Donald Trump's immigration plan essentially takes a scorched earth approach.

Courtesy of The Washington Post:

Trump’s plan, which is detailed on his website, calls for construction of a wall along the Mexican border, vowing to “make Mexico pay” for it; an end to birthright citizenship for the children of illegal immigrants; the defunding of sanctuary cities; the strengthening of immigration enforcement; and more. In an interview on NBC News, Trump added that he would rescind President Obama’s executive actions shielding millions from deportation, and deport all illegal immigrants: “They have to go.”

Trump's plan also included tripling the number of ICE officers, and hunting down ALL illegal immigrants in America and keeping them imprisoned until they could be deported back to their home countries.

The cost of such a program is estimated in the hundreds of billions of dollars. (Because you know fuck fiscal conservatism when there are wetbacks that need deporting.)

Now of course the question is what do the other GOP contenders do in response to this? Especially if it helps Trump increase his lead?

Let's face even though some of the GOP candidates, like Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio, talk about working to secure the Hispanic vote, the real base of the Republican party is xenophobic to its core.

So if Trump says outlandish things like this, and it helps him in the polls, what choice will the other candidates have to but to jump on board the undocumented immigrant bashing bandwagon?

Man you can almost hear the ground rumbling beneath your feet as all of the Hispanics rush over to support the Democratic ticket can't you?

....Judge Napolitano on he said.............per the Constitution you cannot deport children that were born in the USA,....
I'm familiar with the arguments about natural born citizens, but where in the Constitution does it say any child born in the USA to illegal immigrants is automatically a citizen? Anyone know? I know it's been customary practice to treat these kids as citizens, but I'm not familiar with any constitutional determination of such.

    susiepuma Al B. • 23 minutes ago
Well, if the parents are deported, the kids go with them................also, the language in the Constitution is vague - might have to be a SCOTUS decision or else an amendment to the Constitution.............................clarifying the language to make it official that only children of citizens are citizens..............

  5. Am I correct that the only president in living memory that had held no previously elected office was Eisenhower? And even he was a decorated WWII general. After the disaster of Bush, can the Republicans be crazy enough to bring someone to the table with no governing or lawmaking experience?

Depends on how old you are. Hoover never did. He was Commerce Secretary under Coolidge. The only others were Taft (solicitor General and Secretary of War) and four Army Generals, Washington, Taylor, Grant and Ike. So just like those who had held a previous elected office, they ranged from great to, meh.

Trump: (invades Mexico, shock and awe, nukes Mexico city).

Rest of World: Hunts down Trump, drags him off to the Hague to be tried for war crimes; OR, scrapes his suicidal remains off the walls of the Oval Office, whichever comes first!

Now it's Scott Walker who is jumping on the bandwagon and wants to build a wall. Don't these idiots even think what the effect of returning 11 million people back to poor countries would be. Not on those countries but on the U.S. having instability and unrest with our neighboring countries. And that's not even getting to the inhumanity of what they want to do.

Don't these people understand that our economy would collapse overnight if there was a mass deportation of undocumented workers? See the movie "A Day without a Mexican". Yes, satire, but rooted in truth. Who would be cleaning The Donald's house, who would be mowing The Donald's lawn? Who would be laundering the sheets in The Donald's properties? Multiply this by all the rest of the millionaires' personal needs and poof, there would be mass hysteria amongst the rich.

Estimates are 11 million of them. Let's be unrealistically generous and say they can round up 1000 a day. 1000 people being tracked down and shipped back where they came from every single day. It would take over 30 years!!

These people's only crime is coming to America in search of a better life and doing the jobs that we don't want to do. And we're going to grab them and take them away. We are not Nazi Germany!

You know, there is a huge border wall already built in parts of the border between New Mexico and Mexico. There are places in N M where no huge wall can be built because of the terrain. There are mountains that are extremely rugged that would be very expensive if it were even possible to build a wall there. For some reason, politicians love to talk about the border between Arizona or Texas with Mexico, but never talk about the border in New Mexico. Send these stupid politicians to the bootheel in New Mexico so they can see how rugged it is. Mr Trump, I'm talking to you.

People who immigrate to the US without documentation are not "illegal aliens." They have not broken any criminal laws, and are not subject to criminal prosecution. They cannot be put in criminal jails. They have done nothing "illegal." They can be detained and deported.

Let's stop referring to them as "illegal" and even worse "aliens." They are undocumented immigrants, which most of our ancestors were, unless you happen to be Native American. And California, Arizona, New Mexico and parts of Texas were all part of Mexico until the US "illegally" stole that land by force in 1848.

