Oh crap I'm on the same side as Rand Paul again!

Courtesy of the Daily Beast:

The Kentucky Republican is sponsoring legislation called the “Transparency for the Families of 9/11 Act,” which would force the release of the disputed pages. With his support, an important issue that has languished far too long may be finally gaining traction.

Paul is a big catch for the 28 pages movement, as advocates describe their effort. Former Florida senator Bob Graham, who has been banging the drum on the classified pages for years, will appear alongside Paul at a press conference at the Capitol on Tuesday morning to lend his gravitas to the occasion.

Graham led the Senate inquiry and drafted the pages that have been kept under wraps. Without violating his oath of secrecy about specifics, the Democrat has been quite outspoken, saying the redacted pages “point a very strong finger at Saudi Arabia as being the principal financier” of the 9/11 attacks. He has also said the U.S. government’s protective stance toward the Saudis allows them to continue spreading the extreme Wahhabi version of Islam that has led to the rise of ISIS.

Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR) has long been on record supporting the disclosure, and he is co-sponsoring the legislation. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) is described as “definitely interested,” and as the 9/11 family members continue to press for answers, they hope the moment is coming when this long-festering report will see the light of day, either by legislative action or by President Obama deciding enough is enough.

Damn do I hate being on the same side as Rand Paul, however once again he is absolutely right to push for this.

I don't want to get all conspiratorial here, but if you think we know the full truth about 9-11 then you are seriously deluding yourself.

If you are unfamiliar with this controversy you can read more about it here courtesy of Newsweek.

Don't feel bad. Libertarians like his father have many bad ideas, but also many good ones, like being very anti-war and pro-civil liberties.

I took a quiz once on who I should vote for for president, based on a bunch of multiple choice questions. The results were Dennis Kucinich or Ron Paul.

Libertarians ... they're so far Right they're Left! They're so far Left they're Right!

The other day my SO agreed with Rand too and thought he might be the sanest of the GOP pres hopefuls, but I said, don't worry, he'll start spouting some crazy stuff again soon.

      Civil liberties?

Ron Paul and his son are anti-choice and anti-gay marriage rights. That would be fine if they kept it to themselves and understood that everyone can do what they way. But Ron and Rand believe in "state's rights" which basically means the "state" can take away civil liberties if enough people vote that way.

And Rand Paul has not shown himself to be "very anti-war." He's flip flopped around depending on which way the wind blows on that front.

Me too. Get the truth about Bush and his kissing cousins out there. Stop demonizing Hillary and Obama for the state of the world...everything that is in chaos is directly related to the Bushes. Everything.

You might want to learn a little more history concerning the Arabic nations and how they were looked upon for centuries - despite the advances in mathematics and science they brought to the world.

The Bushes were just the last of a bunch of people who treated them as ignorant savages.

OK, that headline made me laugh out loud.

    Thank you, Gryphen.

And, yes, let's have the truth. It's a democracy; we need to know the truth, so we can vote intelligently.

I agree. Once we know the truth, we'll start to heal as a country. And believe me, we eventually WILL find out the truth, as painful to some as it may be.

A broken clock is right twice a day, so let's not be too quick to climb aboard the Rand "Ayn Rand" Paul wagon. It literally can't have more than 2-3 functioning wheels.

Secrecy is a nuanced thing. In theory everything should be out in the open but in practice full disclosure of diplomatic interactions, sensitive negotiations, criminal activities, military contingency plans, etc can yield unintentional and highly undesirable results. Be careful what you wish for, yo.

A broken analog clock tells the correct time 2X daily. The exception to the rule are all the other Republican president wanna bees - 100% off the wall - all of the time. Rand has value, but not as President.

  9. Don't get too stressed.

Adolph Hitler was responsible for the development of the Volkswagon Bug. I wouldn't vote for him either.

Just because you have one good idea doesn't necessarily redeem the rest of the batshit crazy.
