Lindsey Graham on Joe Biden: "He's as good a man as God has ever created."

Courtesy of Newsmax:

"I called him after Beau died, and he basically said, 'Well Beau was my soul'," Graham said, his voice trembling, adding that Biden gave a speech at Graham's retirement party from the Air Force Reserve "and said some of the most incredibly heartfelt things that anybody could ever say to me."

"He's THE nicest person I've ever met in politics," Graham said. "He's as good a man as God has ever created."

I have to admit that I did not think that Lindsey Graham could ever do, or say, anything that would ever make me feel something positive about him.

But I was wrong.

Kind words regarding VP Joe Biden! He does appear to be such an outstanding man.

Love him and President Obama so much! They are a terrific team and regard and respect each other so much!

America is lucky to have both men in our daily midst!

Agreed. Does this mean you're not going to make obnoxious remarks such as referring to him as John McCain's "favorite girl"? Always respectful of the lesbians, gay men (or those rumoured to be) not so much.

Joe could end up being President Biden. Time will tell.

If he runs, I'll vote for him.

With him having worked so closely with PBO, each of them contributing hugely to each other, Joe would DEFINITELY carry forward, without a doubt, everything that PBO has put in motion.

Not so sure that would happen with anyone else.

It would be pretty awesome to have Joe and Jill in the White House.

    Miss Lindsey, not so much.

  3. What fellows like Graham say isn't the problem. It's what they do that causes the headaches.

I have a feeling that if you knew Lindsey on a personal, rather than political basis, you might find him to be a decent guy.

Unfortunately, his bombastic political rhetoric precedes him.

As a very blue person living in very red SC, I happened to be seated in the same row on a flight from Philly to Charleston Sen Graham on the day (6/13/08) that Tim Russert died. He spoke kindly, respectfully & with regret about the too early death of Tim. I haven't yet had the opportunity to ask him in person why that Lindsey Graham isn't around more. SC & the country would be better served if he was.

    1. He knows his base -- they don't vote for reasonable, caring, respectful men. If they did, they'd vote Democratic.

  7. This doesn't cause me to trust Graham the least more as a lawmaker, but it certainly shows a current of decency utterly devoid in someone like Ted Cruz, who couldn't restrain himself from a Biden joke the very weekend Beau was being buried.

The GOP will use this to show Graham is soft. They prefer people like Cruz who told jokes about Biden after his son died, and Biden was planning for the funeral.

Vice President Biden is a truly remarkable man. What a pair we have in charge: the best in both positions.

And they compliment each other so well.

The First Lady and Dr. Biden have also done so much to help this country, especially through programs for children and veterans.

    What a back-handed compliment.

A god had nothing to do with Joe Biden's wonderful nature -- give Joe the credit, and his parents.

At least there is one Rubublican that can talk like they do have a heart. Funny that McCain would have like Lindsay to be his running mate. Yet he went with the shiney object and didn't bother to vet it.

btw... maybe not such a good sign for religion hype.

Follow-up to Mark Burnett and Roma Downey’s 'The Bible' only lasted one season.

So what is with Sarah? Does anyone know what she knows about Bristol's antics, she is remaining mute. What cause Sarah Palin to be speechless. It was a long time coming, and no guarentees it will last long.

    All sexied up for AMERICA!

I have great respect for VP Biden. I think the media and the right like to share anything he says that is off script and laugh at his "gaffes." I think this will hurt him if he decides to run for President because of this image that has been portrayed.
I am conflicted over who should be the Democratic nominee. I like Biden, Clinton and Sanders. I would like to see a woman POTUS and I think Clinton is qualified. And the other 2 candidates are old, white men. Can't we find some more diverse candidates?

Whenever I take the train from the Wilmington Train Station, I look fondly at the Joseph R. Biden plaque on its wall.

I was there as a reporter in 1973 when Biden was sworn into the Senate in his son's hospital room; he commuted daily on the train for years and years so he could be home at night for his children.
Sen. O'Biden did not lead a perfect legislative life, but he knew every single soul in Delaware, he cared about his state, he was a deeply religious man, and a man of manners and good humor.
There aren't many of them in public service nowadays.
Think back to that '08 "debate" between Biden and Palin. A greater contrast you couldn't dream up.

I remember his answer when asked how he squared his religion with his public service.
My religion defines who I am. And I’ve been a practicing Catholic my whole life… With regard to abortion, I accept my church’s position on abortion as a — what we call de fide doctrine. Life begins at conception. That’s the Church’s judgment. I accept it in my personal life. But I refuse to impose it on equally devout Christians and Muslims and Jews and — I just refuse to impose that on others, unlike my friend here, the congressman.3
Too bad Ms. Lindsay and the rest have no such understanding of the separation of church and state.

Al Franken also attributed a quote to Lindsy Graham that was as heartfelt. He was very upset with Republican attitudes about grifting off the Iraq war and called them out on it. Perhaps we have misjudged him. The comment is toward the end of the book Lies and The Lying Liars Who Tell Them.

But he wants us right back at war. I can't trust any Republican any more. He may love Joe Biden, but he's no Joe Biden. He isn't even Joe the Plumber.

  18. Clearly, this sort of humanity is a showing a weakness so far as Republicans are concerned and means that the GOP base will drive him out of town on a rail. He might as well have called Michelle Obama a classy woman.

And you know, he's the nicest man and we, you know, talked about the future and you know his family's future and you know he's just about the nicest man you'll ever meet and you know we talked about the future and all.
And then I told him that I don't think the United States government should be paying for anyone's healthcare, 'cause you know, we have hospitals where they can go to and be taken care off!

Such a load of insincere shit.

Awwwww. Lindsey's running for office, he's GOT to appeal to the center. But it WAS mighty human of him, which may not play too well with his base.

His bff is John McCain, also too!!! Birds of a Feather....

  21. I grew up in Philly, a stone's throw away from Delaware. Biden has always been a legend in those parts, from taking the train to work each day to being one of the nicest and accessible public servants ever. Having worked in politics for many years, I know the game and there's few I look up to as true public servants...Joe Biden, Gabby, and Ralph Nader (Whom I worked for many, many years) I will tell you this; Joe Biden gives a shit about the people he serves, so does Gabby...Nader on the other hand is an odd, odd fellow, but a great public servant none the less. I also had the pleasure of working for the Late Peter Camejo, who was a founder of the Green Party, United Farms workers, and I am so very proud to have been able to call him my friend. RIP Pete...Go Big Joe...!!!
