Elizabeth Warren drops the hammer on Republicans over their attempt to defund Planned Parenthood.

Courtesy of Mother Jones:

As the Senate convened on Monday to vote on a bill seeking to defund Planned Parenthood, Sen. Elizabeth Warren took the floor to issue a fierce defense of the health organization. "Do you have any idea what year it is?" Warren asked.

"Did you fall down, hit your head, and think you woke up in the 1950's or the 1890's? Should we call for a doctor? Because I simply cannot believe that in the year 2015, the United States Senate would be spending its time trying to defund women's health care centers. You know, on second thought, maybe I shouldn't be that surprised. The Republicans have had a plan for years to strip away women's rights to make choices over our own bodies. Just look at the recent facts."

Warren continued by listing all of the other recent attempts by the Republicans to undermine health care services for women and to essentially sabotage the Roe vs Wade decision piece by piece.

Damn she's good!

And I love watching her slap the snot out of the GOP.

  2. That woman is my hero! She put it perfectly, common sense, spoken with truth and passion, anyone capable of reasonable thought could see the sense in what she said.

Now it's up to women to VOTE! Vote republicans out of office, don't vote for people who want to turn back the clock and deprive you of your rights.

If memory serves me correctly, didn't Obama include in the ACA Bill that federal funds would not go toward providing abortions at Planned Parenthood?

Obama made a lot of compromises in the ACA in an attempt to get the support of reasonable Republicans. Time has shown that was a wasted effort because there are no reasonable Republicans (even though there once were).

However, the Hyde Amendment would apply to all federal funds. Google it and educate yourself because right now you're not looking very bright.

    6. Yes. A redundancy of existing law.

But that's not enough for Republicans.

As Warren clearly stated, this is yet another attempt by Republicans to deny women health care.

It is a war on women perpetrated by the Republican Party.

PP has gone down the familiar path of 'non profit' organizations that have become too big and too dependent on Government funding. Letting themselves get sloppy and unorganized, complete with the typical self promoting fools at the helm that have no control or care or preparedness. That is why they have been backed up to the ropes and have no-where to hide, the only defense is to whine that they are being misaligned. That play doesn't work.

    Another video being released today.

I find it interesting people like you have no idea what PP does. You are dug in about the government funding some of it. What the hell should our guv fund if not responsible reproductive health? Oop---I know,
      tax cuts for rich men--huh?

Well ask all the towns in Texas with raging STD
problems and the one in Indiana with HIV blowing up.
Interesting enough---the got rid of PP.

Cancer screening, pap screenings, contraceptives so people can make responsible checks and balances on their lives. Of course you are probably consider yourself pro-life but love trillions going to military spending and killing poor young men and women AND cutting services for food stamps and health services.

Fuck off-----assholes like you are for forced birth---then screw the human fallout. Have a nice day.
Heavily edited videos are all you hypocrites have.

This is a coordinated attack hatched in 2013 by Ginni Thomas and some well heeled GOP operatives. PP had no idea they were going to be ACORNed.
All I can say is I hope some day one of your family need the kind of services PP provides and are NOT able to get it.

You could say the same thing about the military-industrial complex. But their profits pay to buy congressmen and senators to fund weapons that we don't need, that don't work, but have massive cost over-runs. The play works for yhe M-I complex.

      Liz... it is a private non-profit.... not a public institution. Get that, I'll spell it out for you, P R I V A T E, not public.

None of you seem to realize that taxpayers that think differently than you do, get to have a say as to where their tax dollars go when it comes to government grants to private institutions. You don't get the only say as to where their dollars go.

12:40: I am not sure what you mean by PP going the way of non-profits? In my little community in Alaska we love our non-profits and curiously, unlike your pathetic little rant about how non-profits become sloppy and unorganized (I just wonder what alternate universe you live in by the way) the non-profits in my community have to follow strict accounting rules to acquire funding from grants etc. ... And the people who work and volunteer in the PP I’m familiar with are incredibly industrious, well educated and some are fantastic retired women who volunteer their expertise as professionals in accounting, business and medical fields. What hole are you crawling out of to deliver such a lame indictment of this amazing institution? I encourage you to run for a seat on any non-profit board in your community and see the amazing work they do. Please! Be a contributor, not an ignorant naysayer. Also, do you not realize most hospitals in most communities are also non-profits?

The problem with attacking PP is that far too many of us are far too familiar with the organization to believe the mischaracterizations of it by RWNJs.

A huge number of women across all levels of society have used their services and were extremely grateful to get them. I am no longer poor by any stretch, but when I was young, I lived hand to mouth and went to PP for contraception and exams. I will never forget how grateful I was and I will NEVER let a pack of liars destroy PP. Nor am I the only one who feels this way.

This Is The New MSNBC: Joe Scarborough Uses Edited Videos To Attack Elizabeth Warren

This is what the new MSNBC looks like in action. Joe Scarborough was allowed to use deceptively edited videos to attack Sen. Elizabeth Warren during a segment on Morning Joe.

    Video:

A real insult to our collective intelligence was Joe Scarborough trying to pass off edited videos as facts. An insult is the fact that MSNBC has dumped much of their liberal talent while elevating a Republican hack like Scarborough.

MSNBC executives claimed that they moved away from their liberal programming to focus more on news and breaking news. If this is the case, why is Joe Scarborough still on the air? Scarborough has no background in news and journalism. He is a former House Republican backbencher who gets paid to deliver his opinions on NBC and MSNBC. If MSNBC’s standards for dumping Ed Schultz were applied to Joe Scarborough, he would be out of a job.

Welcome to the “new” MSNBC. Joe Scarborough can smear a sitting United States Senator with no consequences, but there is no room for liberals who discuss the plight of working Americans. MSNBC has gone from leaning forward to falling backward into oblivion.

Of course Joe quotes a bishop or archbishop in his rush to blow air up his butt, a talent he's raised to an art form. And Mika, the mouse, just puts her head down.... I'd like to see Joe and Elizabeth Warren "talk" about this topic at length.
He's such an expert on women's health, sex education, "selling body parts" from "crushed skulls" of "fetuses" while chomping on lunch. But wait, there's more vids coming! When's he bringing back the resident reverend and morality cop?

The people promoting defunding PP are not 1950s, they are up to the minute in 2015, with a very, very, very clear view of what brings fundie dollars into their greedy hands. It's 2015 and absolutely ANYTHING that will fund raise is fair game.

    Bush steps in it.

It was a casual aside from Jeb Bush, but it could haunt him throughout a campaign in which women’s votes — and issues — may prove pivotal.

During an interview on Tuesday with religious conservatives, Mr. Bush suggested that the federal government has overfunded women’s health.

“I’m not sure we need half a billion dollars for women’s health issues,” Mr. Bush said at a Southern Baptist Convention event in Nashville.

Amid a storm of Democratic mockery, Mr. Bush backtracked within a few hours, saying he had misspoken.

The assertion came in the middle of his answer to a question about defunding Planned Parenthood, the subject of hidden-camera videos that have portrayed its employees in unflattering ways.

Mr. Bush, a former governor of Florida, said the federal government should stop financing Planned Parenthood. He then veered off course, into a discussion of what could be done instead with the $500 million in federal funds the organization receives annually.

“You could take dollar for dollar — although I’m not sure we need half a billion dollars for women’s health issues,” he said, “but if you took, dollar for dollar, there are many extraordinary fine organizations, community health organizations, that exist, federally sponsored organizations, to provide quality care for women on a variety of health issues.”
