Donald Trump's reception in Tennessee was not exactly welcoming.

Courtesy of the Tennessean:

Hundreds of rain-soaked demonstrators, some with children on their shoulders, marched down Fourth Avenue South Saturday to advocate for undocumented immigrants while Donald Trump used violent imagery to characterize them as dangerous during an event at Rocketown.

While Trump addressed "anchor babies" and building a wall at the Mexican border, rally leaders beat on bucket drums while the crowd circled the building chanting, "Who are we? Tennessee" and "Racism has got to go."

The rally was organized by a coalition of social justice groups led by the Tennessee Immigrant and Refugee Rights Coalition and Workers' Dignity. Stephanie Teatro, co-executive director of TIRRC, said about 400 people attended. While Teatro insisted the rally was aimed at combating the "ugly turn in the conversation about immigrants" for many of the presidential candidates, not just Trump, some of the demonstrators' signs specifically targeted him.

"In God we trust," one sign read, "Trump is a disgust."

Yeah I know these protesters are not exactly the GOP base, but they DO vote and they DO have a political presence.

And besides 400 protesters is nothing to sneeze at in Tennessee as it really does not get much more Republican than there.

Just imagine the reception Trump might receive in a state which is colored not quite such a dark shade of red.

    OT -

On other sites people are commenting on Palin's latest work on her nose. Very obvious and all are saying she really over did it.
Perhaps this is what Bristol was referring to recently in a comment about plastic surgery.

As I said on another site, Sarah is looking quite Lara Flynn Boyle-ish...lips/mouth etc. She must not have liked herself very much. She looked a whole lot better when she was herself. Wonder if she can whinny like a horse now that her nostrils are so flared?

Yes, it looks like her face was smashed against a wall.

I knew a woman that went to a crappy doctor and he made her nose too small, same effect, pancake face.

She's vain and stupid enough to think people won't notice. She's desperately trying to compete with her idol's wives in the "way too much elective surgery" race. Gravity, time and bile weren't kind to Sarah. I'd rather maintain my dignity and age gracefully than become the poster child for "what NOT to get done".
Not dissing plastic surgery or people's choice to fix something they feel is bothering them, but the woman's in her fifties, goes out in public with fake boobs and she's ugly to the bone from stewing in her own bile.

The Immoral Minority readers warned everybody in the GOP about the Sarah Palin Curse. Look at the GOP presidential candidates at the bottom of the polls.

Earlier before Trump announced he was running for president, Facebook Sarah gushed over all them too. Now look at those GOP losers.

Some enterprising journalist should ask The Donald about all the illegal aliens that did construction on his buildings.

Also, if Americans are so great and he is going to create all these jobs, why does Trump enterprise use H1 workers for maids and kitchen help. Oh right Americans don't want those jobs.

These idiotic Republicans don't have a clue that Alaskans (and natives) are delighted that President Obama approved the "Denali" name! It's way past time that it was done and they are just pissed that President Obama once again 'nailed it'!!!!

Thank you, President Obama and welcome to Alaska! Many of us within the state are and will be delighted to see you!

If McKinley were a Democrat, they would have no problem.

Besides it keeps the people from looking at the real issues, like where are all the jobs they were going to create.

I don't believe Trump ever learned to play nice with others. I used to think it was an act. I no longer think that.

Dean has made a career in recent decades warning about the dangers of authoritarian politicians.

As he recently wrote, Trump is “a near perfect authoritarian leader.” As a personality type, “these people are usually initimidating and bullying, faintly hedonistic, vengeful, pitliess, exploitive, manipulative, dishonest, cheat to win, highly prejudiced, mean-spirited, militant, nationalistic, tell others what they want to hear, take advantage of ‘suckers,’ specialize in creating false images to sell self, may or may not be religious, are are usually politically and economically conservative and Republican.”

O/T but did you catch this, Gryphen:

Jessa Duggar sparks furious backlash after she’s booked to speak at Southern women’s event

...“I wonder if Jessa will answer questions about the molestation cover up?” posted one commenter. “Why her husband doesn’t have a job? Why she’s traveling this late in her pregnancy? Does she plan on ‘blanket training’ her son (beating baby until he/she submits to the rod)? Just asking.”

Seewald’s mother, Michelle Duggar, explained on the family’s blog how she used the controversial method, which involves placing babies on blankets and flicking them with a flexible rod when they try to crawl off — eventually teaching the children to ignore their natural curiosity and remain in place.

“I’m having a very difficult time wrapping my head around the concept that Jessa even remotely has anything valuable to contribute,” wrote another commenter. “She was raised in a culture where women are devalued as equals and are viewed as second class citizens, whose only true purpose is to breed. She’s not a proud Southern woman, not by my standards.”

Many commenters said they were boycotting this year’s event and future conferences.

“Your choice of including an uneducated, judgmental and arrogant Duggar as a guest speaker has made it impossible for me to attend any more of your events,” one commenter said.

Very good! I feel bad for Jessa because she's a product of her upbringing and was victimized by her brother as well as her parents who covered it up. But, it's great that people are starting to recognize that it's damaging to hold up any of these Duggars as anything to aspire to. Maybe Jessa will get the picture once her meal ticket is cut off.
