Oh there's a word for it now. How convenient.

Let's face, it this has been going on for centuries if not longer.

TLC (The Lowlife Channel) needs to cancel this damn show. I'm sure they can find a family who can fire guns with their buttocks, or a group of circus clowns who run a brothel to fill the gap left by the Duggars.

Can you tell I'm extremely tired of the reality show genre?

NASA used to own TLC, until the GOP cut their funding and it turned into The Lowest Crap channel. Thanks, GOP. For so much that is wrong in this country.

I'm also sick of the reality shows and don't watch them. They are cheap to produce (compared to the many excellent dramas that used to be on TV...a few still are) and so phoney.

Also, I'm definitely no prude and am all for free speech, but I am sometimes offended by the popular comedies that are on at prime-time. Words and topics are now used for shock value. IMO, TV has changed rapidly for the worse in the last several years.

Agree with others that once upon a time TLC had informative programs. IMO, The History Channel has also deteriorated in its presentations.

I know I'm getting off topic, but as one who has the TV on all the time for background noise--there sure isn't much that's interesting (at least to me).

For over a year I have preferred Al Jazeera America for my news...it's channel 347 on Direct TV. Public TV and radio are always wonderful and I support them financially.

CNN has moved to the right and I can't stand the Sunday morning talk shows anymore. Thirty years ago I relied on those morning shows to keep me current on politics. Not any more!

      Thanks for letting me vent!

Well, you can always save some money and do what I did: DROP TV! If a large enough portion of the population did that, - and it doesn't need to be more than a few points - things might begin to change.

The best way to stop a practice is to hit the practitioners' wallets. Of course, it doesn't work unless you tell them WHY you are dropping the "service".

    Urban Dictionary has this...

Should be upgraded to your definition though...

Dan Savage wants to do to Josh Duggar what he did to Rick Santorum: redefine the man's last name.

On Tuesday, the writer and LGBT advocate called on his Twitter followers to help coin the new term based on the "19 Kids And Counting" star who was investigated for allegedly sexually molesting five underage girls, including several of his sisters, when he was a teen.

'Dan Savage wants to do to Josh Duggar what he did to Rick Santorum: redefine the man's last name.

'Clearly "duggary" needs to be a word. Should it mean sexual hypocrisy? Fundy hypocrisy? Child molestation? #duggary'

      Diggery, Doggery, Duggary-
With siblings was getting too huggery-
      Of scandals and scurrils
      Josh's victims were girls-
If boys it would have been buggery!

It is easier to remember things if they rhyme... and if you look at the origins of many Mother Goose poems, you understand how politics can be shredded in verse.

They are going to push the musical Willis family. Not as many kids but hey, they sing and play musical instruments. (I'm sure it's all Country western too.)

Let’s assume that the unnamed victim is 17-years-old today — though she may be younger. No matter when the abuse occurred, the girl could not have been any older than five.

It is currently 2015, and we know that one victim is still a minor. If the abuse occurred in 2003, Josh would have been 15, and she 5 at the maximum. If she was the victim in 2002, she would be 4 at most, and Josh 14.

    2015 – 2003 = 12 years. 17-12 = 5 years old if she is currently 17.

    2015 – 2002 = 13 years. 17-13 = 4 years old, once again, if she is currently 17.

There is absolutely no way a reasonable person can rationalize around a teenager sexually assaulting a 5-year-old (or even younger) child. None.

Yet this is what is happening, anyway.

THAT is why the coverup by the Duggars is so opprobrious.

They crow about how god has forgiven Josh, yet not one word about the lasting harm done to their daughters. :<

There is one unrelated girl who was molested, and probably more. JimBob told his cop buddy 'one child, one time, and she was clothed', yet the total is now FIVE. Like Cosby, the numbers mount, and like Cosby, Duggar preferred his victims unconscious and unresisting.

Yet, even if a daughter woke up and screamed, would either parent have come to help her?

This entire story is so disgusting.....so Republican. The ones that yell the loudest against gays and abortion are the biggest hypocrite offenders. The entire Duggar family gives me the creeps but I do feel sorry for the victims..the young sisters who carry that burden of silence. One can only imagine the other secrets in that family. Reality TV in general is pathetic, if you have time to watch it you need a better life.

I just want to point out the perfection of this cartoon, by Mike Lukovich at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution newspaper. He is one of the old-school political cartoonists, fearless and unapologetic, in the tradition of the late Etta Hulme who died just last year. She poked every sacred cow in sight during her 35+ years at the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, no less. We need to treasure these cartoons for the small, powerful frames of humor and truth they really are!

    Duggers and Dominionism....AND Palin

    http://www.patheos.com/blogs/nolongerquivering/2009/11/christian-dominionism-part-1-the-ties-that-bind-extremist-politics-to-christian-patriarchy/

"... I decided to write this series in order to disabuse readers of the notion that this there is anything remotely harmless about the seemingly apolitical politics of this movement. It is in fact a dangerous—and alarmingly effective—political force. The unsavory political entanglements of the extreme Christian Right are too often downplayed on reality programs that popularize the lifestyle. ...."

"...In this era of Christian Right ascendancy, there are at least three names that those of us who remain committed to transparent democratic processes should know: RJ Rushdoony (intellectual father of Christian Dominionism), Bill Gothard (Quiverfull’s figurehead for stealth political organizing), and Erik Prince (CEO of Xe—formerly Blackwater—and the first Christian Dominionist to amass a private army capable of successfully overthrowing a government). The rest of the posts in this series will show what each of these men is about and shed light on this often dismissed—but increasingly powerful—fringe minority. It appears as though TLC will continue to romanticize the Quiverfull lifestyle for the foreseeable future, and it’s up to those of us who know better to shed a brighter light on its politics.

TLC can forget any show with the name Duggar attached in any way. It's dead.
