else risk their faith in the "fact" that God cares about them and is listening to their prayers.

And they are so convinced that their reliance on faith is better than living a fact based existence, that they are driven to indoctrinate everybody else. Including Darwin.

"I would love to invite Mr. Darwin and others who feel just like him to try God. And see the transformation for themselves."

Apparently that persons was unaware that Charles Darwin had at one time studied to be a member of the clergy, before being distracted by the wonders of the natural world.

She also seems to be unaware that he is dead.

And speaking of death, fear of death seems to be the underlying theme that pushes these people toward their faith. They seem to truly believe that if their faith is strong enough they can cheat death.

And it is that possibility, however remote, which forces them to reject any science which might burst that comforting bubble.

What a sad and frightening existence.

Lots of circular arguments, but my favorite how does evolution deal with death....... blah, blah, blah.
As a non-believer I have to say idea of death is not scary at all. The possible pain & suffering prior to it is. Death is the end of pain and that is not such a bad thing. Why be afraid of it, it comes to all.

I watched the clip. A couple of observations.

Evolution is a scientific theory. It doesn't have family so death is just a part of life.

The look in everyone's eyes who commented scared the crap out of me.

It is obvious to me that reality is far away from their perception of the world.

The kids at the end were the most irritating. Their self justified 'we are the persecuted class and you will all burn forever because you aren't in our club' made me both angry and sad. Angry at their hubris and sad because their bubble will pop. They always do and usually at the worst time.

Christ prophesied that if you stubbornly talk like a fool, people will mock you..... How did he know? See, that proves Jesus is God!

Darwin was a Christian dumkoffs. He read the bible just like them.

BTW, also remember that they were taught unbending authority from babies on upward. Some of their child rearing books are awful. I have a family member who has them and have looked them over. Punishing babies provides an almost built in reflex of obedience in everything.

  7. Sorry - didn't watch the video. There are enough poorly educated people in this area so I know the type.

By poorly educated I refer to those who have home schooling or attend private schools that espouse "the party line".

Any child that has not been given the opportunity to know people who have different cultures & beliefs, to me THAT is child abuse.

Those parents are hindering their children's natural curiosity and development as responsible adults. If you really loved your child why would you deny them the freedom to choose Why indoctrinate them in your beliefs? Sigh smh...

I'm guessing that Angel Dague can't even fathom a LOT of things. FWIW, 45 years ago in 1st grade the nuns taught us that the "7 Days" was an analogy that was told in a way that the people of the time could understand because they didn't know or understand how the earth was actually created, and since God's life had no beginning and no end it made no difference to God whether it took thousands or millions of years for us to evolve from a speck in the sea into humans, and we should expect to evolve further as time passes and the world changes.

Who are these people to question God's infinity? Non-believers who lie about believing. At least I'm up front enough to say "I don't have a clue about God and I don't care to know".

    1. Back in the early 70's when I was in Sunday School, we had a female teacher tell us that we didn't know how long a day was for God: that it could have been indeed millions of years. I doubt such teachers would make such an admission these days.

Funny isn't it that I have no problem with my belief in God and my belief in evolution. I think that the Biblical creation story is as valid as all of the other creation stories in the world. In fact, I think it is a tribute that so many people over time in so many different places cared so much about their place in the vast universe to make a story of how it all came to be. Much of it is beautiful poetry.

I'm also glad that Darwin and scientists before and since have explained so much. We should be far better off for understanding what really happened; all of the known facts also leave many questions which means that there is still much to learn. These young people have shut their minds down. Very sad.

A Louisiana state senator recently offered a puzzling rationale for why schools in the state should be allowed to teach creationism.

  11. The most cost effective means of keeping people in line is through the inculcation of fear, and every organized religion knows it as well as every government. Yet what substantial example of human progress was ever initiated by fear?

Bizarre reasoning. Saying it is truth because it is in the Bible is like saying it is truth because it is on the internet. All the adults presented life as having a caring god or an uncaring god. They didn't explore the possibility of NO god. Weird.

To stop critical thinking....it is the cornerstone of their power. Isn't it amazing that millions of sane people on this planet believe in different religions? I wonder how these kids on the video would explain the continuing earthquakes in Nepal...one of the poorest places on earth. Keep the children isolated and ignorant of other cultures while instilling fear & hate...Fox news is their partner, I have pity on all of them.

Usury is condemned in the Bible some twenty-five times. this holy dictum was followed in medevil times resulting in a jewish lending class. Now republicans want to repeal tammy Duchworth law stopping usure against our military. Hippo-critters.

    1. Already done. All states had and most still have usury laws. The Supreme Court made a ruling that meant if a credit card company operated from outside your state they could and do charge what they like. As you probably are aware all credit cards are issued from a few parasitic states that did away with their own usury laws to attract those companies in. We see the results, your state may have usury laws but they are trumped by the SC and their grateful clients.

Duggar family member: ‘All science’ points to creationism being true

    http://www.rawstory.com/2015/05/duggar-family-member-all-science-points-to-creationism-being-true/

Bonus Duggar Derp: Ain't no atheists either!

"Lisle explained to the 19 Kids and Counting star that atheists don’t really exist at all. “The evidence of God is ubiquitous. It is everywhere,” he told Seewald. “In fact, Roman 1 tells us that God has revealed himself to everyone, and what that means is, there is really no such thing as an atheist.”

People who identified themselves as atheists were suppressing their inner “hard-wired” knowledge of God, according to Lisle. "

"I would like to encourage MrDarwin and others like him to try god" Did that nutjob actually say that? Does she realize Darwin isn't among the living? They'd do my Aunt so proud, she's got that "Stepford Believers" glazed eye look. Her sister, a Catholic, died and she refused to go to The wake nor the church. I]m an atheist, so I don't have a cat in that fight, but she and her entire family showed up and partook in mass quantities at the dinner afterward, they tried to divide and conquer and proselytize, and my cousins had the Maitre D kick them out. "But but but, she was my sister" "OUT!"
    Everyone stood up an clapped.
I went to pay my respects, I didn't go to mock anyone nor partake in any sacrament nor "Catholic Aerobics". No one can convince me they aren't in a cult.

The guy who extrapolates that if we all came from animals, and God made us in his image, that would mean that God is an animal thinks he knocked it out of the park. So there! The smug look on his face is very telling.

WRT 2+2=5, my Dad and I got into a huge argument when I was about 13. At one point he said that if he says white is black and black is white, I have to believe him, because he's the dad. I'm afraid I didn't react very politely. I think the word "crazy" was tossed around, along with "you can't make me." I consider that date to be the genesis (pun intended) of my independence. I had already tried to break away from the Church, although my mother made me go to catechism until I was junior in high school.

BTW, Catholics taught that the Bible was an allegory and not literally true. That's why a lot of evangelicals do not consider Catholics to be real Christians.

If I'm not mistaken, Darwin was a believer until his daughter died. He didn't understand why God would take his child when he and his wife were believers and that is what lead him to doubt.