Our agricultural economy would collapse if all the undocumented workers were forced out of the country. And of course, they do pay taxes which helps the economy in general.

    2. Anita Winecooler6:39 PM

Well Said, Nikogriego. This nation was built by the sweat, blood and tears of immigrants from all over the world, and the hard work they are willing to do. The concept of uprooting entire families is beyond ridicule. Undocumented is the correct term. ET was an illegal alien, as well as Alf.
China built the Great Wall to keep out the foreigners that kept them strong, but it was fine for Mr Trump to "make deals" and manufacture his "goods" there. Mr Romney was surprised to see fences around factories, because so many people just LOVED working in sweatshop conditions, they needed fences to keep all the willing workers OUT.
Today's GOP "logic" makes no sense.

People who are here illegally still pay taxes every time they buy something at the store. And in some communities and for some stores, the loss of those customers would have a detrimental impact.

It's not surprising that Donald thinks such a complex problem has such a simple answer. Send them all back to Mexico! Most of them are rapists and murders, right Donald?

The 14th amendment gives automatic citizenship to those who are born in the United States. So, there is no easy way to deny citizenship to people who were born here.

There would have to be a constitutional convention, which requires super majorities or both the House and Senate and then a super majority of states would need to ratify. States can hold such a convention, but again a super majority would need to agree to it.

So, back to reality. People born here are us and you cannot send them back to where they didn't come from.

I think this hating on the poor immigrant is going to backfire on anyone who chooses to go down that path. Hispanics are a big piece of our electorate. It is very doubtful that the Republican nominee will get even 1% of the Hispanic vote in 2016. They have the power to turn Arizona, Texas and other states a deep shade of blue.

I disagree 2:57. George Bush received 44% of the Hispanic vote in 2004. You will recall that Bush did push for a pathway to citizenship, much to the chagrin of all the haters in the Republican party.

Mittens Romney received 27% of the Hispanic vote. Had he received 44%, he might have won the Presidency. But you don't have to believe me, read this article written after the 2012 election in the National Review:

Obama is vilified for ‘not following the rules’, but Sarah, and now Trump, would be encouraged to break them all and take control; for the good of the country of course. Who, how many hard left groups, (Countries, Valerie, Soros), calling the shots for OB, more importantly whats in store for us after his terms in W/H? Hes not going away, wants to rule the world. Not funny. If Farrakhan, Black Panthers, etc, can get away with what they spew, are doing, have done, where will OB take it? Private Army, compounds in every state, private flag? Perverting the Constitution, for his own use? I'm afraid for America, rule of law, freedom. Massive responsibilities, greater then ever for the incoming POTUS, coalition. OB, Clinton s, K street, will have to be rained in. Who is going to do that ?? Sarah only one, square one. Gigantic mess on America,s hands, being honest, facing it, her biggest challenge. Taking responsibility, calling out the traitors first steps. Sarah,s DNA, fearless leader of freedom, for America 100%, class of her own, its time. On the road (again) road map? Bus? reload. America wants peace, freedom, smaller domestic Gov, space to grow, not be spied on. Personal responsibility, semblance, unity, common sense here we come, America Rising, its time, will happen.

If Sarah comes through for us, she should be awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for bravery in the face of the enemy, above and beyond the call of duty. Do we realize the forces she will face, and the danger to her and her family? Should she run, we must be prepared not only to support but to protect her. The forces against her, and the US, are ruthless, just as ruthless as the ISIS be-headers, only more dangerous because of the veil they operate behind.

Mr Trump's "plan" is destined to fail because there IS no plan. When asked whom he goes to for advice on military matters, the blathering buffoon cited "generals he's watched on TV News", then spouted a few names as if he were on a first name basis.
Mr Trump, if you deport Hispanic Families, who have long roots in America's society, may I ask who is going to serve food in your casinos? Who's going to clean rooms, change sheets, harvest farmer's goods, sew and tailor your "fine line of polyester suits"? Who's going to tame that blob flying in the wind that you call "hair"?
How many man hours have you and your family worked for charitable causes like feeding the hungry, clothing the poor, picking food in the fields under deplorable conditions and equally deplorable pay and benefits? Those ARE the jobs "Real Americans" feel is "beneath them" and the very jobs that legal immigrants take until they can better themselves.
You want to take away "birthright citizenship"? What purpose does that serve? These people are just as american as your immigrant spouses kids, will you strip them of their citizenship to "Make America Great Again"?

One more thing, you didn't bother doing your civic duty four other times, didn't show for jury duty, and got slapped on the hand with four $250.00 fines. Anyone else gets a visit from the sheriff's department and a free ride to court. I guess "justice" is "more just" for the rich than us working stiffs.
