I finally get to say something positive about Senator Lisa Murkowski.

Courtesy of TPM:

Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) became the first Republican senator to sign on to Senate Democrats' legislation to restore a piece of the Voting Rights Act, The Nation's Ari Berman noted Thursday.

The bill addresses the Supreme Court's 2013 Shelby County v. Holder decision, which gutted a provision of the Voting Rights Act that required certain states and localities to get changes to their voting laws pre-approved by the federal government. Called the Voting Rights Advancement Act of 2015, the proposal would bring back those requirement for states and localities that have had certain number of voting rights violations in a given period.

I still have numerous criticisms of my Senator, but considering the other two people representing Alaska, she is easily the best of the bunch.

Trust me that is not much of an endorsement.

However Lisa done good here, and it deserves to be recognized.

And now I have.

Will, I'll be damned! She finally did something ethical and there is more than likely a motive behind all of it! Votes for reelection and once again, she won't have mine!

Hey Gryphen, don't stop applauding just yet...she's on a roll!

I just discovered that she also supports the extension of the James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act, parts of which are set to begin expiring next month. She is one of only 6 Republican Senators who have pledged to support the bill so far.

It is truly appalling that members of Congress wave the flag on 9/11 and proclaim that they will 'never forget', and then quickly abandon the tens of thousands of first responders who are sick or dying from their exposure to toxins from that day.

Tweets from GOP candidates abounded on Friday, all with photos designed to inspire a tear as we remembered that horrific day. Yet somehow they feel no embarrassment at failing to provide the medical care these heroes earned as they dug through the rubble of the WTC, Pentagon and Shanksville sites.

I'm proud to say that my 2 Senators (Gillibrand and Schumer) and Congresswoman (Slaughter) are all supporters of this bill. Congratulations to Lisa Murkowski for joining them.

Perhaps she's planning on retiring at the next election.

This is what I like about Gryph, he's able to set aside someone's politics and give them credit when they do something good.
